Jasdip is coming to visit me! YAY!

We've been talking about seeing each other for months. We're only about 30-45 minutes away from each other. So now it's finally gonna happen.

We've been flipping back and forth about where we want to eat, but I think I've finally decided to make a nice lunch. So I need ideas, Ladies, so I can impress her with my cooking prowess! LOL! Ideas, IDeas, IDEAS! I need ideas!

jasdip - Very sorry that your brother is still in pain. But, no doubt that the pain of being downsized is even worse. At a certain age it makes things very difficult. I hope he is able to find a new job soon. jannie - sometimes wait times all depend on where you live and what you are going to have done. But they can be very lengthy in Ontario - Toronto is not good. old joyful - my husband turned 65 in Dec. but will continue to work until age 67. He has 2 eye drop prescriptions - that is it. He will have to pay the $100 deductible to the ODB this month and first go through it for reimbursement of his eye drops - but there is at least a $25.00 differential between what the ODB will pay and the cost of each of the eye drops. He then is to submit the excess cost to his office plan insurer (they pay up to 90% of generic drugs) - BUT he can't claim the $100 deductible. He does have to pay a considerable amount for his office family plan and I am 2 years younger than he is. My B-I-L worked for the government - he can claim the ODB $100 against his government continued benefits. My husband works for a private company. I currently have 2 prescriptions and am being weaned off of them. The ODB would not cover them anyway - and except for the odd sinus meds that is it for me. But at 65 I will still have the deductible (and my birthday is in Aug. - how convenient!). I know for a fact that the ODB is going to stop covering some drugs that many seniors take. In the hospital, yes drugs are covered, and you were VERY lucky to have had an MRI so quickly. I know I would be waiting a long time. Re the ODB I actually called them up to ask if they seriously expected people still working to go through them first. Obviously I do not want to find myself having to take multiple drugs or having procedures at age 65 - especially since I am allergic to so many things. But it does get frustrating. I have a terrible cold - and of course am allergic to antihistamine and decongestant!

Thank you so much for all of the wonderful birthday wishes!!! Eccentric, I've been wondering where you've been! I was going to post a Where is eccentric post. Today was a GREAT day. I got some awesome presents from hubby. Some were kitchen-related (naturally!) and also a beautiful multi-chained necklace. And some money which we'll use to get me some jeans and pants. God I hate clothes shopping but it's time to do it. We spent the day in the town where Luckygardnr lives. It's an arty-fartsy tourist town, and we had a great time. Had beef-barley soup and fish and chips for lunch and we're still full. Gave Lucky a call and she and her DH were home so we went around for a nice visit. All in all a fantastic day. Hey Ellie! You and Mimi were going off the wall yesterday! LOL I was going into withdrawal when I couldn't post. Grrrrr I hate when I can't come here and visit. A local radio station has a daily trivia quiz. They are posted on their website, which is where I get my questions. I'm picking and choosing the questions, but I'm getting close to the end of the list. Some questions are repeated and some I just don't like. But I just might go ahead and post every question, to make sure I have enough to keep it going. Glad you guys like it. I hope the participators don't google the question ahead of time....kind of takes the fun out of it, I think. I like seeing all your great answers and you guys do have great ones!

Please help me finally decide yay or nay regarding wood flooring

The whole home dehumidifier (attached to your HVAC system) will do the trick. Installing the wood flooring in the spring or the fall (the shoulder seasons) will certainly help. New windows that block a tremendous amount of UV (75% block is probably where you want to be in CA). As for yellowing, stay away from maple...it turns yellow just by turning on an overhead light. And yes it is normally the finish that yellows and not the wood species (maple and cherry being the two notable exceptions for local species that are photo sensitive). And if you want to stay away from yellowing (we are assuming you want a factory finish) then new windows would be an excellent place to start (75% UV block will pretty much do the trick). And for LVP...it doesn't like heat. In fact it does some REALLY strange things when direct sunlight hits the floor. The ROOM temperature might be 85 F (which is too high for LVP) but the sunlight on the FLOOR can be 115 F or higher. LVP is vinyl. Vinyl melts when it gets to hot. As it heats up and then cools down (day time high to night time low), it warps and discolours. Some vinyl products turned purplish-black when exposed to too much heat (anything over 85 F is excessive for indoor furnishings). To stop the EXCESSIVE heat, you will want new windows. The 75% UV block would be the lowest you would go (which is a mid-range product...not super cheap but not super expensive either). You could look at the best of the best = 95% UV block (indoor plants die at this level of UV block) if you are really interested in LVP and keeping the home cool. Laminate has few issues with direct heat...but even laminate has limits. Some will fade in direct sunlight that is SUPER hot. You will void the warranty on the laminate once the home temps reach higher than 85 F. And again the humidity needs to be between 40% - 60% for laminate. To block some of that heat (you guessed it), you will want to look at new windows. For laminate, the entry level UV block of 45% - 50% is going to be "good enough".

She's having a mini-meltdown I think, and I'd be feeling the same way if the shoe were on the other foot. LOL

It might BE PBJ as Kat said! I'm easy! Just don't put cilantro on it. Don't like that stuff. hahahhaa

We're getting together TOMORROW, Friday, the end of the week! HAHAHAHA.

I'm sure we'll never hear the end if we didn't get pics.
Who can we get to take them for us? We'll just wander around downtown and ask a kind stranger to do it. Heehee

All bundled up in a coat, mitts, put our hood up. It IS Canada, after all! HAHAHAHAHAHAAA
