We just finished putting ours up. We get soooo busy at work after the first week of December, with Christmas parties, that if we didn't do it this weekend...it would not have gotten put up. We have been known to still have it up in April, when we slow down enough at work to take it down.

We always have a large real tree, and it goes up the weekend before Christmas.
But, we did pick up wreaths for the doors. Fresh cut greens with big red bows.

Yep....took it out of the closet and set it in front of the window! LOL It is just a 4' one. We decorated big time when the kids were little, and will again when we have more little ones running around here.

I put one up in the sunroom the other day but haven't put the one up in here yet. Maybe when I'm off the next couple of days I will.

Nope,usually put it up the first week of Dec,but this year i'm not even sure i'll bother with it.The GGK's no longer live near by and the GK'S all but 2 are grown and on their own and live out of town,except for 2,and they live up the street,but they'll have their own tree,and what with school and the one goes to her dads house and all i don't think i'll bother.Of course that can change at any time,and i may put it up anyway.DH never helps with it,and never has.He's a scrooge when it comes to xmas.LOL

Next Sunday my living tree will go up. I have to paint the living room first.

The fresh tree will go up the tenth or the 17th; depending on when Custer and the kids got get it.

I hope to get the outside light up this week too.

We are so undecided about putting up our big (fake) tree or buying a 4' fake or real one. The problem is the new kitty he is 6-7 months about now and kinda on the wild side. I have never had a kitten before but have heard they climb the trees, my DD's kitty pulled hers over when he was little.

I can't imagine having a Christmas tree up that long. We put ours up just a few days before Christmas and take it down New Years Day.

Mine is up and will stay up until at least January 5th. I love decorating and it helps me survive the winter blahs. DH and I actually put it up a couple of days ago. We have two cats that like to lie under the tree so I have fuzzy blankets under there for them to lie on. The tree is artificial and a bit on the prickly side so they don't climb it. Of course they are older now too. They love the heat from the lights and stay under it for hours so we now call it their tree.

I'd love to go back to the old tradition of putting the tree up Christmas Eve (after all, I don't run a retail establishment, so no real reason to put mine up weeks, months ahead of time), but because there is sometimes so very much to do the last few days before the holiday, I do put it up the weekend before Christmas (and leave up till Epiphany).

If there's anything I hate, it's visiting friends or relatives over the holiday and seeing ornaments that need dusting or re-polishing. Takes all the sparkle and luster out of the holiday for me--I like the decorations to look bright and new on Christmas.

Sorry to those of you who like to look at the tree for weeks before, it just not my cup of 'tree'.

It is still THANKSGIVING weekend... no Christmas here yet!

I'm slow this year I hope to get mine up this weekend I didn't put one up last year I can't believe it.

Tomorrow I'd like to get my porch lights up and the decor changed from Fall to Christmas If I can get that done I'll be happy.

Yep - got it up last night and the house decorated. I hate the processing of getting it out, going through all the boxes looking for stuff, but love it once it's done. It'll come down either Christmas afternoon/evening, depending on whether or not we're home, or the day after. There's no way I could leave one up until after the first of the year - even if I put it up later, by the time the presents are unwrapped and Christmas is over, I want the tree down and the house back to normal.

I've been known to have it up Thanksgiving weekend, but with the new kitten we are waiting a couple weeks.

Not yet...we have too many little fingers around here all day to put it up early. I'm thinking maybe a few weeks before Christmas. I just don't have the energy to keep 6 kids aways from it everyday for too long! It's a fake tree so it can go up quickly in no time.....last year we had a real one. I like to switch off now and then. I love real trees but sometimes the fake one is less hassle!

Noperoo! Neither does my daughter. I doubt I will again this year. Haven't in a few years now but really beginning to miss having one.

Funny you ask. I went out to the grocery this afternoon, came back to find our artificial tree half put together! DH was supervising, our DSs age 14 and 11 were putting the branches up and lights on as they went (that's how we do it, it's old, not prelit). DD age 8 and DS age 5 were on the floor "fluffing" the rest of the branches. It was team work, but DH was only coaching!

