eat sushi - I don't like fish

go into deep water - I can't swim

drink alcohol/drugs - never started the habits

be overweight - I was overweight for a couple of years - I was miserable!

It is physically painful for me to watch dh try to paint. I can't bear to even think about it. Imagine a man who has good bearing and sense (I said he has them, not that he always uses them) suddenly going slack-jawed, slumped, one hand in a pocket (it drives me crazy to see someone with hand/s in a pocket) and smearing a paint brush over, and over, and over, the same area until it's a sticky, lumpy mess. He makes a simple task so much work. I love to paint. I spend hours on prep; removing everything (nails, electrical plates, lighting fixtures). I clean, and Swiffer, and tape. I put down plastic sheets and tape them to the floor. I set up my paint station with everything I could possible need laid out on the stand like surgical instruments. Then the next day I begin the painting. I use primer; I cut in, and do the "W" with the roller, apply thin coats, and am through in no time at all. I'll brag; I'm a damn fine painter. It's just that I go slowly and spend far more time with prep and staging than I do in the actual applying of the paint. He wants to grab a can of paint and start smearing. I am the painter in the house. He will, after I've done all the prep, sometimes help with the roller parts, but I have to keep reminding him to not go over the area that already has paint. He can't "see" how it pulls up. So, I do the painting or hire a helper. The one lady that does the best work, even better than mine, is 72. Watching her paint is like seeing poetry. I love her to death. I do the fetch and carry for her, clean her brushes, fix her lunch, and learn at the feet of the master! So, never, ever try to paint with a husband. God made Man; then he made Woman. He made them attractive to one another. Then he sat back and had a good, long chuckle.

PK, I pulled it up as soon as I saw the first leaves emerge. When I pull up an invasive, I don't merely tug and yank, I get my hand weeder (or shovel) and go down deep to get the roots. Merely pulling the plant up usually leaves too much root behind. Even in places where I could not get rid of every bit of root, I just made sure that I cut off every leaf that sprouted, which insured the death of the plant trying to emerge. Diligently removing emerging foliage on pesky invasives (such as alstromeria) worked well for me because the little brittle roots were impossible to dig up. Molly

I wouldn't want to be without my OXO hair trap! This thing really does trap stray hairs and keep them from going down the drain, where they just accumulate and form a disgusting giant rat over time. I also like my car's backup camera, although I refuse to rely on it solely and still physically turn to look in all directions before backing out. Recently I rode in the car with someone who put her car in reverse, checked her backup camera, and then just roared out of the parking space. Her confidence in that thing kinda freaked me out! Also love having Bluetooth/hands-free phone ability in the car. It looks funny to me now to see someone driving and holding a phone to their ear, and no longer looks odd to see someone driving alone and carrying on an animated conversation. ;-)

Re Phlox paniculata : have never had the species (wild type) in my gardens and have always removed the few seedlings which came from the 30 or so cultivars I've planted and maintained over numbers of years. Garden phlox cultivars require some amount of maintenance, including regular division, at least in my experience. There are several reason to deadhead them, but an obvious one is to prevent any seeding. Any offspring, I've seen in other gardens, had the flower-colour of the species, typically a washed-out magenta. In my experience, maintaining healthy garden phlox is part of avoiding powdery mildew here.

This is hard because I'm a "never say never" person. I've seen too many people say they would never divorce or never cheat only to do just that...somehow it's always OK when THEY do it...

But I can think of a couple things that I know for sure:
1) Sky dive unless it's to save my life
2) get a tattoo
3) dye my hair purple or any other unnatural color
4) go to the moon :)

3. Wade out and submerse most of my body in ice cold water (no polar bear club for me. A shock like that can stop your heart, besides I know from childhood experience that it hurts if you have to stay in contact with ice cold water for more than a minute. One time when comming home from school, the river flooded and my sister and I took off our shoes to wade a flooded road between us and home. It was 1/8 of a mile in 6 inches of water. Ice was forming on it. That pushed us to tears.)

4. Jump a motorcycle over a car.

I already listed four ,but here are four more.

1 never get a tattoo
2 never ever be without at least one dog and one cat.( 4 and 2 now)
3 sky dive or do any dangerous sports
4 eat meat

Well never is a long time.
1.) I can't see myself ever having a dog or cat again. It could happen but I don't see it. I'm too busy for it. I like pets but I believe you need to spend time with them.
2.) Love ice fishing like my DH does and all his friends and their wives. Every weekend they ice fish. I agree to go out once or twice to make them all happy but I just don't like it.
3.) Be a vegatarian - not in a million years.
4.) Have another baby.

2. Have kids. Too old anyway, but I don't have a maternal bone in my body. Took the permanent decision not to have kids, when I was 22, best thing I ever did.

3. Be without a cat if I can help it.

4. Partake in the dangerous sports mentioned; sky-dive, bungee jump etc.

5. Take any kind of illegal drug. I can't see the thrill of not being in control of your body or mind.

I know I will never smoke any tobacco products willingly or have a baby but I cannot state I will NEVER do something.
Too many uncertainties in this life.

Hmmmm...I'm with the 'never say never ' gang. But I know that I will never :

1. Have children (same reason as jasdip)

2. Cheat, lie, or steal

3. Mistreat an animal

4. Turn down an opportunity to learn, push my boundaries, overcome a fear.

I'm also a member of the never say never group... But, after careful thought and consideration, I'll throw this list out there....

I will never enjoy family squabbles of any kind. Have been involved in a couple (none current thank heaven) and observed a few more and things like that upset me and make my stomach hurt.

I will never enjoy hurting anyone in any way.

I will never enjoy house cleaning. I know some people do and that's ok. I wish I was one of them. But, unfortunately, I clean only because cleaning needs to be done. I don't enjoy the process.

At nearly 59 years of age, I will never give birth again.

I think I can pretty safely say, at this point, that I will never bungi jump, or ski jump, or go deep sea diving. But, who knows?

I have said I would never do things before but you know what? You can change your mind. These are things I can say with honesty.

I will never become a man.
I will never be younger than I am right now (think about that one!).
I will never use a rotary dial telephone.
I will never go through life without a positive attitude.
