My 2 brothers & a couple of friends are stopping by to watch the game, not that our team (Eagles) is in it. We do so every year.

We're going to a friends house for a party. I'm trying 2 new appetizers out (my friends are my guinea pigs! :-).

Hi cactuscatie, welcome to the forum. I saw this in today's Los Angeles times, and it intrigued me. I haven't read it through yet, sorry. Recipe: Muldoon's whiskey-marinated wings January 30, 2008 Total time: 3 hours, Servings: 8 Note: Adapted from Muldoon's Newport Beach. The restaurant recommends Maytag for the blue cheese. This recipe makes slightly more barbecue sauce and dressing than is called for in the final recipe. Barbecue sauce 1 cup chicken broth 1/2 cup orange juice 1 1/4 cups chili sauce 1/2 cup molasses 1 cup ketchup 2 tablespoons soy sauce 2 tablespoons dry mustard Generous 1/4 teaspoon minced garlic 2 dashes Tabasco sauce 1 tablespoon plus 3/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce 1 tablespoon plus 3/4 teaspoon fresh lemon juice 1 1/2 teaspoons hickory liquid smoke In a large saucepan, combine the chicken broth, orange juice, chili sauce, molasses, ketchup, soy sauce, mustard, garlic, Tabasco sauce, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice and liquid smoke and bring to a boil, stirring the bottom of the pan regularly to prevent burning. Reduce the heat to a gentle simmer and cook an additional 45 minutes. Remove from the heat to a nonreactive container and allow to cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate until needed. This makes 3 1/2 cups sauce and will keep for 2 weeks refrigerated. Blue cheese dressing 1 1/4 cups mayonnaise 5 tablespoons sour cream 1 tablespoon lemon juice 2 drops Worcestershire 2 drops Tabasco 1/4 teaspoon white pepper 2 teaspoons sugar 2 ounces (scant 1/2 cup) blue cheese, crumbled 5 tablespoons celery leaves, minced 3 slender green onions, white part only, minced 1 tablespoon minced chives Combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon juice, Worcestershire, Tabasco, pepper and sugar in a medium bowl. Gently fold in the cheese, celery leaves, green onions and chives. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. This makes 1 3/4 cups dressing and will keep for 1 week refrigerated. Chicken wings and final assembly 1/2 cup Irish whiskey (preferably Bushmills) 2 1/2 cups teriyaki marinade 2 1/2 cups barbecue sauce, divided 1 teaspoon dried oregano 2 pounds chicken drumettes 1 cup blue cheese dressing 1. Heat the oven to 350 degrees. In a bowl, mix together the whiskey, teriyaki sauce, 1 cup barbecue sauce and oregano. Place the chicken wings in a large pan and pour the sauce over them. Cook for 2 hours, until the meat is tender and almost falling off the bone. Remove the wings to a foil-lined sheet pan and allow to cool slightly. 2. Brush each of the wings with a little of the remaining barbecue sauce. Place the pan under the broiler just until the sauce begins to char, about 2 minutes. Remove from the broiler and place the wings on a platter with the blue cheese dressing on the side. Serve immediately. Each serving: 403 calories; 16 grams protein; 23 grams carbohydrates; 2 grams fiber; 27 grams fat; 6 grams saturated fat; 54 mg. cholesterol; 1,648 mg. sodium.

oh Manitou Springs what a blast from my past! I love that town too, I used to drive there a lot just to hang out. Such a pretty place and fun. Have not been there in years and probably will never make it back. Yesterday I loaded my slow cooker with my pulled pork stuff and let it cook all day so we could have sandwiches for dinner. Hubby watched some of the game, we both tried to catch most of the commercials. I sat in my chair and played with my tablet surfing various sites and reading. I had bought some pantry storage cabinets so we put one of those together for my kitchen, it will be well needed storage. That pretty much covers it .

