Why, hello there!

Thanks to all of the people asking about me. I only get to peek in now and again and I seem to miss those messages. If I would have seen them, I would have answered for sure LOL!

It seems if I do get a moment to "check in" here, it is from work and I can't post from there. Once I get home, well, I'm lucky if I have time to go to the bathroom, let alone spend more than a minute or two on the computer.

I have GOT to get my priorities straight, eh? KT first, bodily functions second ROFL!

Good to see a post from you. It sounds like you have been very busy. I'm sorry you feel so bad today but at least you can check in here at the KT and even post a few. Grab a cup of tea and keep your feet up. Feel better.

Ahem... OJ, my friend, your hypocrisy is showing! ;) As I understand it, you're a "bottle babe" too, right? But you're a closet bottle babe. You drink bottled water as I recall. In fact you drink nothing but if memory serves correctly. And you're a water bottler too so all these companies and people you go at about bottling water is done by that guy in the mirror? Or have things changed? :D I make no apology that I drink spring water. Can you carry 20-30 cups of tap water in your vehicle so you have it with you and available when needed and wanted? I think not. The cost? 7¢ to 9¢ a bottle is what I pay. Certainly not going to break me. And I'm not driving back and forth every day or two to get this water, burning gas, oil, tires and wear on the vehicle. :D (OK, end of the jabs!). Now to the "clubs". :D I know it's become fashionable to vilify water. Complain about "all those bottles in the landfills!!!!" LOL People who do this, I have to wonder what's in your water? Interesting how pop, tea, juice, milk and other containers can go in the same landfills and no problem with that right? How about all those foam coffee cups and plastic dome lids on the coffee cups that people insist on buying at Starbucks, Tim Horton's, Caribou and the like? Where's the screaming about that? Dead silence. Perhaps that foam and plastic doesn't use petroleum products? Or maybe they're 100% recycled? Or is there another reason? What about the pod coffee drinkers? Nobody's bothered by that plastic going into the landfills. Those little plastic cups going into the garbage don't seem to offend people? Why? OH, it's not water! I forgot that water is the target. I also have to ask, where's the same (manufactured) outrage over all the diapers that go into those landfills some are so concerned about? When's the last time anyone has recycled a diaper? 'Splain that one to me Lucy! Shall we talk about all the other stuff that goes in those beloved landfills? (Today they're "landfills". I remember when they were called "dumps"!) Light bulbs, batteries, packaging, greeting cards, expired gift cards, rotisserie chicken containers, fem hygiene products, toilet paper and paper towel rolls and wrappers, and so on and so on and so on. I realize that water has become a fashionable villain these days. Must be people having stock in Coke, Pepsi, Huggies and Starbucks. I used to have great water here. I don't anymore. And I am not going to have a cow over spending a few dollars a month to buy spring water, have it handy and not buy soft drinks, coffee and the like while out and about. So go ahead and yell and scream about people like me who drink water rather than sugar-laden or aspartame-filled drinks. I recycle my bottles. Coffee drinkers don't recycle many of their cups, lids, stir sticks, creamer/sugar containers, lids, etc, I'm sure. Every time there's a national disaster what's the first thing they ask for? Coffee pods? Diapers? Soft drinks? Nope. WATER! Perhaps we should never again send water to these people. Or the places with contaminated wells. They shouldn't drink bottled water. If tap water isn't good enough for you then you should go without? Hey, now THERE'S a possibility. I'm going to go have a bottle of water right now. Might have a bottle of juice to go with it. At least juice doesn't seem to be a villain like poor innocent water is! Proud to be a water drinker. Just noticed how old this thread is, but it was a good response that didn't deserve to be deleted. And after thinking about it, compared to many of the "current topics" being posted, it's more interesting, more thought provoking and far better than many of those topics. Moving on! :)

Thank you for comiserating (I think that is the word LOL) with me. I feel better, at least my head isn't pounding anymore nor is the guy across the street. I don't know why this noise got to me but it did. I think it was his rythm of taps. Roof went up across the street at another neighbour's the other day and that didn't bother me at all. I found the headphones in a hat box but no batteries for my old Walkman. I had 1 aspirin left which I took then I went to bed, pulled up the covers and put a pillow over my head and woke up just now because someone was knocking at my front door and Loki barked. I guess little Lucy was sleeping on the pillow on my head and when I jumped up startled she flew off. LOL Poor kitty! I also guess I shouldn't have said I have a toothache. I have a mouthache under a tooth LOL. My gum was sliced just under a tooth from a chicken bone and the glands under my tongue swelled and my bridge has been pressing on both and irritating it. The pain feels like a toothache though. I never thought of using ice on it. I can't believe I slept as long as I did and I didn't move once I got into bed. Thanks for your concern and the tips if I ever have another headache which I hope is none to soon. Thank you Mommy's. Anne

Nkkp and LascaTX, Thanks for your reply. I've purchased a lot of things over the internet but none of them weighed over 10 lbs. So to say that I'm hesitant to order something that is shipped on a pallet and has a chance of breakage even though the box might not reflect it, scares me to death. So because of my very narrow-minded, unreasonable fear, I went ahead and purchased an E-Lux venthood from Sears. *don't roll your eyes at me* LOL The sones level is twice that of the Imperial at high speed but I figure this speed won't be used ALL the time. To further assuage my paranoia of electronics breaking (in massive, not-easy-to-box-up-to-return items such as a built-in appliances), Big Box afforded me the opportunity to add to their bottom line purchase an extended warranty of five years in duration. Because we all know that these things like to breakdown on day 357. Plus they do price matching and actually did one on-the-spot when they were proving to me that they shop the competition. So, unless I change my mind and cancel with Sears (which they have a most generous cancellation policy), I will not be able to add to the knowledge pool on Imperial or Kobe brand venthoods. : / But I will be able to on the following: GE Profile Induction cooktop 36", PHP960 Bosch dishwasher SHX4AP0 E-lux 36" venthood RH36WC60G Oven - yet to be determined ....at some nebulous time in the future as I've yet to sign with a GC. Is Your Tap Water Safe To Drink Or Use In The Garden?

