There are several of us. Carol and Wildchild both in CA are the ones that come to mind. I belong to two Red Hat groups.

I'm a Lily of the Valley. Made up of a majority of retired school teachers, and teachers aides. I'm not one of those though. The others are school girlfriends from Valley. I'm a sister of one of those girlfriends.

Thanks; I actually saw that 'plasticulture' referenced in a link that Dave had provided in another thread on this subject, and agreed that the 'results' were minimal at best...one person having cited that a 20 count det tomato yield would increase only 10%...2 fruits. Doesn't seem worth the cost of the red plastic to me, either. Additionally, from the above-referenced link: Tomato - this crop appears to respond more to red mulch compared to black with an average 12% increase in marketable fruit yield over a 3 year period. There appears to be a reduction in the incidence of early blight in plants grown on red mulch compared to plants grown on black mulch. When environmental conditions for plant growth are ideal, tomato response to red mulch is minimal. 12% over THREE years? That's even worse than the 10% number previously cited. I guess I'll stick to my plain old set of tools: 1 grade stake 1 tomato plant some survey tape to tie with maybe some Miracle Grow for Toms. Thanks for the information, everyone!

I just Wanted to clarify a little more. I know your nutrient solution probably contains the mineral element that the plant needs to produce the color, but needs more to get the rich coloring your looking for. It could also be reducing the the amount of some mineral element/s in the nutrient solution that aid in the production of chlorophyll in the plants leaves will do the same thing. Whichever it is I don't really want to guess. As I mentioned, I would contact many nutrient manufactures. Your bound to reach someone familiar with growing red leaf lettuce, or at least know someone who does like a commercial grower they sell products to.

BlueStar? They offer 190 colors -- quite a few are some species of red. The RAL numbers are available on the web site, along with samples (subject to the limitations of looking at color samples via the internet). I think that you can obtain a sample panel from a dealer if you want. The oven door, lower, and sides are the color you choose, and the range top itself is stainless. There's no up-charge if you choose one of the standard 190 colors.

It's here! It's here! It's here! I know Beth is probably just about as excited as I am. It's a stress when you wonder what happened to a package you sent. First pictures: And the whole package: Thanks so much, Beth. The light isn't that great in my kitchen so the photos don't do this justice. The teacup charm is adorable - Bird in a nest, another tiny bird, charms and flowers dangling on the ribbons, and the green and yellow are the perfect look for Spring. In my swap I had gummy worms, a note card and another card, cosmos cupcake seeds, paper napkins with a great party look, and my teas are Sweet & Spicy and Earl Grey. Well worth the wait! (By the way, Beth, that hummus container that you packed the charm in did the trick. It got here in perfect condition even after all that traveling.) Jeanne

I used to belong to two groups. The Scarlett O'Hatters and The Vuvatous Vermillions. Then we moved to this area 4 yrs ago. There are several groups but they have waiting lists for membership. Alas. I don't have the energy to start a new chapter. Dottie

Yep. I belong to 3 chapters in California. One huge (100+ members),one medium (12-16) and one start-up. All are different. Closest friendships are in the medium group. Fun outings in the start-up. The huge one is more about net-working amongst several smaller chapters.

Our Red Hat group The Royal Crown Jewels of Nipomo had been inactive for about a year and a half.

I was a Southern Belle but the group sorta fizzed out due to poor leadership. I've been too busy to find another group but will someday. I really enjoyed it and miss it.

I am a memeber of a Red Hat Group out of Tomball, Texas (NW of Houston). But since I am not yet 50, I am a pink hat and so is our Queen & founder. The rest of our group is over 50 - we do LOTS of stuff and have a blast together - beach trips, shopping in Canton, Tx. - bed & breakfast weekends and lunches every month. They are truly the sisters I never had growing up! Our group is called the "Rock'n Red Hat Rowdies" - we even have a website - google us! Rowdies means: Remarkable Women Doing Incrediby Exciting Stuff! If you are in my area please come have lunch with us sometime.
