Here is my Christmas tree..pic

I guess I should have taken a picture with the gifts under it...but they are all on the couch right now...Only because I was sitting right behind it, wrapping the gifts...and tossing them over on the couch....lol

I'm tired of wrapping...got to run out tomorrow and get just a couple more things...but I know what I'm after, so it shouldn't be too bad.

Thanks N. But the darn price, and the additional shipping puts it waaaay out of my range. :o( I thought I'd typed in every possible thing in the search box last night, LOL. Gingerbread was the key it seems. I'm sure those ornaments are glued to the wreath, at least I would have them glued myself. My DD's MIL has a small 4 ft table tree she uses for broken ornaments and its so darn cute. She even puts some small chipped wineglasses on it. Her Mishap Tree! But honestly, no one would have a clue anything on it was broken. (she's worse than me about throwing stuff out, and Christmas decorating. I love to see her stuff each year.) hugs, Karen

In the late 90's my Bride (Dirty Finger Nails) put up an upside down Xmas tree. Her motivation was the litter of kittens we had in the house at the time. Any of you that have had a litter of kittens around know that at Xmas time the traditional tree is on the receiving end of multiple attacks and ocassional destruction. The uside down tree is actually a very old idea... The Upside Down Christmas Tree Â It was a common tradition in Victorian times to display a "table top" tree in the parlor. Often the trees were too big for the table so the top would be cut off and hung upside down in another part of the house. This afforded the opportunity to have another tree to display the many handmade treasures collected over the years. Look for the upside down tree in the entry to Berry Manor Inn. In the 7th century, a monk from Crediton, Devonshire, went to Germany to teach the Word of God. He did many good works there, and spent much time in Thuringia, an area which was to become the cradle of the Christmas decoration industry. Legend has it that he used the triangular shape of the Fir tree to describe the Holy Trinity of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The converted people began to revere the Fir tree as God's Tree, as they had previously revered the Oak. By the 12th century in Central Europe, the Fir tree was being hung upside-down, from ceilings at Christmas time as a symbol of Christianity. The first decorated Christmas tree was at Riga in Latvia, in 1510. In the early 16th century, Martin Luther is said to have decorated a small Christmas Tree with candles, to show his children how the stars twinkled through the dark night.

thank you all....Kathy...yes I have some Martha Stewert ones...the off white, a plum color, a metalic olive color and a strange goldish color...I wanted something different a couple of years ago..but I always come back to these...I also have but didn't use a garland of the colored glass beads. And I have a big cardboard cover book of the Night Before Christmas from 1941 that I usually set out. That's from the year Denny was born. but it's not his...just one I picked up. I love old things... patti

Patti, that's so pretty. I also like the lace curtains behind the tree.
I usually put a tree in every room, but didn't put up even one big tree this year, because Luther can be pretty destructive. I have a small fiber optic tree on a table and that's it, but I miss all the decorating. I think I'll just throw caution to the wind next year and go back to my regular decorating.

Pattico, you have an ornament on your tree that looks very similar to an ornament that I have from my mother who got it in the 60's. Is that a vintage one or did you happen to find them somewhere? Its the larger one in the front that looks like it has striped red blue and gold with glittery stars? (I'd love to see a close up if you don't mind.)

Linda117....is this the one you are talking about..it's the only one I see with stripes and stars...(and the stars are nearly gone) the stars and the outline of the stripes were glitter at one time.

Clairdo...beautiful setting next to that fireplace and beautiful tree.

Just lovely! We spent 20 minutes last night trying to get our tree to stand straight until we discovered that the trunk has a bend in it! So we are resigned to have a tilting tree this year.

Your trees are lovely, with or without the packages under them....I'm glad I'm not the only one to look at the whole picture...I love those lace curtains in the background, Patti...And I dream of having a fireplace...
We put our tree up last week, big artifical thing, and it's crooked...No matter what we do, it leans forward and at this point, my DH said, that's the way it's going to stay....It really looks good from the front! As far as wrapping, all the gifts are sitting right here in the dining room, unwrapped, waiting for me to get with it....I'm hoping to find enough gift bags to fit everything in and save on the wrapping....It just wouldn't be right if I didn't wait until the last minute.....

Both of those trees are beautiful. Thanks for letting us see them.
Ours is pathetic. My DH went by himself to chose one to cut, and brought home a small one that looks like he rescued it from being trashed! Oh well, it'll do. (Next year I'll go with him.)

Linda...I'm not sure...if it is one of Denny's parents it is older that that..Denny and I were born in the 40...sheesh I'm getting old...lol
