Any experience with Red Osier (cornus sericea aka Red Twig Dogwoo

Hi!

I am planning to install an intimate room in my woodland garden (in mid-sun/mid shade) that I would want circled with a shrub screen. Just beside that spot, I found a few young Red Osier that popped out just this year (in spite of the fact that we had quite a dry summer this year). I got plenty of space around and the room's rocky floor will be well protected against shrub invasion.

So: Is indigenous Red Osier a good candidate for this purpose? The litterature says that its natural height ranges between 4 to 10 feet (1,2 to 3 meters). Under what conditions would it reach at least 6 feet (1,8 meter)?
