Oh, yes, I agree on the edit option, too. Can that be too difficult to include? Of course, I don't know what all that would entail, but it would be nice.

Maybe folks could edit themselves before they post~~~or maybe the original poster could have the option to delete postings from their original post~~just thinking out loud;)

I've never seen a forum where the OP could delete others' comments. The edit option is used only by the actual poster. I don't like the "number of reads" option because my feelings would be hurt if 1000 people read my thread but only 4 responded, whereas Jane's thread had 100 reads and 100 comments.

I think the 'edit' feature would only work well if you could only 'edit' it before anyone else posted after you.. otherwise someone might say they agreed with you (or whatever) and then if you changed your post things might not make sense or maybe the second poster would no longer agree with your new post... then they'd edit their post and on and on. lol

I don't see that Lunchlady's thought of the OP having the option of deleting posts would work either. I think we'd see some fights start because of that.. plus we'd have some very one sided 'pepsi vs. coke' type posts. lol

I would LOVE it if there was someway to keep track of what threads you posted in; if someone asks you a question and you never go back to that thread; they make think you're ignoring them.

Or at the very least, have an email notification if someone posts to you....

I agree with you. I would feel that way as well, which is kind of what I posted.

I take what I mentioned back; don't want a Read counter.

Definitely a better History retriever. A lot of valuable information goes into the abyss quickly.

Oh I like Juellie's idea too! Maybe a little mark could show next to the post so that we'd know we posted to it. I'd like to be able to have email notification of posts we didn't start too.

There is an email notification option if you're the OP.

Trying to be positive in posting. Sometimes fingers work faster than brain. Trying to make posting shorter, but more to the point.

I've never found a forum with a format that I like better than this one. On this one when you post a reply, it brings the post back to the top......others I frequent don't do that. Plus the original posting AND all replies are on one page.......again others I go to can make you click on multiple places where each reply is on a separate page.

Seruiously you are right about the edit feature only being for the indivdual to use on their own post.

But just saying. ;-)

One thing I would like to see, is the answering posts, numbered. Like the OP is (example) do you like roses. Then the first response is #1, the second #2 ect. Sometimes I read the answers to some OP, then go back to see if there are any more, and I have to browse through to see where I had left off.

This one IS very user-friendly.
One that I lurk at is horrible. Everyone complains about it. It's easy to respond to the wrong post you have to reply directly under the member you are talking to, rather than a long thread like this one.

This one is very clean looking and easy.

I would like to be able to subscribe to a thread. I keep forgetting to check so this could be a reminder.

As jasdip said, this one is very easy to use an clean looking. It's my favorite anyway.

I'm pretty happy with it just like it is! I don't like change because change can and usually does mean problems!! lol

This is a great format and if careful you can edit your post before posting in the preview feature. The minute things start to "get bettr" something good gets lost IMHO.

I think more acceptance and open-mindedness to opinions that differ from the masses would make this forum better.

iVillage has a hard enough time trying to keep things going here. A drastic change would put them in a big dither I imagination.

All things being equal, this format seems to be the best IMO.

No change would change the divisiveness in replies. It is called conversation, not debates.

I'd love a Delete option. A writers' forum I frequent has this, and it enables members to post their writings for critique and then remove them after a period of time. For a forum like the KT, it would be useful for other reasons. I for one dislike the idea of everything I say here floating around in cyberspace (and on Google) forevermore.

I think the GardenWeb search engine is surprisingly poor. Often posts that I know are there somewhere fail to show up. We should be able to search on our screen name to find our posts, but that, too, is unreliable.

I like that responses to threads we start are emailed to us. Another forum I like will notify you of additions to any thread you post on. This feature is easily turned off (on a per-thread basis), so you don't get overwhelmed with emails.

We DO have an edit option; I always wonder why people go on about wanting an ability to edit. It's already there! It is the "preview" before you submit. That's where we're supposed to double-check what we wrote and decide if it's what we wanted to say. If not, edit it. THEN submit.

If people are looking for a way to edit AFTER you've submitted your post, then it's a second ability to edit that you're looking for. Why not use the edit option that's given, and negate the desire to edit after something's posted? What so many are asking for already exists.

As far as format of the KT and other forums on GW, I'm happy. The only thing I'd ask for is regarding the Search functionality. It stinks, IMO. There should be a way to sort, at the very least.
