Infor regarding Citi Credit Cards

Got my bill today and I always try to check the address where the payment is sent. They changed from Des Moines IA to Columbus Ohio. If I had not caught it who know where the payment would have gone and to what account.

Called them--got the guy from India and ask him if I had sent the bill without changing the address (on line banking) what would happen--all he said was to mail the check to the address listed. Could not answer my question.Just a heads up!!

I always send that type of bill in the envelope provided, with the pre-printed address showing in the window. How could I send it to a wrong address?

Check you account number - should be the same, I reckon.

Are the items the ones that are correct?

Do you have an option of transferring the payment electronically from your bank to their account? I show my bill, the bank takes the necessary info, bills my account and signs my bill.

No fuss, no muss ... no postage ... and, as I'm a senior, no fee for the transaction/shipment of the money out.

ole joyful ... whose car quit on the road today, was towed by CAA ... and who received the bill for next year's membership, along with a new card, in today's mail

I have used Drimmer's on Coney Island Avenue for years - mostly because my contractor has a relationship with one of the salespeople (Irv). I can't say that their prices are competitive with what you would find online but Irv has always been very helpful and he sent two surveys for me (to see if the subzero would fit off the elevator and then for the miele's when I changed my mind). watching the delivery guy get the 30" Miele in off my ridiculously small service elevator was awe inspiring. They had to take it out of the box and off the dolly and manually inch it and tip it until they could get it thru. I was very grateful that they got it in and didn't have to take it away (which apparently happens often in nyc apartments)

"Suppose a bill was approx 428.00. If you made no more charges, payed mim. amout it would take 3 years to pay this off and you would pay 544.00 in interest!! That is scary. Like I said, please read your statements very carefully especially this month and the new rules went into effect today, but there are loopholes also." This is actually BETTER THAN the way it used to be. The minimum amount due each month has INCREASED, which LOWERS the amount of time it will take to pay off the total balance; and it also LOWERS the total amount that you will have paid by the time it's totally paid off. Another change that is an improvement is when you have balances that are subject to different finance charge rates... Here's how the old system worked --- Let's say you have a card with a $468 balance at 22% interest. The card issuer runs a promotion where you can transfer a balance from a different card, and pay only 1.99% interest on that transferred balance. So, you transfer $500 from another card. You make a payment of $125. That payment will be applied towards the $500 balance at the lower interest rate, so the bank will charge you the maximum interest on the $468, because there wasn't any payment made against it. Each month when you make your payment, the payment will be applied towards whatever remains from that transferred $500. It's only AFTER the $500 is paid off that any of your monthly payment will be applied towards that original $468. And all that time, you'll be hit with a high monthly finance charge. Under the new system, if you have balances at different interest rates, any payment you make will be applied first towards the balance with the higher interest rate. This will ultimately save you $$$ in finance charges. Another thing that has changed is Over Limit Fees. Used to be that if you had, say, a $10,000 credit limit and a $9,000 balance owing, you could still charge more than $1,000 and the bank would accept the transaction, and then they'd turn around and tack on a $35 (or more) fee for going over your credit limit. Now, they won't charge that fee, BUT THEY WON'T ACCEPT ANY TRANSACTION THAT WOULD PUT YOUR BALANCE OVER YOUR LIMIT -- UNLESS YOU AGREE, IN WRITING, TO ALLOW OVER LIMIT FEES FOR ACCEPTING THE ADDITIONAL TRANSACTIONS. We pay nearly everything by credit card & are the exception to "most people" (do not buy more stuff) & pay it off every month. Ya, same here. I was out shopping once with a friend and I was purchasing something on my CC and she asked, when you charge everything, how do you know you can afford it? I guess the answer to that is I just do. I don't tend to buy frivolous stuff often, although certainly occasionally. But in any case, I do have a pretty good sense of what price I'm willing to pay for something and whether I will have the money to pay for it. I like -not carrying a lot of cash -getting back money on what I spend -being able to look back and see what I spent my money on over the last month I do agree that some (most?) people do buy more stuff and do get themselves into debt and that that is how those CC companies make a LOT of money. But for the ones of us who don't fall into that trap, IMO, CCs are way better than cash!

While it is true that credit ceilings are based on income and opening new cards requires income verification, credit scores themselves have little or nothing to do with income. One thing to remember when closing cards is to try to always keep the oldest and keep it active by occasional use. My own credit score took a hit when I payed off my vehicle. I pay them off early. I was still in the very good/excellent numbers but still a 24 point hit just for paying off a loan. That's the account diversity part. But it is inching back up and now I am in a good time of closing or opening new credit again and not having hard inquiries affect me much if at all. Another thing to watch for is cards that "upgrade" you to rewards cards and such. Some do it automatically, others have an opt out feature. For example some stores will upgrade you to a store card to a combined use anywhere Retailer/Mastercard for rewards. Often these upgrades are reported as new accounts creating a hard inquiry on you record.

I have my bank account information with my credit card company, so I can pay with just one phone call - don't have to mail the payment.

Clarification: I use my computer for online banking and fill in the information in a special format. That stays the same each month unless I change it. Sorry for the misunderstanding. It is paid electronically--no mail--no phone--no fees

So if you pay online, why do you even care that the payment address has changed?

The payment address for my card has changed numerous times (I've had it 30 years), but why would you assume it's a scam? It would take a massive effort to put out bills to credit card holders which looked legitimate, and with reasonable charges on them - in other words, it's just not going to happen.

I pay mine online. Since it's always the same CC number, I'm sure they'll sort it out.

I do everything here in town and in person if possible. I have a CC from our company's CU which is a half mile from my home.

I remember the old days when, as a courtesy to customers, stores would accept utility bill payments and send the money to the company. My Mother used to bring her gas and electric bill to a local Stationery Store, along with cash, and settle her bills that way. Another funny thing is, she had several store "charge plates" which were like credit cards. and she got a "Mastercharge" card for "emergencies only" but never got around to using it in about 40 years. She was very frugal.

Most of our bills are paid on line, but if the company to which the payment is being made does not have electronic transfer--think a doctor's office or small, local business--my bank actually writes a check and mails it. If the address had changed, the check might not get there on time or be returned to the bank, delaying my payment. I've tried to program myself to check the address to which the payment is being sent for that very reason.

The way I know if the business, doctor, etc. doesn't have electronic transfer is by the number of days it takes to get processed. Most things are paid the next business day; however, some payments take four days. That tells me the bank had to write a check and mail it. Either way, I save on postage and writing my own checks.

My bills are paid by auto draft. The only ones I pay are insurance, taxes and the CC bill.
