I buy them at Sam's. They're those little weiners wrapped in puff pastry. My grandson just loves them. I think they're called little smokies.

There are a couple of different versions. One is for breakfast with link sausage wrapped in pancakes. and the other cocktail-type appetizer is usually the little cocktail weenies like the little smokies wrapped in pastry dough.

I use maple leaf sausage meat and season it the way we like. I roll it like a giant sausage, coat it in flour then wrap it in puff pastry with an egg wash and cut to the size we like.
We love them here and only ever have them at Christmas :)

I used to cut the hot dog in half, split partly down the middle, add thin slices of cheese to the middle, then wrap with biscuit dough. crescent rolls work as well

I use the little smokies and I get the crescent roll whomp dough and split them up to wrap around each little smokie. Then follow directions on crescent pack for cooking

When I was a kid growing up they were made with canned vienna sausage.

I do the same as ravencajun. They are good.

I use a breakfast sausage-boil it off well first,then wrap in phyllo pastry and bake....a major hit here

Ravencajun, I have never heard the term crescent roll "whomp" dough before but I know exactly what you mean.

In my family, "pigs in a blanket" referred to halupki (aka Slovak stuffed cabbage).

Hot dogs wrapped in dough? wow,,when I saw "pigs in a blanket" I thought somebody had a photo of my ex on the beach.......