I don't think so. Even if all is well at The Treatment Plant, there is so much that water can be exposed to between there and your kitchen sink. Especially if your home, or the water lines that deliver the water TO your home, are older than just a few years. We cannot afford to depend upon the EPA to protect us from water contamination, or anything else for that matter. There are so many contaminants in our water that they don't consider to be unsafe. But, here in America, Land of the Free and Home of the Brave, shouldn't we have the right to choose? If you do much reading about things that are done "for the public good", you will soon run into many who consider the addition of fluoride into our water supply as a bad thing. Here is a link to some interesting information about that, presented at Dallas City Hall by Dr. Paul Connett in 2014: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xguPD85-BH4 Not to mention how difficult it is to find toothpaste or mouthwash that doesn't contain fluoride. Not to mention that fluoride is not the only intentional contaminant in our tap water. There's chlorine added to kill bacteria. When we water our garden from our home's water hydrant, we are contaminating our soil and therefore our plants, with whatever's in that water. We are also discouraged from disposing of any of our pharmaceuticals by flushing them because it has been found that some of these drugs do not process out. It is folly to trust that NOBODY is flushing drugs. Seriously, there is a large population in America that either doesn't know, doesn't believe, or doesn't care. Even if you have a septic tank, where do you think the septic tank truck goes when it's full? For a long time, we felt safe drinking water that was filtered. And then, we found out that there are not many filters that can remove anything beyond particulates. So many of us started buying bottled water. Now, we are hearing that certain elements of the plastic that the bottles are made of are getting into the water that's in the bottle. Not to mention that our landfills are now littered with them. Also, not to mention, that what's shown on the bottle label as "spring water" is now said to actually just be tap water from some other place, we know not where. When we lived in town, I bought a water distiller. This was because the small town in which we lived was in the habit of flushing the lines every now and then. We'd do a load of wash and find our white clothing washing in rusty-looking water. We'd fill a glass with water at the tap and it would be brown, sometimes with stuff in it that would settle to the bottom of the glass. And I still use the distiller, now that we live in the country. When the distiller is finished, I find about a tablespoon of dark brown liquid in the bottom, and it stinks. And there's a coating of lime on the whole inside, where the water boiled as the steam fed into the evaporator coils. I've read that the only way contaminants can be dependably removed from water is via steam evaporation or by reverse osmosis. Even this is not a perfect situation. It takes time to do. But at least I'm not lugging home case after case of bottled water. There's the cost of the distiller, but it pays for itself eventually if it replaces bottled water. There are some who say that, once it's distilled or "osmosed", the water is "dead": devoid of any of the trace minerals that we need to have in our water. So what are we to do? Why, we buy Trace Minerals, and we put 20 bitty drops of it in each gallon. Can we trust the efficacy of these Trace Minerals? I don't know. It seems like everybody lies to us now. And it is sold to us in a plastic bottle. *Sigh*.

I'm glad you popped in to say 'Hi' Dances. I read your blog today too. Did Dr. do an ex-ray for pneumonia? Sounds like what I had last year. I'd cough so hard, I'd pee my pants. (TMI? oh well).
I'm off to the Dr. myself today. Just a work up to get my Rx's renewed for another 6 months. I'll also get my 1st pneumonia shot ever. I don't want that again.

I was getting worried about you. I'm glad you are here if only for a short spell. I hope you feel better soon. I had that a few weeks ago and was coughing up blood. It hurt sooo bad.

Lori - you make it sound so bad ROFLMAO!

I just have a bad cough that started as a tickle (I was told it was dripping from my sinuses irritating my throat at the time) but has now settled into my chest.

So I went from a hacking, choking unproductive cough to a hacking, choking, wheezing, spasmatic, productive one. My upper body is so sore from coughing that it hurts to the touch! This is day 2 of rest, and tomorrow supposedly I turn back into a pumpkin again ;). I am hoping it is a pumpkin that does not cough, however.

No x-rays. No chest listening or thumping (remember when they used to do that? Listen and thump? Why don't they do that anymore?). Just 'you will be fine now go cough somewhere else'.

This afternoon I took a nap next to a mister (humidifier thingy?) with a pug on my head. Ah yes, the smell of frito feet in the afternoon. I've missed that. Tee hee!

Hey girl, glad to "see" you. I don't get to come here very often either lately. I check your blog for updates often, and have enjoyed it. I thought of you yesterday when I was in Hobby Lobby. I was walking thru the yarn dept. You just popped into my head. I wonder why? LOL! So sorry you are under the weather. Hope you get better soon!
