Ok, Jasdip, time for an update!

We sure don't forget about your dear Mom. Any progress? Is she comfortable? And how are YOU doing?

I just got home 1/2 hour ago from seeing Mom.

The last time I wrote, she had recovered from being in CCT, and in very critical shape, on life support.

She's been back on the surgical floor, and is on a regular diet of food. She hasn't eaten for so long, her stomach is probably the size of a walnut, a few mouthfuls and she's full.

I took her in a Smoothie last Sunday and she loved it! She's also had watermelon and cantaloupe and loves that as well.

Once again, they figure she's in good enough shape that they want her to come to our local hospital. They frankly need the beds, and unless she's having surgery, there isn't much more they can do for her there.

In one sense they're right, for sure, but the care she is getting is beyond wonderful. Remember the little fellow who pushed her bed to the window to watch the sunset? Well he's popping in all the time to see how she is, and just to talk to her. She's been there so long, they just pop in to visit. We laughed......one girl went in and said she would "ask the book of knowledge; she would know." So she asked mom if "Don" was working today. Mom said, Yes, he was off yesterday, so he'll be in today. Sure enough, when the shift started, there was "Don". The girl who asked, said that she Knew Mom would know. LOL

Anyway, she's improving (except today was a bad day). So every day is not like the next; there are still hills and valleys.

Even when she comes to our hospital, her Dr. where she is now, is the one calling the shots, and she'll be sent back, if something were to go wrong again. He's made that perfectly clear, and reiterated that today when he came in.

Just the matter of waiting on a bed.

Oh, my step-father was there today as well, and the two of them gave me my birthday gift early. ( a new laptop, cause mine is on it's last legs). I cried.

I can use fresh soil, that's a good idea. And I'll top dress it a bit as well. Though, I think that once I unpot it , I'll probably want to do a full repot. Most times, I do a full repot and put into 511 mix, but this plant is so dear to me, I'd be heartbroken if I messed up the repot. If Al finds out that I am doing this half-cocked kind of planting, both of us will be in for a talking-to. See how I made it "us" instead of "me?" :)

I wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't heard back from them. I am just hearing back from a couple of sellers that I had asked some questions about things from a week or so ago. They both apologized for being behind with their emails. Holdidays are busy times for all I suppose.

Rococco, sure. Sephora should have a BE counter and a tech to play with your face. I was in Chicago last night and dragged my makeup phobic friend into the BE Boutique at Woodfield, (Mecca itself, only two in the midwest I think) for a makeup application. Had to ply her with a glass of wine first. We'd been up since 5, driven 3 hours, then had a tedious all day conference - our 50s faces were not exactly dewey and fresh... When they were done, she looked great!! Another convert. BTW BE is "15 spf", but you use so very, very little that I doubt it is sufficient protection. Oh, and on the messiness of the powders. I'd forgotten to swirl the brush in a bit in the lid, and was kinda dunking it instead. Duh. The lid and the Kleenex tip did the trick. Thanks.

Oh no Phyllis! I made 2 more loaves yesterday, but I used Brigitte, while waiting for my new bread pan to arrive from Black and Decker. (And it did arrive yesterday!) They turned out great, but I always make my dough in my breadmaker (half the recipe......e.g. 1 1/2 cups white and 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour, 2 tbsp oil, 1/4 honey etc. I think we'll have to go through it step by step and see if you're doing something different. A stupid question is your yeast......is it fresh? Since your loaf didn't rise.

Sherry,,I'm so glad she's improved to where she is now! I'm gonna Pray that woman home even if I have to buy knee pads to do it!!!

Thanks for the update, Jasdip. As I've said before, but can't be said too many times.....your Mom is amazing. Prayers going out that she continues to improve enough to go to your hospital. It sounds like she is getting wonderful care.

Always nice to hear good news about your mom. I'm sure the doctors and nurses are as amazed as we all are, and may she continue to amaze us!

I'm glad your mother is doing better. I firmly believe in the power of prayer, and I know there have been a lot of KT prayers sent up for her. Please keep us updated, as we really care.

Congratulations on a wonderful birthday gift! And Happy Birthday early!!

I'm late to see this because I'm on the West Coast and three hours behind. My goodness, from your last post it's hard to believe she is once again where she was before the last set-back! I take it the other hospital is a lot closer to you? She (and you!) are so lucky the doctor in her current hospital is willing to keep tabs on her, especially considering her experience when she was first hospitalized. I'll be my bossy self and tell you to not hesitate to call him if you think they are not treating her correctly. :) It didn't sound like they knew at all what they were doing at that time, but now that she has a history with all the write-ups that they're privy to, there should not be the problems. How great that she was able to eat some of the smoothie and some fruit! With all the good cooking you do perhaps you'll be able to entice her to eat a little more when you are able to visit. Thanks very much for posting, Sherry. Say hello to your mom for me! (How kind of her and Wally to give yo a laptop for your b-day--you must be having fun with it right now.)
