I have got to clean this mess up...

I have soooo many pots and pans and plastic storage containers that I don't have room for, and don't use, but won't get rid of because I know as soon as I do, I'll *need* something I've given away.

I need to de-clutter the kitchen cabinets. *sigh*

Well, I don't want to sound like I'm bragging [but I am!].. I went through my closet and weeded out all that stuff that I've not worn for over a year. Lots of it was older than that - but it's hard to give up quality clothing... until you realize that it's been years since I've needed 'good suits for work' and a minor fact that they're a size toooo small now!! teehee...
Anyway I hauled it all down to the store that supports needy women looking for work and needing something appropriate to wear for interviews & jobs.

Cleaning my closet.......but I did start by separating the clothes I no longer wear. Maybe tomorrow I can actually get them ready to donate to our local thrift store.

No, you were right first time on the Mariposa with 66". We were talking about changing the walls by flipping the relevant studs so give a little more room, or moving the whole wall out a couple of inches which we could do.... for a price. I think the problem is we are doing too much at once - kitchen, bathroom, a ton of painting and stuff in other rooms, painting the whole outside of the house, about to have a baby, deal with a pool for the first time and just moved in. I am probably not on top of the details in the way I should be. There are just 10 million decisions that have to be made all at once. Really struggling with tile decisions too. I am trying to stay as on top of it as I can but it's hard to catch all these details. Do you have any comments on the size of the vanity? We need to decide between a 60" or 72" vanity. For reference this is a big house - the master bath is surprisingly small for the sie of the home. The other two bathrooms both have double sinks.... and both will be bigger than the master bath sinks, no matter what we do. The guest bathroom has a 92" vanity (which is a bit big TBH, we need 2 of everything we share because we can't reach the other side), and the small bathroom has a 77" vanity. I wish I'd known about the Billy Goat. In 2007 we had a hurricane force storm here and it blew a wall of windows out of my semi enclosed front porch, across a side yard and some of it close to my neighbors front door, but reasonably large pieces. I picked up glass for days (wearing just surgical type latex gloves), and was finding bits here and there working in the flower bed under that window wall (which then became a solid sheet of safety glass just faux framed to look like individual panes) still 5 years later when we moved. DH was confident he'd gotten most smaller bits with our strongest bagging mower, and no accidents happened, not with us or the neighbors pets. But I really sympathize with you, this sounds like smaller shards and I had no children playing there. Even though it was Dec, we had no snow to complicate things either. I wish you luck, let us know what you can arrange.

I used to get "glue ear" when I was little. I had tubes put in five times. And now that I have used peroxide as well as an alcohol/vinegar mixture in my ears as an adult, I REALLY wonder if over half of my problems as a child could have been avoided if the d@mn doctor (ENT) had just told my mom to put alcohol in my ears every time I got water in them. I seriously think a lot of it was swimmer's ear. That said, do have a doctor check out her ears so you know whether or not the eardrum has been perforated. Even if it has, it was NOT necessarily the peroxide that did it. The fluid buildup could have done it. Both of my eardrums still have perforations. I have used peroxide during a bad earache, and even with the perforation, it can hurt really bad from the fizzing. When that happens, I just dump it out immediately. That immediate release of the fizzing liquid can also cause what feels like a "pop." Earaches can hurt really really bad, yet not cause the perforation. It's just such a delicate system, and pain is the body's way of telling you there's a problem. When you do go to the doctor, ask about using the alcohol and vinegar, as well as the peroxide. That way you have the doc's input as to whether one or the other is better in her situation. And don't let them put you off and say it's a waste of time. I've cleared up an outer ear infection with the alcohol and vinegar as well as gotten a great deal of improvement on an inner ear infection. It CAN work. I hope she feels better soon! A combo sinus/ear infection is the PITS! You might also try getting her to take some Airborne to boost her immune system.

It's very frustrating Jen. I'm old enough and was brought up in an era where more folks cared about their work. They did it to the best of their abilities whether it was "their job" or not. I remember being called into the managers office once. Many of my coworkers asked me what I did wrong or laughed saying something like "you're in trouble now". I had no fear because I knew I did my job and then some. When I got there, he asked me to sit down and proceeded to tell me he noticed how when walking through other's departments, if I saw something out of place, I stopped long enough to fix it. That impressed him and he wanted to be sure to thank me. His taking the time to tell me really impressed me too. Sadly you don't often hear of that in retail anymore. Or many other service jobs for that matter.

Getting back on track painting this house. I started again today by clearing out more stuff from a room I started in the spring. Got 3 loads of laundry out of it...bedding, not sure if clean or dirty stuff (when in doubt it gets washed). Next I have to take more stuff down off the walls and fill the holes in (not going back up).

Angela, I did that not long ago, then a few weeks ago I made some soup. When I make soup I have a special muffin tin I bake corn bread in to go with it. It makes really thin little corn muffins that are good with soup. Somehow my little muffin pan was decluttered along with other pots and pans. Thank goodness I put it with the pans I stored on a shelf in the attic. I didn't find it for the soup, but I found it when I was getting Halloween decorations out. I brought it back downstairs where it belongs. What was I thinking??
