Monthly luncheon, today, and 15 of us dined together.

Tried Dixie Fish, newly opened, couple months, and left much to be desired. Pricey for a lunch menu. Reviews have not been great since they opened, but obviously people keep going at they are always packed. Great atmosphere. Great service, but that's a one time visit for most of us.

I DID have awesome oysters on the half shell. Ordered six so I had a side of jambalaya. Much to be desired as well.

Have another potluck tomorrow, sure food will be much better.

Busy day...
I've got pretzel buns rising..waiting on their soda water bath..
They will be sliced and filled with grilled burgers..

I have browned butter snickerdoodle dough in the fridge..the oven has a banana roll sponge cake baking..going to be filled with a cream cheese filling.

Cleaned the gutters because a certain eldest son has been ignoring my requests..and it's a glorious warm Nov day...and then while I was out..I removed all the wilting dahlias.

Real crappy day today. Alternated between rain and snow. Good day to stay in.

I tried a new chicken recipe in my slow cooker. It was delicious!!!
Honey sesame chicken. Boneless chicken breasts in a soy sauce/honey mixture. Very much chinese-type sauce.

I'm making an apple crisp shortly.

My favorite - leftovers!! The cook did the work yesterday, the microwave does the work today. Cincinnati 5-way chili.

Eating on the chicken I baked yesterday. Chicken sandwiches for him, green salad with chicken/shredded cheese and balsamic vinaigrette for me.

I'm really trying to cut out all carbs still to keep my blood sugar levels down.

Let me tell you, it's not easy when you're a carb addict.

Seagrass: I love what you had to say about leftovers. I agree.

I too had leftovers.... rice and red beans. Made a side salad topped with canned tuna to go with it. Another big plus about leftovers is very few dishes to do.

Leftover gumbo from last night, just need to cook fresh rice for it.

Beautiful day today, it hit 60 but they say overnight we will get rain/snow. Very cold tomorrow with high winds, just hope we don't get more damage.

Dinner for hubby was chicken pot pie & I had a cube steak with mashed potato.

Glenda, pot lucks are better than just about anything, IMHO! I just love them. Sorry today's lunch wasn't better.

Oh Terri, I'd sure hate to be the girl one of your son's marries. You have really spoiled them with your wonderful homemade cooking. I've never made a sponge cake but I'm thinking of making one at T-giving. Guess I should practice first.

Aw Jasdip, that weather stinks! That chicken, however, sounds really good. Did you get the recipe from Pinterest? I'm pretty sure I c/p'd from their site. Love apple crisp. Used to have a recipe that called for peanut butter. It was really good. Stay warm!

Jean, it really is hard to cut out the carbs. When Harry went on the Atkins diet I craved a baked potato so bad I could taste it, but wouldn't eat one in front of him. He lost a lost of weight, I lost zip, nada, zero! Keep it up though and you will see results--hopefully with a better sugar level!

Shirley, you're right about fewer dishes. I like red beans and rice but I put meat in it--either hamburger or chicken. Do you?

Raven, again--the second day is better with gumbo, too. Wait--I'm thinking of jambalaya. I don't think I've ever had gumbo. That has okra in it, right?

Mary, hoping you don't get snow or high winds. Geez, you've had enough, already. Both your dinners sound delicious!

I've only started fixing red beans and rice since I read about people doing it here. So far I haven't added meat. Both hamburger and chicken sound like good additions.

We decided on the spur of the moment to make the 20 mile trip to Whole Foods to stock up on sausage. Love the many varieties of turkey and chicken sausage that is made there. Brought home 5 different kinds amounting to a total of about 6 pounds.

Then on the way home we browsed at Barnes and Noble, didn't buy a thing, then hit Smokey Bones for supper. I had a combo plate of shredded bbq pork and bbq beef brisket with a baked potato and fire grilled corn. Dh had a 1/2 slab of baby back ribs and spicy bbq smoked sausage with kettle fried potatoes and cole slaw. No room for dessert there, but there is two servings of a Cranberry/Apple crisp that I made on Saturday left in the fridge. We are going to try to save it for tomorrow.

I put andouille or polish sausage in my red beans and rice..I prefer polish over smoked sausage..but smoked works to..I like the tiny bit of heat in andouille.

Yeah spoiled Patti, I know.

So it's almost time to get those burgers on the grill..Kian will cook them for me.

The banana roll is all filled and resting in the fridge. Working on the cookies..but had to stop..to get the hair color rinsed out. ;)

Yep, that's multi tasking at work..scooping cookie dough while my color is working..lol..Kamren rolled them in cinnamon sugar. We did them all so that I can just do tray after tray.

The younger two also got the lawn mowed...hopefully this is it til Spring.

I think I've done enough today. :)

Gazania, I've never had the opportunity to shop at Whole Foods, but sure do hear good things about it. Sounds similar to Fresh Market where I used to shop occasionally. Too $$$ to do it often, but a lot of fun browsing. First time I ever saw a meyer (myer?) lemon was in Fresh Market. I sure wish we had a good BBQ place close by.

It was a bad day for me, so it was find whatever you can around here....I didn't have anything, DH & DD had frozen pizzas that I keep on hand for just such days.
