Question for FaceBook Users

So ... if I've set someone to 'ignore' so that I don't get bazillions of posts on how they upgraded this farm, or helped a penguin at the zoo ... how can I 'un-ignore' them?

They don't know they're being ignored so I don't want to re-friend them.

Is it possible?

You can click on Ignore/Block this application.

Yes! You can block the whole application. I had to do that to several habitual posters. I quit playing the games there too!

WildEarth.TV broadcasts live safari drives in Djuma, South Africa. If you've ever wanted to see lions, elephants, leopards, hyenas, live & up close, this is great. There are 2 drives a day; we log on with user names or nicknames on chat during the drives. They recently went to 3D & have made changes & still tweeking but there is no FAQ or a Help forum as such. I've been advised by one chat leader to log on with a different browser. -I tried IE (I use Firefox) but after I tried that and it really messed up my computer somehow - at least I think that's what did it. I started getting a 'black screen' and couldn't log in at all. I somehow got it back again but if I turn my computer off, I get the black screen again, so I leave it on "sleep" so far so good but my clock is way off by 6 hours. Any ideas about that too?

Hi Sue-va It's hard to keep up to date with Facebook, they're always changing things. A couple tips, On your Facebook page, clicking the word Facebook (at the top, left) or Home(top, right)will open up your news feed,it is the page with ALL the "news" posted by your friends. Clicking on your name (top, right)will bring up your timeline which has just the stuff you've posted and posts made directly to you from your friends. I, of course, had heard a lot of references to Facebook. They all pertained to how great it was to reconnect with friends and family. I didn't know there were "hidden" mysteries that came with it. So I joined up, and right away found some relatives that would be good to hear from. I began to realize I was also gaining "friends" I never heard of. I have no idea who most of those friends are. As I said before, I think Facebook should come with a tutorial. A lot of the terms are not self-explanatory. I googled and learned a few tid-bits here and there. One was the use of the Hide button, but that only works on the Home page, not the page of a Friend. So there is no way to my knowledge to remove something from another's page. Seems like there should be, it is MY Facebook. Anyway, I have gone in and removed every name except my nieces and nephews. I left X, because I don't have the heart to delete him. I know that if he did do the quiz, and doesn't want to admit it after seeing the result, that he had no idea what would have come of taking the quiz. And that the "F" word would be blasted on that page in BIG red letters on a black background. Facebook should be ashamed. I didn't join Facebook looking for games to play or quizzes to take. My purpose was to locate and reconnect with family. For that I think Facebook will be fine. It is much better than emailing. If anything similar happens again, I will give it up completely. Hi Sandie, I used to post on the KT a long time ago. I do not think you got an adequate answer about Facebook, First have your child open their page, scroll to the bottom banner at the end of the page. It will tell you about Privacy and there is Help link there, click . In Help screen, type how to block people. It will come up with specific directions. Please read their privacy policy also at the bottom banner and how to achieve what you want. To the right top of the FB screen, there is a lock symbol, open and set the settings to friends only and any other settings to limit contact. On chat make sure it is set for friends only. I wouild also look at your child's friend list and make sure they are really known, not just friended because of a request. Hope this helps.

go to "edit options" at the bottom right hand corner of your home page

You can also just block the Farmville posts, or whatever. When one of those show up - hover over on the left side of their post and the "hide" button shows up. There should be an option to just hide Farmville, or Mafia Wars, or whatever stupid game it is....but if they make a normal post - it will show.

That is a great option. I love to play the games, but I can see how people who don't can't stand being inundated with that stuff.

I blocked the FarmSTUFF that kept getting posted by one of my friends..and now I never even see anything from her!LMAO I swear she was on there farming 24/7..but when I talk to her on the phone all she does is complain about how hard she has it..living with her DD,SIL and raising their 2 kids!??

Facebook STILL confuses me!

Thank you, Ont_Gal. That's what I needed to remove the 'hide' from the person. Also found out that a person I THOUGHT I'd 'hidden" I haven't. So that's good too!

Wow. Thank you so much! I didn't know how to do that and my news feed is almost ALL game updates. I just "hid" 5 different games. Hooray!

It makes it more enjoyable for the non gamers.

Sorry I called the games "stupid" earlier. They aren't - I just don't play them because I have a stinky slow internet connection. I don't do much on facebook other than read a few posts and chat with my family.

It can sure be addictive without the games, LOL! I would probably never get off it if I played the games :)

I maybe should have started a new thread instead of putting this here, but I'd like to know about something some of my friends have joined, an app that is supposed to tell you who has visited your photos, profile, etc. I can't figure out if people who use that app will be able to identify anyone who looks at their profile, or if it would only identify people who use that particular app.
