Football Sunday...love it!!

Our N.E. Patriots are playing the Bears in Chicago this afternoon what's the weather going to be like????

I love watching football being played in the elements...football played in closed stadiums doesn't seem right. Is it me or do you feel the same?

my son and his family drove from memphis to chicago for the game today.........paid $300 each for tickets!!!!!!!! supposed to be -15 wind chill with 50-60 mph wind gusts. i can't wait to hear from them. last night they were talkiung about looking for a walmart to buy snowmobile suits.

I can vouch that the wind IS blowing and light snow is falling.

There is one and only 1 Walmart in Chicago and it's nowhere near Soldier Field. If you talk to your family, tell them to go to SportMart on LaSalle St. It's the closest sporting good place to Soldier Field.

TGIF.....and I REALLY mean that! I got home from the GENESIS concert at 1:30am, and the alarm went off at 5:15am as usual. I am exhausted from the Tuesday charity event where I got to bed at 1am. Too much late night for me. Phil Collins wanted all the "old people" to shout last night...he had about 50,000 of us screaming. Too funny! QOD: Nothing but chores so far. Tonight DBIL is coming over for dinner (and to help DH with our master bath which is still not completed). I plan on crying a bit more over my beloved METS who are falling apart. Tomorrow I hope to get the scarecrows and such out on the lawns and get to the garden center for a few mums and pumpkins so that we can finished decorating the outside of the house for fall; inside is completed. Sunday we will chill in front of the TV to watch the JETS, and in between I will get some more cooking finished for the week. OK, gotta run to the grocery. I took this afternoon off as vacation. After some errands I'm going to take a nap! Make today count! Check in DeeMarie PS: I was invited to join a committee here at work for our holiday party. It will be attended by 40o people and they want an "80's prom" theme. I remember the 80's well but was older than my teens (ahem!!!). Any suggestions welcome. Not sure many people will dress up, but giveaways and such that people could put on might be an idea. It will be held in a huge hotel (Hilton or similar). Thx!

We are headed to Indian Rocks Beach also Patti! Annual SB party at my friends who have this 'mansion like' home on the Intercoastal. Live music from 2pm until game time. I'm making Manhattan Clam Chowder and individual Beer Cheddar Biscuit bowls to serve the soup in, and also my grilled 'Yankee Chicken' legs & wings. No absolutely NOTHING about football but the party is a blast!! LOL

Also a fan of Xochitl chips-- they are thin and so crisp! I will be making buffalo chicken nachos. I salt and pepper skinless chicken breasts then add a few pats of butter and completely douse the breasts in Frank's Hot Sauce. Bake until cooked through then shred with a fork when cooled enough to work with. I mix a little more hot sauce into the shredded chicken and refrigerate overnight. Right before serving I assemble blue corn chips, chicken, finely diced jalapeno, scallions and a mix of cheddar, montery jack and manchego (or a mix of whatever I have!). Bake on a lowish temperature (300ish) for about 15 min. I drizzle more hot sauce and some ranch dressing on top (I don't care for blue cheese) and serve with sliced cucumbers around the perimeter.. and extra ranch dressing. Black bean nachos are also a favorite-- and now that I've thought of them, I may change my mind and go with that instead. I assemble with all the same above-- but I add diced tomatoes.

frankginakay, Where we are staying, they offer the test there. We aren’t vaccinated but we’ve had Covid, so we aren't really worried about the test, but I've had quite a few friends go, some have had Covid, and some not, and have all made it through fine. I think Cabo is getting more crowded now, but more people should be vaccinated by then also. I can’t imagine if you are vaccinated, you’d have anything to worry about. I have decided not to get my 17 year old son vaccinated for awhile, especially since he has had Covid. Letting it play out. I'm sure the vaccine is fine, but for him being young-just feels more comfortable that way for us. I am the mom who got his childhood vaccines when he was a baby ONE AT A TIME. I know his pediatrician was probably aggravated at me, but I wasn't taking any chances. I just think giving that many vaccines at one time is not a "one fit for all" for every baby/toddler. That's just me, and I feel good about what I did. When it comes to things like this, I research the heck out of everything!

I think that football should be played outside but I also think hockey should be played outside but that doesn't happen anymore either. Not even when you are a kid.

Yep - I heard that the dome roof collapsed. Interesting. I can't help but wonder about it since they wanted a new stadium and coldn't get it. That's just food for thought and not meant to hijack the thread.

Juellie I just heard that. How bad is it?
I knew the NY Jets couldn't land in Mpls and had to spend the night somewhere in Kansas, then today's game was postponed til Monday night and now the roof collapsed. Wonder what will happen now?

Here on the Illinois/Wisconsin border its bitter. Winds are really up and visibility is low. Of course we're in the middle of corn fields so everything just blows. Would not even want to be at the game in Chicago today. Those boys are going to have a hard time of it, I would imagine it's going to be a running game. Can you imagine trying to catch a frozen ball. But, we love it. We'll watch the packers in Detroit first. As a beer fan we're hoping for a loss there.
Going to brave it and try to get to the buffalo farm which is just 10 minutes away. Been trying to capture them in the snow for handmade christmas cards. I think this is my opportunity. Have a fun day and stay warm.

I just hope nobody gets HURT in or at the Bears game today. We're 30 miles north and almost as near the lake as Soldier Field. It's been snowing off and on since 7 a.m. We are to get between half and a full foot of snow, depending on the lake effect. Wind gusts are up to 50 MPH.

jae_tn -- Hope your family leaves not a scrap of skin exposed and does some active cheerleading to keep circulation going. Will we be able to spot them in the stands? (Assuming we still have power by game time.)

scissors guess you didn't watch the biggest audience ever to see an outdoor hockey game yesterday, here in michigan...

they set up a rink at u of m's field and played mi state...

state lost, sad to say...

2 acres, the way our lions have been playing the packers arn't worried...sigh...

the roof more or less deflated, not like a hard structure...i just can't imagine how they remove that much snow...

there's gonna be an epic storm of chicago BEARS proportion to roll over the pats ;-)))) could not get me to be up there for anything LOL i'm freezing today in orlando at 70 and dropping fast! my dad, uncle and friends are going thou...they ea have season tix in different areas but this time they are using my uncles' seats that are in the enclosed box section lol. GO BEARS!!!!!!! ~ liz

susanjf, your lions have been playing good ball, they just can't close it out. They will one day and I'm hoping it's today. Go BEARS. We love them.

thanks for the shopping info....guess they are going to tough it out with what they brought with them. their seats are on the 9th row in the corner of one of the inzones. i'm told to look for orange ski masks.....ha!, like they will be the only ones with orange face masks!
my son was born outside of chicago and i remember many games that my husband braved the elements and went to watch the bears. son has seen them play but first time at soldier field. his sons have gone to the bear's football camp and are third generation fans. however, this day just might test all of their loyalty to it's limits. the grandsons will definitely remember it to tell their kids and grandkids!

OMG what a fabulous game.Our patriots played great under the conditions in Chicago. We play in that weather all the time here...So sorry Bears fans....but the PATRIOTS ROCK !!!!

that's o.k Bears are 9-4 and still in first place so i'm ok w/ this loss, now next week is the Vikings so we better maintain that #1 spot LOL! ~ liz

I live in Mass. and have dear friend who lives in Chicago. I promised him I wouldn't gloat.
