2009 had a lot of ups and downs for me and I hope and pray that 2010 will be a better year for all of us.

Just wanted to update you all. Grandpa held on for a good month. My Dad was able to get him hospice care and Dad was there every single day with him. Finally my Uncle went to see him this past weekend. He passed on shortly after. I am glad my Uncle went, I believe that was why Grandpa held on so long. I think we are all at peace, finally. He is surely in a better place. Thank you all for your kind words.

Wow! Thanks Amj, Ttodd and HIWTHI! Haven't been over here in a while...missed your lovely posts. I'm researching bathroom items (tubs, toilets, etc.) & went to the bath forum today. So glad I did, & checked over here while I was at it! Amj, Jasmine is doing really well. About the same as before the dramatic incident! True, the ear situation continues as before as well, but she is eating, drinking & "using her box" regularly. She moves with agility and is steady on her feet. Feel I've been given a second chance with her...who knows how long it will last? However much longer she's with us, I appreciate her presence in my life more than ever! As for my sister, she will soon begin radiation & chemo. This time, she must have both therapies simultaneously. Last year she had them separately, with a short break between the two. Having them together sounds brutal, but her doc thinks she's tough enough to endure it, and this will be the most effective treatment for her particular cancer, which metasized from her lung. I feel so sorry that she must go through such a grueling treatment, but am elated that there is a way to address what she is diagnosed with. Her doctor is optimistic for the short term and the long term using this therapy. Thanks for asking, & for thinking about us, Amj. You are really a sweetheart! Ttodd, thank you SO much for sharing your cat's ear history! I've never met anyone with a cat who had such severe ear issues either! Amazing. Glad your kitty lived on to enjoy a long, happy life! 18 years is really a long time for a kitty to live! I appreciate your good wishes, & send you a hug back! HIWTHI, thank you for sharing your story too. We are currently using Prednisone, an oral steroid, for itch relief, and I have some drops that she sometimes lets me put in. She's a tough customer these days as far as letting me touch the ear...I'm not pushing it either. Just glad she's doing the basics again! Never thought I'd be so thrilled to see a kitty eat, drink & potty. I'm so grateful for this time with my little fur-baby! Thanks again for your thoughtful reply. I believe my sister will do well, but has a rough patch to go through with her treatment first. Now that her house is sold, she's living in a tiny, three-room apt. until her house on the water is finished being renovated in October. At first I thought this whole house sale/house purchase/reno thing was miserable timing, but now I think re-doing a house gives her a lot to look forward to. I think that's really important, & now see it, even with all the chaos it's introduced, as a blessing!

Dixiedo life is too short not to take chances. My goodness I bet you would look darling in a do like that. Anyone that can describe it like you did can certainly pull it off, and pair it with some killer boots. (lol) Oh, Jen your just a baby, I could be your mommy. Busybee....Thank you so much. It does take a little more time to do short hair . Men think women wear their hair short because it's easy, it ain't boys. But, there is something really sexy about a ponytail, it's just really really cute. Thanks Tina. I'm curious do you have short or long hair and what color is it? Faron....I like the way your girlfriend from Dirty Dancing wears her hair TODAY.

Thank you all so much for being here for me. It really is such a comfort. Jeannie and I talked for an hour today. Though it was hard, it all seemed to come natural, as it always has between us. I should have known it would be. She told me how much I meant to her and how I was the only one that she felt she could ever talk to about the hard things and it means so much to her that I'm there for her now. She asked if I would promise to be there for Jeff and Eric when it's over. I promised. Jeff and I have become very close during all this as when Jeannie wasn't strong enough to talk, he and I would talk. I'll keep calling him and checking on him. make plans for him to come out and visit us. Their son Eric is a very busy with his job and often travels, but I know he too will be there for his Dad. So will Jeannie's siblings and other family members. He told Jeannie today that he will not stay in their home after she's gone. I imagine he won't be able to bear being there without her. She said she told him to remarry as he's still so young. He told her no one could ever measure up to her, and I know he means that. I also told her how much she means to me, in detail. We talked about whether or not she should try another round of chemo, telling me what her original surgeon of six years ago told her yesterday after reading the CT Scans. He was very kind, telling her how he'd never seen such a fighter and he wouldn't tell her this if he didn't really feel it to be true, but at this point chemo would only make her sicker and probable shorten her life more. She's going to talk to her wonderful family doctor tomorrow and arrange to talk to the pastor that does the cancer therapy sessions as soon as she's back in town. We both felt she would be the best to understand her situation. She told me she was afraid the actual dying would be painful, so I recommended she make an appointment to meet with someone from Hospice. That way she'll know just what to expect and when would be the best time to start under their care and how she wants to go about it. We decided to talk every day we can. Something I wish I'd have done already, but as I said earlier I didn't want to cause more concern for her. We did cry a bit, but for the most part we had a wonderful conversation. She's going to have her son set up Skype for them so my daughter can talk with her, she's always adored Jeannie, and she and I both want her daughter to meet Jeannie. I know that will be good for Jeannie too as she has always loved children. When she and her hubby drove a semi together, she was trucker buddies with different classrooms around the USA writing them letters and sending special things from around the country to them to teach them about our country. It's just so hard to understand when someone so good and always thinking of others first, even when she didn't have much herself, to be taken when she could give so much more. But maybe that's why God is bringing her Home, for He has other plans for her from Heaven.

Goodbye to 2009 - a good year, overall, despite the loss of my sister, Phyllis. She is in a better place. Gary's and my first FULL year of marraige (1 1/2 years on Christmas day), a good year for all of our kids.

Hello to 2010. Hopefully another good one!

I'm so grateful that the challenges faced in 2009 are behind me now, and that I was able to meet them head on. I pray that the challenges ahead of me in 2010 aren't any tougher!

Absolutely !!! 2009 has been the year from He** for me healthwise,but i didn't let it win,i fought every battle it sent my way with every fiber of my being.Thank the Good Lord he saw me through and answered my prayers.Hoping 2010 is a lot better.

Considering my dh lost his job in 2009, I'm ready to say GOOD BYE YEAR!! hopefully 2010 will bring employment opportunities to all who seek them. We did have good health though, and for that I am grateful! :)

Our cockapoo Cody left us today. The megaesophagas and several years of prednisone got the best of him so it was time to do what was best for him. He was such an adaptable buddy, traveling from the sunshine of California to romping in the snows of New York. When he heard the ice cubes at 4:00, he knew there were Kong treats just ahead! We will sure miss his wagging tail early in the morning. He was our best friend and we miss him so much.

A sad farewell to 2009 and a welcome to 2010.

Lots happened here in 2009. Could have been worse but could have been much better! The brightness of 2009 is the new friends I have made her at the KT!

2009 was good in that another greatgrandchild joined our family, a beautiful little girl. The downside to this year has been the economy with soooooo many people jobless, almost lost a granddaughter to spinal meningitis, so praying the new year brings good health to all my loved ones and jobs. Goodbye 2009, welcome 2010.

Good riddance!!
2000-2009 has been the worst 10 years of this country. The 9/11 attacks, the foreclosure bust, the stock market free fall, unemployment, the Iraq war, Katrina, Tsunami, Ponzi, and my personal one, 30% paycut in 2003.

A devastating decade for sure.
And for me, 2009 certainly wasn't great,
hardly better than 2008.
Here's hoping for a brighter year coming when,

I certainly hope and pray that 2010 will be a better year than 2009.
So many people have suffered because of our economy. Lost jobs,reduced incomes,home foreclosures...WOW!!

It's hard to be optimistic about the future, but I'm trying.
