Van Johnson? He passed away at the age of 92. He was my celebrity crush when I was a young teenager. Maybe that is one of the reasons I married my Hubby. Red hair and freckles. LOL RIP. Van. Dottie

Have no worries about Elfin Fire! By this time next year, you will be dividing it into several plants. The description; "it is vigorous and makes several divisions each season", is probably the understatement of the year! I received a very small one, in error, during a purchase last fall and planted it in a 5" pot. When it emerged this spring, the pot was overcrowded with EFs! It's difficult for me to believe that 'Little White Lines' was one of the parents, as it was a complete dud in my garden. A "one-eyed" wonder for many years, before I trashed it. Guess I'm not a youngster here. My first bike was a 1947 Indian Chief bought secondhand in 1951. Then came a 1952 Indian TT Warrior 500 cc. One of the first vertical twins impoted. It was made by the British firm Royal Enfield. Then a 1964 BSA 500 cc Iron Single, B33. Started riding competition with a BSA Goldstar 500 and a Matchless 600cc single for hillclimbs. That bike had bottom end torque second to none. Last bike was a Yamaha 750cc Virago. A V twin and all around good bike. Now I have only memories of past times, all enjoyable. I met many friends Etc. on a bike. Yeah, we were a bit different from the 4 door Chevy/Ford/Plymouth milkshake guys but we had respect for each other and at times we knew the limits of our bikes and ourselves but not too often.

lisa. excuse my ignorance. but what's a mold claim? never heard that one. i told my kid when he became an adult to take all his pictures but two.he thought i would keep 11 shoe boxes full of pictures. and i did. for the next ten years or so. i needed room in the closet. told him it was his last chance or else. i would try to unload them on family members.maybe being older caused him to become sentimental. but not smarter. that boy believed me.

I subscribed many years ago. I know it's no longer in print. I think Vogue magazine put out a collection book of some of WB old patterns. Saw the book on Amazon but I'm too cheap to pay for it. I have plenty of knitting projects. And I can't crochet. I know I saved my old WBs. Now where did I put them? Maybe I can sell them on Ebay. I once found a Womans day from 1983 in my attic. Obviously some great recipe or craft idea in there!

Yes, of course I remember Van Johnson. He looked a lot like my red-headed great uncle, and they both had some Dutch ancestry.

I was sad to hear that he had passed away, but he did live a long, full life.

Did this just happen? He was the big heart throb when I was little I remember attending an Ice Capades show in Chicago and the spotlight was on him when he entered and took his seat I think he was going with Sonya Henie at the time.

I liked him and thought he got better with time. In later years he was on Murder She wrote tv show. Another good performance was Elizabeth Taylor's DH in The Last Time I saw Paris

RIP Van.
Loved them all but my favorite was Robert Mitchum. Still get chills when I see old movies with him in it. Of course at this age I probably just need to turn up the heat to get rid of the chill. lol

I remember reading that he was 4F during the war, so he was able to stay home, be in movies, and thus become a star. I always wondered what made him 4F. He seemed like such a nice, genuine fellow.

From IMDB - "he was in a major road accident which left him with a metal plate in his head. Ineligible to serve during WWII, he became America's war film hero, playing the amiable guy next door sent overseas to do his part for America"

No mention was made in the paper about "Miracle in the Rain". A real tearjerker, as I recall with Jane Wyman. Good chick flick.
