My purse is small, so I set it on top of the toilet paper holder.

I sometimes do hang my purse on the little door lock fastener, when I am carrying my purse with narrow handles. But one of my purses, the one I like best, has wider handles and won't stay on there. I agree it's frustrating, especially the bathrooms that don't provide anything at all to hang your purse on. And I refuse to put it on the floor ...ewww.

Year ago in Florida there was a rash of purse snatching from those hooks in rest stops along the interstate and they had to remeove themI think. Can't remember exactly it was so long ago but women were told not to use them

Years ago, I worked at an airport where there was a rash of these purse snatching like Joann & Minnie describe. I got in to the habit of either forming a loop with the handles before hanging the purse from the hook. I also will sometimes just hang the purse, and then twist it a couple of times so the purse can't be lifted.

The ones I've been in lately have the hooks placed down about the middle where it can't be reached from the outside.

I hate that they do not put hooks up it is an outrage~~~some places put them on the sides so you can get into your bag if needed I like that alot. I have and do not LOL hung my purse around my neck because there is no place to put it ;)

If you have a purse hanger that will hang your purse from the side of a table, you can hang your purse on it with the hook over the hinge of the door. My biggest peeve is the K Mart handicap restrooms with the purse hook, if it even exists, so far out of reach it isn't funny, but worse yet, the same store has the TP almost as far out of reach! You need a second person just to get you TP! And there just isn't any room in the "regular" stalls anymore, even for people that barely weigh a 100#.

This time of year, I don't even carry a purse. My wallet is in a zipped pocket, my keys, inhaler, ect is in another pocket. I won't be carrying a purse until the end of Jan, at least.

More and more stalls have had the hangers removed.

Dumb me thought it was to keep users from bumping their heads when getting up, or more seriously to prevent anyone from hanging themself.

Never thought about someone reaching in and taking my purse .

I spend more time searching for a place to park my purse than actually tending to business.

There's a "next generation" of those hooks -- they have a metal flap that comes down from the top to make it either more difficult or impossible for some hand coming over the top to get the strap out of it. I think I've seen them in Ikea.

The problem is, I guess, men dominate these construction jobs and don't think about the needs of women (and the places women need to put a thing or two while they're in the restroom).

I've even held my purse strap with my teeth. Those hooks are usually too high for me to reach.

This thread was a good reminder that people snatch purses off hooks IN a stall. I'd completely forgotton....duh! I just don't think like a criminal or protect myself enough...

I never use those high-up-on-the-door hooks.
Either I balance my purse on the toilet paper holder
or in my lap...floor is germy too...
