Admit it. Have you been sampling?

One of my friends told me that last year she bought a fully cooked deep fried turkey home the day before Thanksgiving. She turned it upside down so she could eat some of it without it being visible and then served it as a hole turkey the next day. Anyone have similar habits? Not my thing, but I thought it was funny.

I haven't really been sampling but then again, I haven't made the stuffing yet!

I made gingersnap ice cream sandwiches to go with my individual pumpkin custard.

Of course I sampled :o)

It helps a lot if you have someone to blame. Way up here in Atlantic Canada we are used to getting everybody else's hand-me-down weather. You guys in North Carolina and Pennsylvania and New York City get pummeled with snow moving up the Atlantic seaboard, but you never give a thought to where it all ends up. HERE! Then there are you otherwise friendly mid-westerners in Illinois and Ohio and Michigan who send your stuff eastward through northern New York and New England. And where does it end up? HERE! Actually, as I look out today, there is little to complain about. The sky is a huge dome of the clearest blue, and the sun is so bright you need sunglasses. Of course, underneath there is an immense blanket of pure white snow and it's cold (14 degrees F.) But it's gorgeous, and the redpolls, chickadees, cardinals, mourning doves, goldfinches, purple finches, and woodpeckers think so too. But on the days that it gets to me, I just place the blame squarely where it belongs: on those left-wing pinkos from the east coast of the United States or those raging Tea Party, rightwing extremists from the Midwest. And then I feel a lot better. It's not my fault!

I had to look it up to see if it's the show I was thinking of since I have only seen it a few times. Must have been in a motel where I saw it or something unless it's on broadcast sometime. I don't know. But I enjoyed the show. I worked with private investigators for a while and there's some similarities. Some of their approaches parallel some of my approaches for serving legal process on people trying to duck service. And the stories from the PIs were similar in many ways. I just wondered if I could smell silicone over the tv when his wife would pass by? I can understand why some would want her to take them down, handcuff them and smother them! LOL Tidbit of trivia, former wrestler Dave "The Redneck"/"Dr. D" Shultz was a bounty hunter. He was the one who slapped around the ABC reporter John Stossel for saying professional wrestling was fake.

Judy does what I've always done when seeing your creations Flamey. I have to come back or look them over time and again to see all of the tiniest of details you add. I remember dissecting Nectarine and her paraphernalia when I had her just to see the terrific handy work and how your talented and creative mind works. :)

I love a good roast, but it has to be a chuck roast because of the taste and tenderness. Years ago DH made a roast beef sandwich for me and I almost gagged looking at it because it had mayo, pickle relish, and s&p. I took a bite & was hooked. it's the pickle relish that makes it. Now I sometimes make roast for sandwiches only. Love them in the summer with layered dip, which I could eat everyday. One Christmas someone cooked a crown roast. I was so excited because I'd never had one before. When I saw all the fat on it after taken out of the oven, I almost got sick. lol. Thankfully a turkey was also there.

I've been sampling all day to make sure everything is seasoned right. So much so that dinner doesn't sound all that appealing! Adellabella, have you been sampling?

Well, I opened the bag of chips to go with the hummus and I've been eating them all afternoon. I'm not cooking so I'm not sampling -- yet.

Yep! DD2 gave birth to her new baby girl Monday evening, they came home today. I just finished cooking the full dinner to take to her house tomorrow. DH is carving the turkey as I type, and I'm about to go sample. We already had a bowl of mashed potatoes and gravy and called it dinner! LOL

I baked an apple pie and made my bread stuffing - being a good Mom, I wanted to sample these to make sure no one would get sick - I survived. I will most likely continue to sample these items until bedtime - just to be certain they are still good!!!

I just made the orange cranberry sauce, and it had to be tasted to see if there was enough sugar in it. ;-) Then I added the orange juice and tasted that. Then a dash of cinnamon. Taste. Then the orange pulp and zest. Taste. Then the Madera wine. Taste.

I was surprised that I had any left over for tomorrow. It's so yummy when it's hot.

I cooked my turkey today, it's all off the bone, and I love that yummy

Not tonight. DD is cooking, and I am doing dessert. I haven't started yet! Guess I will be starting early and not watching the parade.

I have cooked only the pumpkin bread and the cranberry sauce. Like Ravin, I will be doing all the rest of the cooking tomorrow. My sister will bring the dessert, salad and vegetables, and my new DIL will bring her rolls. I will stuff and roast the turkey and also prepare sweet potatoes and twice baked potatoes, corn pudding, mincemeat peaches, mulled cider and a couple of other things. I will be pooped tomorrow night and ache all over.

I baked pumpkin bread this evening to take to my cousin's tomorrow. I made 3 loaves and have had 2 slices while the bread was still warm.

Sampling?! I bought mixed nuts in the shells last week and had to go back for more today because there weren't many left.
