I'm reading another book of Amy Bloom's short stories, Where the God of Love Hangs Out. Also still picking up Worth Dying For, by Lee Child, when I get the chance. And my bedtime reading is The Best of Sisters in Crime, a book of short mystery/suspense stories written by women.

In My Time, Dick Cheney.

I am trying to read my first John La Carre mystery, but his writing style in this book is just weird. I wonder if it is just this book or not. Maybe it is just me.

Sheilajoyce, I love and read many mysteries, but have never read John La Carre. Please post if it gets better. I have just started The Weight of Silence. Two little girls have gone missing, one of whom has not spoken in 3 years. The girls are friends and are probably together, the father of the nonspeaking girl is a drunk and may be responsible... too soon to tell.

The Sisterhood Series, am now into The Rules of the Game, by Fern Michaels. Very good easy reads.

Just finished Grange House by Sarah Blake and am headed into Hornet Flight by Ken Follett and Lionheart, Sharon Kay Penman's newest publication.

I elected to read all of Follett's books after I read the first of his new trilogy Fall of Giants but have reached the point where I need to intersperse his work with alternative authors. I'm on my 17th Follett novel with one to go. Lionheart will fill the bill nicely before I pick up his next to last book...World Without End

I loved Le Carre in the 1960s. I remember someone saying his plotting came together like a fine watch, and I agreed. Haven't read him since then, though. Does his writing seem dated somehow?

Try LeCarres' Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Right now I am reading everything I can get my hands
on concerning the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Steve in Baltimore County.

Have any of you Le Carre fans ever read any of Daniel Silva's books? I think you might be pleasantly surprised. His stuff is terrific if you're a spy novel lover like I am. His latest is Portrait of a Spy...and seeing as I've already "inhaled" it...I hope he's diligently working on his next one. ;-)

Robert Massie's Catherine the Great, a Portrait of a Woman, arrived yesterday just an hour or two after I finished Infidel. Picked up Catherine immediately, but only a hundred into it so far.

Still have a big pile on my bedside table, though.

Just started reading Lori Wick's book, "Where The Wild Rose Blooms" I really like it so far.

I just got done readin Janette Okes WHEN CALLS THE HEART. Now im reading June Masters Bachers LOVE'S SOFT WHISPER. I guess I like these books set in pioneer times and historical romances.

Jennifer Weiner's..Then Came You. I want to read the Stephen King book and Steve Jobs bio.

Currently reading "Bel-Air Dead" by Stuart Woods (a Stone Barrington novel). When I finish this one, it's back to the Lee Childs/Jack Reacher series (I've read the first three so far).

Just finished So Cold the River by Michael Koryta. Starting reading his books early fall and have now read all but one. This author is not even thirty years old. Thank for some other suggestions.

Steve Jobs biography - very interesting. I'm work in the technology field so probably more interesting to me than some other people. It's just fascinating how the guy behaved.

Nothing. I've been a binge reader all of my life but I haven't been on many binges the past few years. I picked up a bunch of books recently, even went to the library last week but I only read a few pages of a book and never got back to it.

This morning I finished Look Again by Lisa Scottline. I enjoyed it. It was the first of hers I have read and will be going to look for some more. Not sure what from my pile will be next

I've almost finished The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot. It's a true story, but I'd never heard of the lady. The book was my library's discussion choice for Nov. It's a fascinating and--IMHO--outrageous story; one which I probably would have never read, if not for the discussion group. More proof of "man's inhumanity to man", again, just my opinion..

I love Daniel Silva, too. Gabriel Allon is such an interesting character.

I just finished the most recent of two long-running series, City of Whispers by Marcia Muller and V is for Vengence by Sue Grafton.

Anything by Karen Kingsbury that I can find at my local library. Christian fiction. World War II stuff - reading what those people went through during the holocaust makes me grateful for what we have now. Maybe something recent by Joni Eareckson Tada - hasn't she written something since her experience with breast cancer?

I am recovering from a hernia repair (Friday) - a scope procedure, but I am still getting my energy back and so have extra time to read. I need to make a trip to the library tomorrow - hope I find an armload of fun reading (I'm not mentally into "deep" stuff right now).

I've decided to re-read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo triolgy again. I am listening to them on my iPod; I just finished Chapter 1.

I learned about Lee Child's "Reacher" series on one of these "What are you reading?" posts. I've been devouring them.

Same same for Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch and Mickey Haller series.

These wonderful suggestions are taking up all my time...Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

Don't forget, the new Janet Evanovich/Stephanie Plum book, Explosive 18, will be released on the Nov. 22, and her movie, One for the Money will be out Jan. 21!

Marilyn_Sue, I love Lori Wick's books! Have you tried any by Gilbert Morris or Lynn Austin?

Lindie Mi, I don't know if I have read any of the books by Morris or Austin or not. I have such a large amount of books that I may have them and not read them yet. I like so many authors, but have a hard time finding time to read. I buy all of my books at garage sales and most of the time get some really good buys so when I find books I think I will enjoy I will buy all of them that I can find and put them back for later. I will have to check my stash! :)

I just finished The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. It's classified as "young adult" but it kept me riveted from beginning to end. I'm going to read the other two books in the trilogy next.

Connolly's books never disappoint. We finally got to watch "The Lincoln Lawyer" on DVD. Strange to have 'real people' instead of the characters you imagine as you read!

I've like Silva until recently. Sometimes a character just gets 'old' -- even Allon.

We've read all the 'Rebus' books.

I have two books waiting here: S. J. Rozan's "Ghost Hero" and "The Descendants" by Kaui Hemmings. I want to read the latter before I see Clooney in the film. (The Tribune's movie critic awarded a rare four stars to this movie, set in Hawaii, filmed on Kauai and Oahu, with all-Hawaiian music.)

I hope David Benioff will come out with another book as riviting as "The City of Thieves".

currently reading Plea of Insanity by Jilliane Hoffman and it has me in it's grip! I will be reading more from this author!

I am also very excited and waiting for the new Evanovich book, so surprised when I got the letter from Janet saying the next book would be out in November! Can not wait for the movie.
