As a kid, I was a peeker! One year, I wanted a pair of go-go boots with fur around the tops. I carefully slid my fingers under the tape on one particular package and managed to feel inside a box with my name on it. FUR! I just KNEW I was going to get those boots!

On Christmas day, I was so disappointed when I opened the box and found a stuffed animal with a transistor radio inside. *sigh* It was still a pretty nice gift, but we only ever received one "big" gift, and that was mine for the year. That experience broke me of peeking... :-)

One time, as a kid, I opened a little box that had "45" records in it, I played one, then wrapped them back up! I can even remember, it was "Rockin Robin". Haven't done it since. Now, who's going to say "what's a 45?" lol

I don't think I've ever peeked. I have held, shook, etc to try to guess what was in the package.

I know what a 45 is! DH probably still has some around here somewhere. Yes, I've peeked and then was sorry b/c the surprise factor was gone.

But then when we were children, there were no Christmas presents nor tree till Christmas Eve. The parents locked the living room (in our case the attached dinning room too) and decorated the tree, and spread the presents under it.

At the "designated time" one parent that was still in there rang a bell, and we were told Christ child was there and putting the presents under the tree.

As soon as that parent came out, we were allowed in. Sang Christmas carols, said our poem we learned for this year and finally were allowed to take our presents.

No paper involved, and no Santa involved.

Later in Oklahoma I learned to do it the "American way", but still lag behind in setting up the tree, as our oldest daughter has her birthday the 16 th of December, and we don't set it up till after that.

No, never. I've had 2 wrapped gifts from my sisters sitting in my living room since November 11th and I haven't peeked once.

Well, it wasn't wrapped, but hidden until Christmas day. I peeked and snooped around till I found it. It was a doll from my uncle in Seattle, whom had moved there when I was very little. I was probably 7 or so. Never peeked again. When I found it, I was ashamed of myself for 'spoiling' his Christmas surprise for me.

My mom hid the presents in the same spot every year. One year sis and i went and peeked. They next year my mom wrapped gifts early. So my sis gently unwrapped the gifts and then rewrapped them. We realized that Christmas was not as fun when we knew what we were getting. So we never did it again.

I don't think I have peeked in many years now tho. Most of the time DH doesn't put mine under the tree until just before we open gifts...he KNOWS!

It was my paternal grandmother that taught me how to open a present without anyone knowing! HONEST!! I remember the day so clearly how she showed me! LOL She was the most fun person!!! =)

Yes, as a young child, but like some of you it spoiled the sweetness and made me feel terribly guilty. Would I do it now, even if I had the chance? No way...I've learned from my mistakes;o)
