Turkey will take about 5 hours to cook... I am NOT getting up in the wee hours of the morning to stuff and cook it!

Usually at one, but this year I made snacks--bacon wrapped water chestnuts, party mix and hot and sweet pickles. Plus green and black olives and mini-corn dogs (for Alex). We'll have those around noon and have dinner around 4:00.

Dinner will be at 2.

I never liked it when my mom cooked it for us, she would have it early but then there was still supper to eat and I would rather have had it at supper time instead.

So, when my dad and I took over the cooking here, we told her it was going to be at supper time and much better that way.

We usually eat between 4 and 5. That reminds me, I have told anyone the time yet, I need to make some calls!

We eat about 6:30 and prefer it then. We have plenty of time for those who aren't staying over to drive the 45 minutes home.

Years ago, when I was a teen (and was the chief cook since my mother had died a few years earlier and my older sister had moved away with her new husband), I served the turkey dinner early for the first time. Come evening, my father asked me when was I going to serve dinner. I pointed out all the leftovers he had to choose from. He insisted that I serve a dinner with no leftovers included. That was the late '50s, and I don't know what I rustled up to serve as that was Thanksgiving night and I usually did not keep an extra meal's worth of vegetables and meats ready to go. I have never served an early Thanksgiving dinner since then and never will.

Last minute clean up Thursday morning,watch the Macy's Parade, start cooking around noon, turkey breast in oven around 1 pm, eat at 3 pm, dessert at 5, phone calls to family in the evening. A full day!

We usually eat around 4 PM.......DD and Mario always go to his mom's house and she has her meal around 1 PM.....they stuff themselves there and then come here.
I don't know how they can eat so much and stay within a normal weight range.
But, this year it will just be DH and I ......I have been sick for several weeks with asthma and didn't feel like making a big dinner.

We eat at 6, 6:30 as well. It just takes me that long to get everything together! And I grew up eating T-giving dinner at the usual dinner time. Sheilajoyce, I guess in those days you and most young people didn't cross The Dad. Do you look back on that day and wish you had revolted and told him to make his own sandwich??:)

This year appetizers are at 1:30 and dinner at 3 or 3:30. Dessert later. I like to eat earlier than a typical dinner so we can go back and pick later!

Like dinner late in the afternoon about 3-4. years ago Grandparents always at noon, because my Uncle had to go to the HS to work the homecoming football game at 2pm. Then we snacked, never thinking about getting sick off the food left out. Guess we were just plain lucky.

Normal dinner time - 6:30ish. I've actually turned down invitations to neighbors' gatherings because they are so darned early.

I hate having a huge meal mid-afternoon and then feeling peckish in the evening!

But no one is traveling here, so we have no time constraints.

We always eat at 12:30, that way if others want to go elsewhere or take a nap they have time to. Also I won't have to cook for supper! I don't like eating later.

We eat at 1:00. Then we watch football. Then we leave and my ex and his wife come and eat around 6:00 or 7:00. We always go to my son's house for Thanksgiving dinner.

My son is coming from Pittsburgh, PA and wont be here until late afternoon. We'll be eating around 6:30 - 7:00.

Ours will probably be between 3-4! Makes it easier for everyone!

My father was a police officer when I was growing up, so sometimes we had dinner at 1:00 (if he had to be at work at 3:00) or we had it at 5-6 (if he worked days), so I am used to different times. Tomorrow dinner is at 2:00.

About 1:00, then we hang out and try to clean it up for supper...kinda pick and choose, everyone on their own!

We eat around noon. Gotta let that digest so we can eat again for supper! LOL

I'd say about 1 pm, then eat again for supper.

Maryann, I know your family must be so grateful to be having Thanksgiving with you this year. It surely will be a joyous celebration!!

About 12:00 because they go to thier wifes families after here.

With my family growing up, we always ate by 1:30 or 2:00, but my husband thinks that is way too early.

We have compromised on 3:00.

We eat around 3:30. It give me plenty of time to cook and also plenty of time to enjoy company after dinner.