I would not have done it yet. I think this is the earliest we've ever had it up. But, it's not done. There are no ornaments yet! And I honestly don't see that happening before next weekend. That's why I would not have done it yet. Now it's a work in progress for a week.

That, and I had to convince the 5 y/o that Santa will not come tonight!

I knew someone who'd get the decorating done well before the end of November, saying it took a fair bit of time and effort, so it should be up for a good amount of time to make it worthwhile.

We always get a real tree, dh and the kids want to get the tree beginning of December, and I make them hold off until at least the 10th if not later (kids think if the tree is up, then the presents appear!). By the time we get to Dec 27th, I feel like a grinch 'cause I want to take the blasted thing down and throw it out, and dh whines it needs to be up until the New Year.

I can't even imagine going to all the work to put a tree up, just to take it down a few days later.

Nope, I'll put both up the 1st week in December.

Put up one of mine yesterday. I still have a small one that I will put out on the patio. This is the first time I've ever put it up this early but I was in the mood so it may have been "now or never"!

Yes, my daughter in college likes to help put it up but she was going back to school yesterday after Thanksgiving break. She won't be home until Dec. 14th and I didn't want to wait that long to put it up so we did it Saturday.

Mine will go up next Sunday. I'm taking the following week off, so the Christmas village and the house lights will go up then too.

Nope, I'm pretty sure I'm going to pass on dragging out the artificial tree and ornaments. I just ordered this Palm Tree and I am thinking of using it Christmas.

My old tree is beautiful with it's all silver and white ornaments. But, I'm ready for something new.

Love the palm trees Gayle! Those are very popular here. I see lots of them on patios. I have a small white tree that I use on our patio by the pool. I'm trying to decorate it with a "sand and sea" theme. I have starfish, coral, seahorses, etc. I'll try to get it put up by next weekend.

Nope. DH and I just had a discussion about the tree this morning. He'd like to put up a small pencil tree instead of the big one. I will miss the big tree but agree with him. None of the family will be here until after Christmas, so we will take the easy route this year. I'll still decorate the doors and mantel.

I put my tree up the day after Thanksgiving. It's such an effort to get it up and decorated, as I have gingerbread ornies hanging from every single branch of this 7-1/2 foot tree. It's great when it gets finished but every year, it becomes more of a dreaded task. If it wasn't for my grandaughter, I might have passed on a big tree this year. I used to put my tree up later in the season but I like to enjoy it longer now.

I don't put up any Christmas decorates, until mid december or later.

No, for me, it's still too early, also with 3 cats, it's hard to keep them away from everything!! LOL!!

It is a tradition in my family to go buy the tree and decorate it the day or weekend after Thanksgiving. We also go to downtown Chicago to see Santa and the windows at Marshall Field's(now Macy's). About 6 years ago we went the weekend before Thanksgiving. It was the only time we could that year. It was wonderful! No crowds and no lines. Since then we go every year the weekend before Thanksgiving. However too many people are catching on. Its getting a little crowded. But if you get there around 10am its not too bad.

No! but then it's WAY WAY WAY too early! Ususally about a week before!
we go either to a tree farm, or up to the mountains to chop one down! this year, probably a tree farm. too fun!

No kids home anymore but they still want us to have a tree. so DH will go up and get it, when he gets enough energy to do it. Has to take the bag off of it and set it on the table I cleaned off for it.

Nope, probably next week-end. DH had football on all weekend long & the tree is right next to the TV (small apt.) & we'd be "in his way", so next weekend will be better, I hope. My neighbors decorated with lights, etc. all in front of their apt. but it's still a little early for me.

Ran out of time but I would have liked to put up the tree and other decorations yesterday. We still have our entire lighted d56 snow village to put up; which takes at least 2 days. Hope to work on that next weekend, so we are not making any plans.

I decorated the house and put the tree up yesterday even though I wasn't at all in the mood. It was nice to wake up to a decorated house though. I'm glad I got it over with. I don't do much which is why it isn't all that satisfying. The entire house doesn't have that Christmas-y feel that I would like it to have.

Actually, I've got two. One is decorated and the other is waiting for me to get in the mood and my feet to quit hurting. I'm working on it though. McCloud is on the roof today, stringing lights. I can hear him clomping all over the place while I sit here at the computer.
