I know everyone is busy today but when you have time post the crafts you made for Christmas. We would all love to see them. I already posted a few on the craft page.

Not a craft, exactly--or is it? Here's the front and back covers of a book I made as a Christmas gift for my son, daughter, and granddaughter (and a copy for me, too). Forty pages, 103 photographs, and 4,500 words of text, covering all the dogs and cats we've had since 1968. It was very well received! :-)

I used Inkubook--they did a wonderful job with it. Great image quality.

That's wonderful Alisande!!! I was going to ask if you had made any of the books... were you making one for Joey (is that the baby's name?) too?

Deb--I am so terribly sorry--I am having an awful time right now--might lose my job and my home--I asked my son in law to mail your pkg--he got home last night from a business trip and it is still in his back seat!!!! Here are the instructions to make the Crhistmas Tree card. Boy, it does look confusing as ever. I'll practice and try to explain it simplier. Sal ------------- The paper that you use to make a 3 tiered Christmas tree will be a 4" X 4", 3" X 3", and a 2" X 2". To make a 4 tiered Christmas tree add a 5" X 5" piece of paper. Fold corner to corner first, then the other corner to corner. Next fold in half and fold. The last fold you turn the paper over and fold in half. On figure 2 you collapse the triangle to form the base of the tree. Make sure to make the creases well. I know it's a little confusing at first but call me and I'll walk you through when you're ready. If you use paper like wrapping paper, remember the design is on the outside when you make the folds until you make the last fold where you flip the paper over.

teacats, thank you to both you and your husband! We had to take the door off one of the narrower doorways to get it in the house from the workshop out back! Being that it's oak, it weighs a ton. denali, thank you very much! Cross your fingers for me that I'll do the inset panels without messing up! flyleft, thank you so much! Believe it or not, we're in northern New Mexico, and the original portion of the house is actually an early 1890's Vic with the Arts & Crafts fireplace, built-ins, windows, and other A & C details added in the early 1920's, we believe. Some areas in New Mexico have a lot of bungalows, particularly this town. It seems a lot of them were inhabited by employees of the SF railroad. Albuquerque actually has many nifty bungalows, as well. Brutuses, thank you! It's been a very busy summer in terms of the home projects, so I've not been on the board much. I'll post again when I really have it done. We had been using a small Ikea loveseat for a number of years, which was good for fitting in all the cramped rentals we lived in for so long. It looks like we're going to have to rearrange the LR a bit in order to accommodate this six foot long settee! funkyart, thank you! My husband is getting pretty dang good at woodworking, and it's been a great help budget-wise. We did spend some time working out the styling of the settee, and sort of combined different aspects of various designs we found into the settee. We think the house appreciates it!

I have a sewing/craft room set up, which I use almost every day. I can't find my camera cable right now, so I can't upload a photo, but I had a thought about your space. You really need a sewing machine space AND a table space because half of sewing is laying out the pattern, cutting, etc. I'm pretty sure I'm at my sewing table at least as much as I am at my machine itself. So, what might work really well for you is to get an old armoire from your local CL, and create something like the attached for the machine itself. Then you could position the table about a foot and a half out from the wall so that the person using it would stand between the wall and table, and could view tv. You could use the space under the table for wheeled carts which could hold storage supplies. Honestly the best storage I have in my craft room is the 8 foot long pegboard I put up. Everything hangs there: scissors, rotary cutters, rotary rulers, tape measures, etc. I can clean up in under two minutes, which helps me keep the area neat. The third element that is critical to the space is an ironing board. You could easily accomodate that by putting a fold-down board on the wall. They even have attractive cabinets for them now. Hi Lydia! Yes, he's Joey. I'm planning to make an ABC book for the baby. With me taking the pictures, and with 26 letters in the alphabet, I figure it'll take me until his first birthday in July--and that's thinking optimistically! :-)

I recently read a review of a photo book publisher in Hong Kong that uses good photo paper bonded to unbendable card stock. That should be good for a child's book. So that's the current plan.

The pets book was a really good experience for me. My first photo book! It took a lot of time and thought, but the results were outstanding. I spent all day Thanksgiving scanning pictures, only to discover that I was doing it wrong. (I'm so used to scanning negatives, not prints.) The next day the folks at DPReview helped me figure out it should be done, and I redid everything. But the laying out of the book was a lot of fun.

I don't do many crafts since the computer entered my life,
but I did make this memorial wreath of our son who we lost to cancer Aug 7th.

just a simple crochet bag...made a 12" long block, folded in half...made 7 for the 7 grand dd's, and 5 christmas verigated yarn for my cyber group...

the girls i made a simple handle with beads, the others a middle closeure with a christmas orney...
