I'm listening to Faye Kellerman's Blindman's Bluff, but I'm thinking of giving up on it because I find the reader irritating. He's one of those male readers who make women's speech sound silly. He'd be much better off speaking the women's dialogue in a normal voice. I also don't like the way he inflects some of the male dialogue.

At home, I'm finishing up Cure Unknown, an excellent book about Lyme disease written by a medical journalist who contracted the disease along with her whole family. And I'm reading (like a novel) one of Ina Garten's Barefoot Contessa cookbooks, Back to Basics. So many people seem to like her recipes.

Almost finished "Rich Boy", a new novel by Sharon Pomerantz.
Fantastic story of a man from age 16 (in early 1960's) through adulthood.

A must read.

Just finished Safe Haven by Nichols Spark...

We're reading a series of book by Lee Child. The one I'm reading now is Running Blind. The one to start with is Killing Floor. They're good- Woody is reading them and so is my mom. Action/mystery/whodunit/murder/mayhem. Great hero, Jack Reacher. A couple of my quilty friends turned me on to them.

I really liked Safe Haven...did you know that it's slated to be made into a movie?

The story is perfect for film.

flamingo, I LOVE Lee Child. I read 61 Hours last week and it was one of the best. I've read all his books except for the new one. My daughter says they need to be read in order, but I was too far gone when she told me that. LOL I know Carol enjoys him, too.

I'm reading an older book--Death in Zanzibar by M.M. Kaye who wrote The Far Pavilions, very popular in the 70's. Some here may remember that book (actually I think it was 2 volumes).

I just picked up Game Change at the library. It was recommended to me by a fried who heard the authors speak recently. My library had 5 copies of it on the shelves.

Hotel On the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford. Takes place during World War II and covers the Japanese Internment. Interesting but so far not "I can't put it down" kind of book. I love these posts. Gives me great ideas for future books.

My husband is a big fan of Lee Child also. I have not started any of his yet but we have all of them.

Im reading a Peter Robinson "All the Colors of Darkness" right now. I've only read one other of his and enjoyed it so he is on my list to read. I just finished a book I picked up at a gift shop when in Colorado. I was done with the book I had brought along, and found "Fleece Navidad", a knitting mystery, from a series that takes place, of course, in Colorado. What a lame book....one I flung across the floor, as Dorothy Parker would say.

Lavon46, Edgar Sawtelle is a wonderful book, IMHO.

The autobiography - Susan Boyle - The Woman I Was Born to Be. Reading it on my iPad purchased from Amazon for $12.99. Really enjoying it. For me, some books are more expensive reading this way as I never bought books new. I would wait for the garage sales to have them. There are so many free books on Amazon that it all evens out in the end and they do not add to the clutter. However, there is significant savings in buying a digital book over a new paper copy.

Dragongirl, by Todd McCaffrey. I do NOT recommend it. It's childish and boring. Might be a good teen read. (20 years ago I read all 20 of the previous books by his famous mother. Her son is now an author using his mothers genre)

I have recently finished The Painted House and Playing for Pizza by John Grisham. I have Twilight Eyes by Dean Koontz on cd in the car and started Winter Study by Nevada Barr last night. I like the Anna Pigeon series by her. Dean can sometimes go over the top.

I just started "206 Bones" by Kathy Reichs. I really like her books...but I like her show ("Bones") better.

I'm rereading J.D. Robb series. there's a new one coming in February so I wanna be up on the back story. OK, let's be honest here. I would reread them even without the new one coming. I love Eve Dallas and Rourke. I reread a lot of books. There's lots of time I just want something familiar when things get a little tense.

I just finished "Annabel" by Kathleen Winter, an excellent novel. It is set in Newfoundland & Labrador.

Now I'm trying to decide what to bring on the plane with me on Saturday, probably "Change of Heart" by Jodi Picoult.

I've been reading, "The Last of the Mohicans" on my cell phone, when I'm in court. (Never read it before, and I want to see how the book differs from the movie.)

Then, a couple weeks ago, I got "Into the Wilderness" by Sara Donati at the library - only to find that's it's a sequel to "The Last of the Mohicans." I haven't had a lot of time to read recently, but am enjoying it a lot.

Went to library to return Safe Haven and found this book for fifty cents....it is a can not put it down book for me....The Florabama Ladies Auxiliary and Sewing Circle by Lois Battle...have any of you read any of her books?...

I am just a few chapters into "The Memory Keeper's Daughter" and about a third of the way through "The China Study" (about nutrition and disease, pro-vegan) and am itching to start "Fat to Skinny" (a low carb diet book). "The China Study" and "Fat to Skinny" totally contradict each other... why do I do this to myself? lol

Not much reading going on right now as we are busy doing household stuff.

I'm reading "Brimstone" by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. It's good, book 5 in a series.

Recently read all three of the "The Girl Who..." trilogy. Today I finished HotBlooded by Lisa Jackson. Good murder mystery that takes place in New Orleans.
