Are you trying new recipes for the 'big day'??

Caryn is going to a party and taking Reuben dip. Super easy and soooo good.

1 can corned beef

1 can sauerkraut

Swiss cheese

1000 Island dressing

Crackers

Let it all come to heat together in a small crockpot.

The Rueben dip is good! The recipe I have is a little different from yours though, I think I add Mayo and I use the Buddig meat, not the canned. Super with rye crackers!

One of the new recipes I'm going to try is in the link. I'll use the precooked bacon though as suggested by one of the reviewers and cook at 400 for 10 minutes. Don't they look good?

Nothing new for Super Bowl here. I might make the usual hamburger/jalapeno cheese dip.
That Rueben dip is soooooo good! DD has made it. Lydia I saved that Jalapeno Bacon recipe from Taste of Home intended to make it for Christmas Eve or New Years and never got around to it. I think they'd be super for Super Bowl!

Easy, and a made-up recipe, but I either buy canned red salmon on sale or can my own (King/chinook), you want the red or sockeye and not the pink canned salmon for this - Did you ever notice that commercially canned pink salmon is more gray than pink? Hannah's Salmon Spread One or two 15 Oz size canned red salmon, drained, any skin removed, flaked 8 oz cream cheese 16 oz sour cream (if making for a smaller group, cut back to 1 part cream cheese to 2 parts sour cream in the amounts you need) To taste: Chopped dill dash tabasco onion salt Mix the cream cheese and sour cream together till smooth, add the seasonings, stir in salmon last. I don't beat after adding salmon, only mix, I want flakes of salmon in the spread not an all pink spread - but it would taste the same either way. I made this for a family appetizer when my niece Hannah was about 2 yrs old and she all but dove into it. It's been a staple for family things ever since - one Easter I did not make it and she was so disappointed her Dad went to the store and bought the ingredients, we made it together. She's 21 now :)

oh Manitou Springs what a blast from my past! I love that town too, I used to drive there a lot just to hang out. Such a pretty place and fun. Have not been there in years and probably will never make it back. Yesterday I loaded my slow cooker with my pulled pork stuff and let it cook all day so we could have sandwiches for dinner. Hubby watched some of the game, we both tried to catch most of the commercials. I sat in my chair and played with my tablet surfing various sites and reading. I had bought some pantry storage cabinets so we put one of those together for my kitchen, it will be well needed storage. That pretty much covers it .

We are headed to Indian Rocks Beach also Patti! Annual SB party at my friends who have this 'mansion like' home on the Intercoastal. Live music from 2pm until game time. I'm making Manhattan Clam Chowder and individual Beer Cheddar Biscuit bowls to serve the soup in, and also my grilled 'Yankee Chicken' legs & wings. No absolutely NOTHING about football but the party is a blast!! LOL

Not really a superbowl person either. Although, I may turn it on for a bit since I know Joe Flacco's family (taught is father in high school) and one of DD's patients is starring in one of the commercials. Anyway, dinner is pot pies--chicken for DH, beef for me. And apple muffins that I made mainly to use up the leftover applesauce in the fridge.

No Super Bowl for me, but I make these all the time, whenever I have family!

Marinated cheese

1/3 cup olive oil
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 tsp Italian seasonings
1 teaspoon red chile flakes **I use less
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt **less salt
1-1/2 pounds cherry-sized mozzarella balls **I buy the cheese cubes, monterey jack/colby

Mix ingredients, pour over cheese, refrigerate overnite, turn several times.
Take out before serving to reach room temp. And right before serving, drain whatever is left.
Serve with toothpicks and crackers.

***You can also marinate ripe and green olives, but in separate containers from the cheese.

Sandy....this might be a dumb question...but .....the crackers.....are they for eating the dip on or do you crumble them up in the dip?

It sounds like you put them in the dip...but I'm thinking not.

I reread what I wrote, and yes, I did make it sound like you put the crackers in the mixture.

Nobody's coming over, so it'll be just me and hubby. I think we'll probably have nachos.

Nacho Cheese flavored Doritos
1 can refried beans
1 lb. hamburger, browned & drained
1 8 oz. pkg shredded cheddar cheese

Heat oven to 350

Spread refried beans on Doritos, and lay them side-by-side on a cookie sheet, just one layer. I can get about a third of a normal bag on my cookie sheet.

Sprinkle crumbled, cooked hamburger over the chips, then sprinkle shredded cheese. I have a pretty heavy hand when it comes to the cheese, so I use the whole pkg.

Bake 10 - 15 minutes, until cheese is melted & chips are hot. Eat immediately. Hubby and I can wipe out one cookie sheet between us.
