I bought a large (35 pounds) bag of sunflower seeds. I will share it, with Jean, as we both feed birds in the winter.

This is one reason I've never joined FB. People DO 'share' their every mundane thought or action.

I enjoy FB, and have none of the problems people have mentioned here. I don't know anyone who has cooperated with Amazon's marketing gimmick.

I am with you Alisande, I very much enjoy FB~~no problems here. My older DD has the most friends on hers and she blocks people that step over ASAP.

It seems that pretty much every website wants you to share something on FB (and other sites). If you do share then it's free advertising for them.

Even if you don't want to share, items you viewed pop up as advertisements to remind you that you just might want to buy them.

FB has evolved into a whole other animal than it's original intention. i do FB but just with my daughters. It started as a joke with one daughter setting up my page. I have a few of their friends (again as a joke) and a few relatives.

I don't have a Facebook account but my wife does. Friends will invite her to "connect", and then she gets sucked in to those who produce torrents of "who cares?" messages. We joke about one person who likes to report details of her daily activities from sunrise to sunset, as if anyone were interested.

Thanks for my chuckle of the day, Lucille. When I saw where you added toilet paper to your purchase, I thought I'd check to see what the cost would be at Amazon. I got a good chuckle out of seeing there were 3 places where I could buy my brand 'new'. As opposed to 'used'? ; * )

I have FB, but have not posted much. I just keep track of some friends and relatives and very careful what I respond to or accept who is my friend.

Gadgets- sometimes the "used" can refer to damaged packaging. I saved about $100 buying 2 very hard to find toilet seats through Amazon. Because the packaging was damaged, the price was drastically reduced. I always check out the used prices and the descriptions because I'm thrifty like that.

As for sharing purchases with all of my friends on Facebook, I think that they would all be able to tell you that they have no idea of what I have purchased anywhere. And I don't see a lot of that stuff from them, either.

I thought you were considering sharing it with neighbours, family, friends etc. living nearby ... especially bulky stuff like toilet paper ... (spell check is unhappy with my spelling).

That'd make a lot more sense than sharing with some distant person, as you'd get less for it than the postage cost.

You might be careful about sharing too much of it, Lucille ... for as we age, we tend to use more of it. It's a double-barrelled problem, at least with me, as we tend to need to pee more often ... and often the sphincters gang up on one (i.e., the "one" that thinks he's in charge), and when one (of them) lets go ... the other feels that it should keep in harmony with the one right beside it.

Actually, some time ago there was a question here about my story (over ten years ago) about "first research result: successful recycling of toilet paper" ...

... and when I referred to it, not long ago, someone came on to say that they felt that wouldn't be very sanitary.

Actually, the "recycling" claim was somewhat in error, as "recycling" means at least a measure of reprocessing ... and the only way that was "recycled" was to roll it back on an empty tube.

Sometimes you want to share on FB because you found a good deal. I don't know what the difference between posting here and posting on FB is. On FB you choose who can read what you post, here anyone can read. I have many friends, including myself who do not use their last names on FB any longer, many of them teachers. I changed it so now I use my middle name as my last name. KT members share mundane household purchases or what they have for dinner so what is the difference. If my friends on FB don't want to see posts they can block them, like with the games but still remain friends. Just like today I posted my mundane purchase of frozen hamburgers to let my friends know how good they are and that they were on sale this week.

I am the only one in my family who doesn't FB. I have no interest in it. I don't want to reconnect with old friends, keep up with everyone's "status," or find out who's traveling where.

Once when I went in the local convenience story to pay for my gas, the attendant was standing at the cash register crying. There was no one else in the store. Why was she crying? Something somebody had posted on FB about her. I just wanted to shake her - If you don't like what you see there, don't go there!

That's funny. Who would want to know you bought tp? Don't most people? I don't think anyone would really care that I bought a rubix cube or a pair of headphones on Amazon, but now you know. :) Actually, I do know one woman who buys everything from Amazon, and she loves to talk about it. She must be the one person clicking to share her purchases on Facebook.

My other purchase (the reason I added on the tp to get free shipping) was a warehouse purchase. Flamingo is right, you can get great deals there, I was buying a $50+ wall mount bike rack for $17.
I do like telling people about the Warehouse because it is a great way to pick some stuff up at a discount. So I'm certainly not averse to sharing that sort of purchase info, because it might help someone else by getting them to look through the Warehouse and maybe save.
But to just announce that I bought tp on FB? Who cares?

I just got finished with a major fundraising project at one of my children's school. No facebook or online stuff. We got to talking and found out three of us buy our toilet paper online and have it shipped to the house. You have to buy in mass quantities to get the free shipping discount. I could see someone sharing info like that and helping friends find more cost effective purchases.

Well said Cherryfizz! I mean really, whats the difference between someone posting trivial stuff on their facebook than some of the stuff that gets posted here. The what did you have for dinner post for example. Does anyone really care what someone else ate. Or this is my monthly meeting menu...and usually its things that are all over the internet and the person says I made my special this that or the other thing.
Facebook or here, people post what they want, some are interested and some are not.
Why should any of us care. If you don't like it, don't read it!
But don't tell people what they should or shouldn't post.

It depends on what I buy. My daughter and I both do the Keto way of eating, and often there are free books available for our Kindles. So I'll share the book so she can get it, or so others who are wondering what the heck I'm eating can download it for free and see I'm really not killing myself. LOL And as someone else said, sometimes you just find and awesome deal that you want to let others know about in case they may be interested as well, and they won't miss out. I don't share all my purchases on Amazon. Just now and then.

The Amazon Warehouse is where Amazon.com puts items with damaged packing, and sometimes customer returns. If the items themselves are in good shape except for cosmetic issues like maybe a scratch or torn packaging, Amazon.com sells them at discounted prices.
They are still warranted so can be returned.
I have bought from the Warehouse for years and only one time the item didn't work, Amazon.com sent a carrier to pick it up from my house and issued a full refund plus shipping.
