Favorite GARDENING books and tv shows?

    Q

Since you asked, allow me to suggest this television show: 'Fresh From the Garden' on DIY Network. You may not get this, but it is a national show. DIY Network is a sister station to HGTV. This show is all about vegetable gardening, from seed to harvest. I may be partial though, because I'm the host of the show. If you'd like more info. check out www.diynetwork.com, and look up the show by title, or do a search. You can also google me (Joe Lamp'l) to find out more. Hope you get to watch.

Love all your rooms inside and out! Here are mine. Our DIY kitchen that we are still working on( DH rather) and our front porch. I used the painters tarp and grommet ideas for curtains for the porch so now we can sit and watch the storm.I call it the "biggest little porch in town" You are looking at the whole thing in the photo, there ain't no more. But it is big enough for 3 to sit and the 2 dogs can lie on the porch with us. We have our morning coffee outside after our walks. I included photos from May when I had painted the free CL loveseat and made pillows so you could see the colors in a better light. I am just using grosgrain ribbon right now, I plan to make tiebacks out of the stripe canvas. Of course the roses arent blooming like that now.

Wildchild, I am with you on the Sitcoms, love them all. I watched Mike and Molly and 2 1/2 men once last night and then watched it again with DH I thought I was going to lose it laughing so much.

Oh yes, The Medium, as Wildchild said.
That got cancelled last year, didn't it? So we're watching the re-runs on Fri nites.

Sleeperblues -- I totally agree, Dexter is the best shw ever, ever. I didn't mention this in my first post, cause I didn't think alot of people had Showtime.
Its soooo good. the only show that keeps me interested. What do you think about Baby Harrison saying, Die instead of Bye?

I watch almost no tv. I do like Antiques Roadshow and The Office, and I often fall asleep watching King of the Hill.

I love Modern Family. I laugh every time I watch. It was definitely the best choice for Outstanding Comedy Emmy this year. I thought Glee would win, but I'm glad Modern Family did because it's a better show by far.

I also like The Middle. It's very good as well.

I'm enjoying one on our PBS channel: Doc Martin.

As for Glee--tonight I took it off my DVR list. They have taken it in the wrong direction.

I think my favorites are Mad Men, The Good Wife, Masterpiece Mystery and Theater, The Closer and NCIS. I also like The Good Guys, Antiques Roadshow and The Defenders.

Me, too, I think "The Middle" is hillarious. What is with the little guy "Brick"? repeating himself. so funny.

Mad Men, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Criminal Minds, Brothers and Sisters, Private Practice, Survivor Amazing race(probably my fav).L&O, SVU and CSI NY.

NCIS, Law and Order SVU, House, Cold Case, Property Virgins, House Hunters. The CSI shows are past favorites, as I've kind of gotten out of the habit of watching them the past 2-3 years. Gary and I are also watching Friday Night Lights (on DVD from Netflix) and are really enjoying that series, which we had never heard of before.

The View, Amazing Race, Survivor & Medium.

Definitely the Big Bang Theory. I love those nerdy guys.

I watch so little TV, but it is on a lot! I like Antique Road Show and other Public TV programs. I watch the Twins during the season, but Netflix movies otherwise. Right now I'm watching "Six Feet Under" and love it. Language a bit strong, along with the sexual athletics, but good story. I guess, other than the news, that is it.

I am SO so sick of cop and lawyer shows on tv. It's pretty much all that's left of the drama's now. We lost count after 25 cops/lawyer shows when we tried counting. The only one I like is NCIS.

As for present all time favourite comedy? THE BIG BANG THEORY! It's hilarious!

Oh dear! How did I forget Dexter? I LOVE Dexter!!! I even got a Dexter t-shirt from teefury.com this week. Okay, so it's another cop show (that I hate watching). But it's a cop show with a twist. Or should I say a twisted person? LOL

We have quite a few. Survivor, Hell's kitchen, Amazing Race, and Friday Night Lights, Law and order SVU. We really like Blue Bloods, so good to see Tom Selleck back in action and truly a great character for him. Detroit 187? with Michael Imperio? from Sopranos is also good. We also enjoy Little People and the Little couple. Intervention is also a good one.

    I LOVE Dexter!!!

Also just started watching Boardwalk Empire, starring Steve Buscemi. It's excellent! Reminds me of Deadwood, but set in Atlantic City during Prohibition Era.

I watch Dexter and Boardwalk Empire online because I refuse to pay for cable.

I love Modern Family too when I happen to catch it, also The Office and 30 Rock. I don't watch these every week though, only if I happen to be home and see that they're on. The only regular tv show I never miss is Parenthood. Love it.

We don't watch much commercial TV. We like "Jeopardy" (when it's not pre-empted by some dull sports event) and some of the Masterpiece Theater presentations. We enjoy DVD's of cozy mysteries, movies, some British TV series (like "Doc Martin" and "New Tricks", both of which are still being filmed). We record "Hawaii Five-O" for the glimpses of Hawaii. (DH calls it the 'tropical cartoon' show.)

I've seen "Big Bang" and thought it was good, but I can't stand laugh tracks.

I think we'll start watching "Mad Men" via DVD.

Thanks Suzieque. I haven't watched it all along, and got into it over the summer. Currently watching it on Friday nites. I guess those are new shows. I'm sure I read last year that it was one of the ones cancelled. I'm glad it's not.

I thought her marriage might be in trouble last Friday. Glad to see they worked, or are working it out.

Hey Trisha, I get Dexter through netflix so I don't know what is going on in the current season. I was kinda bummed because I knew Rita got killed off in the last season just from reading Entertainment magazine so I wasn't shocked at the finale, but DH sure was!

I have seriously been considering canceling TV.

There is so much stupidity in most of the comedies, and watching those shows one time is all I need to not watch it again.

I'm so tired of seeing bare flesh, mostly on women, leaving very little to the imagination. And sex is everywhere.

Foul language isn't even beeped out any more.

I watch Desperate Housewives, and now I believe it is the writers who are desperate. I watch The Apprentice, and this season is a sorry lot of contestants.

I like the legal shows, but only if they are real cases.

"Breaking News" is repeated day after day. Why? We heard it the first time.

The shows that I have watched the most are some old movies, Pickers, Pawn Stars, Little People and The Little Couple and GASP! I watch the Duggars. I do like the house hunting shows, but there again...Property VIRGINS. Sex is everywhere, like I said.

If what we are seeing on TV is what is "normal" in most families, we are much worse of than I ever thought was possible.

Yes, I am prudish; look it up. I was taught morals, dignity, good manners. Those traits are fast disappearing judging by what we see on TV. I don't like to hear things like "Things are different now." Things are only different now because too many have given up and just accepted that theory.

Stepping off the Soap Box now.