As every year, we are going to friends who have a 70" TV. They usually invite a dozen or people & it's a potluck. I'm making two appetizers: Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeno Thingies 20 Fresh jalapenos, 2 Â 3 inches in length 8 oz. Cream cheese, softened Thin, regular bacon, sliced into thirds Slice the jalapeno in half length-wise. With a spoon, gently scrape out the seeds and white membranes. Smear cream cheese inside each jalapeno half generously. Wrap 1/3 slice bacon around the jalapeno snugly, but not tight. Stick a toothpick through the middle of each one; this will keep the bacon from coming off in the oven. Place them on a pan with a rack (so bacon grease can escape) and bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Serve hot or at room temperature. Asparagus with Wasabi-Mayonnaise Dip 3 lb thin to medium asparagus, trimmed 1 cup mayonnaise 4 teaspoons soy sauce 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice 2 teaspoons wasabi paste Blanch asparagus in 2 batches in a large saucepan of boiling salted water 1 minute. Transfer to a colander and rinse under cold running water to stop cooking. Drain well and pat dry. Whisk together mayonnaise, soy sauce, sugar, lemon juice, and wasabi paste until sugar is dissolved. Serve asparagus with dip.

If your team continues to lose year after year to the Patriots in the run up to the Superbowl then you tend to not be that enthusiastic about them. That does not mean that you "hate" them. Just because you dis them and are not a fan does not mean you hate them. That's sports. I root for my alma mater in college sports and might trash talk other teams but I really don't care enough to hate them, and my indifference to a team could turn to love depending on how the game goes. I tend to like teams that have some kind of Cinderella story behind them and I also have certain teams that I know people affiliated with so I like them. Indifference, boredom or lack of rooting for a team does not equal hate. You can admire and respect the talents of a team but still wish your team had beat them!

Jammer and I are going to DS#1's house. DIL is planning dinner to celebrate of marriage and then we'll watch the Super Bowl. I'm a Cowboy fan of course, but I'll be pulling for the Giants on Sunday. I love professional football and DS has a great new flat screen tv that is perfect for football!

DS and I will be watching the game in our club room, DH may join us later but that is okay if he doesn't because that means more muchies for DS and I!!!

This will be our 29th year at the same party given by a gal I worked with 32 years ago. The party has been going for 31 years. About 50 people show each year and it's a blast!

Youngest sister has a party every year so we'll be going down to Indian Rocks Beach. Will stay with another sister plus two more sisters and spouses will be there. Five out of seven siblings together--and we always have a great time.

I'm going to a Club & having a steak din-din before the game & hot dogs & kraut at half time! Also snacks during the game & drinks!! All this for $15 bucks--Yippee!

I really don't know who I'll be rooting for--My favs didn't make it---sniff sniff

We are headed to Indian Rocks Beach also Patti! Annual SB party at my friends who have this 'mansion like' home on the Intercoastal. Live music from 2pm until game time. I'm making Manhattan Clam Chowder and individual Beer Cheddar Biscuit bowls to serve the soup in, and also my grilled 'Yankee Chicken' legs & wings.
No absolutely NOTHING about football but the party is a blast!! LOL

I love football, probably more than DH. We'll be watching the game at our house and we usually have people ask to come over. DH finished our basement and put in a projector and a 90 inch screen. It's pretty cool to watch big games down there!

I'm going to a Mardi Gras party. I don't do football, but sometimes I envy people who understand and enjoy the game.

I'm a pro football fan from my very young days....and a season-ticketholding JETS fans. DH and I will be cheering for anyone who can beat the Pats. Guess that means we are hoping the Giants win!

Going to a Christianing in the early afternoon, and most of the folks from that baby's party will be going over to her grandparents' house for the Super Bowl! Always a fun time.

I WANT TO GO TO INDIAN ROCKS BEACH, TOO!!!!! Darnitall.

I'll be watching at my parents' house, I'm spending tomorrow night with my mom, pops is out of town. Then Monday AM we're heading out early for a doctor's appt for her and some serious shopping!

We'll have chip and dip and burgers and fries for our party. And wine. lol

I'm going shopping! Streets are seriously empty during SB, so off I go. I would like to see Tom Petty, though, just not enough to suffer through the football.
