I have been very depressed.

But with much prayer and faith, I've pulled out of it.

I neared the end of my unemployment benefits...had job interviews but no offers, therefore I made the decision to move in with my sister and her family (on halloween), shortly thereafter I began receiving benefits again.

A great weight was lifted off my shoulders, and for the first time in a longgggg time I felt happy and content!

It was short lived, however, because on Dec. 20th I fell backwards while trying to open the basement door. At one point I hit the steps dead on with my left leg and shattered the 2 leg bones going into my ankle and partially displaced my ankle. One bone had to be fixed right then with metal plate and screws. Further repair will be when the swelling goes down. I have a 'fixinator' coming out my leg.

I am staying at my daughter's.

I was supposed to have a hospital bed when I got out Christmas eve day, but there was a problem and I should have it today. Been sleeping in the recliner..quite well..actually. I am looking forward to having a walker too, instead of the wretched crutches!!

I met someone, shortly before moving in with my sister. We've been to each others' churches.

We have become pretty good friends. Talk on the phone a lot...me not being a phone talker..had to adjust..LOL!!

The kids are happy I am here, my granddaughter the most happy! Brekken and Blake are getting soooo big. Brekken is 6, and Blake will be 4 Feb 3rd.

Brekken excels in many subjects in school, she is one of the top in her grade level. Loves to write and read!

I am thankful that I didn't receive worse injuries in my fall. If it weren't for the injury...it would have been kinda comical..the way I remember flailing about grabbing at this and that...oh my!

I must say...once I felt that impact with my ankle, I don't remember much except being on the floor.

What a way to start the new year!!

I see it as a new journey. I have many people who care, wonderful friends, family and church family to see me through!

Oh no! That's not fun. You don't need DH to fix it, you can do it! Leaks are often just degraded O-rings, which do eventually happen as they are rubber. I bet if you call Kohler support they can walk you through taking the handle off and finding the problem. It's not hard, and there are only so many parts in there. They may even send the part free. You can get a new sprayer on Amazon for like $22 or something. Should be a snap to replace if they won't send you a new one free. I did read a lot of reports of the plastic snapping like that eventually, but I decided it was an easy enough thing to swap out if I ever needed to, and it's not unusual for something used that much to give like that. Not sure about the hose not retracting, but I'd take a peak underneath and see if the weight is in the right place. It may just need to be adjusted. Mine looks like a plastic tie off keeps it from going too low, my guess is over time that may wiggle it's way too low. Kohler support could probably help with these pretty quickly. Needed to add: if you need to lubricate anything in this process, use it sparingly. I learned the hard way that more lubricant doesn't help. We had a lever that wouldn't stay put for weeks after I went overboard with the lubricant, and I was too lazy to take it all back apart to wipe it off. You will soon want to push the two sofas together so that their corners touch, so that he doesn’t crawl into the corner and pull down the lamp. Or, remove the lamp. Our younger, really active baby had this Activity Garden. It didn’t have all the bells and whistles the newer ones have, but it was good for him because it let him focus. His favorite thing was just to open the gate, walk through, close the gate, check the mail, open the gate, walk back, close the gate. We got it from a rummage sale, and when he was finally ready to part with it we eased the pain by giving it to the church nursery, where he could show the babies how to use it lol. He’s 20 and that activity garden is still a favorite in the nursery! (Because it doesn’t have too many books and crannies, it is easy to keep clean.) edited to add, we got a train table that was a nice, stained and sealed wood, instead of a highly-kid-centric design. The Isle or Sodor-design top could be wrapped in wrapping paper for a change of pace. It stayed set up for years, transitioning to Lego, board games, puzzles, by day, and coffee table by night, because it matched the family room decor.

Welcome back and I'm so glad the cloud of depression has lifted! My mom suffers from that occasionally and it's brutal and just sucks the life right out of ya. So yay for getting thru that! Heal fast and enjoy life, Diane, that's my wish for you!

What with the personal difficulties, mental and physical you've had some tough times with which to cope.

Then to add to that the disruption of moving from one place to another ... that really adds a great deal more to the upsets that one has to face.

I'm pleased that you've been finding several good experiences in the midst of it all, to bring some rays of sunshine to brighten your days now.

Should the dark days pay a return visit, I hope that you won't be reluctant to come here to share, for several others have done so and have been gratified at the support and empathy received and found some suggestions helpful.

I hope that the healing goes well, and that you have a great New Year.

I'm glad you came back to check in at the Kt. We all come and go during the hoidays and really have no idea what's really going on with so many here. I hope you mend quickly and completly,, both mentally and physically. Best wishes for a better 2010.

And your poor leg....Just glad you didn't have a bad head injury, too.

Awww thank you all for your kind comments. This brought the depression back, but all will be well.

I have missed being here. Got sucked into Facebook for awhile, and the various games there. Got through that stage...LOL! Thank God!

That sounds like a terribly painful experience. I'm so glad you're on the way to recovery and also glad you have family around to keep your spirits up.

My DIL sent me a request to "be her friend". Unfortunately, I did and after browsing around in facebook I can't see that it's anything I would be interested in doing. I know there has to be more to it than what I'm seeing with the silly games and people posting trivial activities all day. I'd rather come here and wait for a response. After all instant messaging isn't all it's cracked up to be. So, I can understand your position on facebook. Just come over here and talk to us. Takes longer for an answer but well worth the wait.
