I still don't think I was wrong....kinda long

I'm secretary of our senior club. We usually have monthly pot luck lunches at the senior center. Twice a year we eat at a restaurant. December we have our Christmas party. Another gal & I call several restaurants, get quotes on meals, present them to the group, they vote on where we should go. Then we make the arrangements at the decided place, we arrange for a gift swap, make decorations and goody cups. We are to meet at 11:30, have a very short meeting, have our gift exchange, then are served our meal. One couple came and asked if the meal could be served first, because they had to catch a plane at 2:00. I said I didn't think we should change our plans for one couple, but I would arrange for them to get their meal right away, and then they could leave when they needed to, which I did. I got a couple emails that i was unreasonable and should have changed the plans to accommodate them. I just don't think I was. What do you all think? Was I being unbending? Thanks for the input. Dottie
