need some photo editting help, please

This is a picture of me and two friends/old bosses. I would like to frame it but want to remove the umbrellas and parking lot background. I tried doing it in Photoshop but Eric said the edited picture looked much worse than having the umbrellas across faces and stuff. Might any of you photo editing geniuses have any better luck?

I know, we should have had a better picture taken but I forgot my memory card and we had to use a camera phone...

I'm not a photo editing genius, but I just want to say in my opinion the umbrellas don't detract from the picture. In a way, they enhance it. Also, if you remove the umbrellas, aren't the hands that hold them going to look very odd?

I don't know because they're still blooming and I've never grown them before. They are all very different though. Some have branched out and are covered in 15 or more buds at a time. Others are skinny and blooming 1-2 flowers at a time. Thanks Vera and Bakemom for the ID. For what it's worth it actually looks like a brown eyed susan. The middles are very brown and they are smooth, not fuzzy. I thought it was some kind of daisy because I also ws'd fulgida goldsturm and they haven't bloomed but the foliage is very different. Luckily I just happened to place one on each side of an ecinachea so it should look nice.

I like the New Venitian Gold. I too have to keep my outdated oak cabinets. But with the Persian Brown granite I selected, they will look fine. We are in the middle of our remodel. This site has been invaluable. Budget is probably the most important consideration for most. Keep things in perspective. Good luck and post after pictures.

I would agree, removing them would look odd since 2 of the 3 of you are actually holding the umbrellas. I would leave them, it adds color.

taigen, you did a great job removing the background!
Very professional.
But the hands look out of place.

I would crop the picture, taking as much of the umbrella's out as possible.

While the edit is really good, people will question why their hands are up so high. It doesn't look just right. I'd leave the picture as the original. There's nothing wrong with it and there's a reason why their hands are up on their chests.

Taigen, thanks! That looks better than mine. Do you know how to make it have a "clear background". then I could try it with different backgrounds i have on the other computer. If not, that's okay- I appreciate your help!

I don't think the hands look too odd. The lady on the left looks like she she is holding onto her shawl and the one on the right just looks like shes holding up her bag. Good job taigen.

Amazing!! It's just wonderful what they can do with a picture and it shows you really can't take for granted any picture you see published.

Janie_ga...glad you like it. It was a pretty quick job but you get the idea. Here is the photo with just the women no background...but saved as a jpeg it is white.

Here is it saved as a GIF with a clear background.

If you save them you should see the difference although on here they both appear as white backgrounds.
As I said this is a hobby of mine I enjoy playing around with.
Marygaily...you are quite right with all the technology and talent out there it is truly amazing what people can do with a photo. I very seldom put photos of my family on the net.
