What is your favorite color and why?

I love twilight blue/purple, like when the sky turns from evening almost into night, and the mountains are purple and the stars just start to twinkle. It is such a calming color for me and makes me smile.

Purple, dark grape purple.
Second is Mauve
Third is lilac

As to why I like purple, and it's various shades....I don't know.
In clothing, it goes with my hair and complexion.
Mauve for home decor, is just what I like to be around... strong but restful and it goes with my favorite woods - cherry and oak.

Yellow in almost every shade except dark yellow-brown.
Next is purple/lilac.
Like Michelle Phxaz, that twilight blue is sometimes breathtaking. To me at least.
The color I dislike the most is pink, especially the bright fusha pink.

What is your favorite fern and why?

The sheer impossibility of home cultivation is what attracts me to my favourite fern varieties. I love cloud forest ferns most of all - think 'tropical rainforest' but at much higher altitude. Maybe up to 4000 metres above sea level - practically a mountain top, but still recognisably 'tropical'. Swathed in mist all the time - so permanently humid - the intense equatorial light filtered by the vapour clouds and with very cool night time temperature drops, cloud forests are the perfect environment for tens of thousands of orchid species and many, many ferns. Almost impossible to replicate for us - perhaps a well designed terrarium can just about give you the edge, but the ventilation and the temperature drop are still fiendishly difficult to simulate realistically. Mount Kinabalu, in northern Borneo, has to be the last word in this kind of pristine tropical cloud forest habitat - and it's home to the spidery Cibotium arachnoideum tree fern. That's my dream fern, my fantasy. A HUGE Cibotium arachnoideum fern, dripping with morning dew. Dream on... Steve - Brighton, Sussex Coast, UK

What's your favorite Stamile and why?

I have 10 Stamile cultivars in my yard, two of them are new and have not bloomed yet. So far, my favorites are: Wish Fulfillment - an oldie, but every year it puts out many, many large, frilly, gold-edged, red blooms, and I like reds - - you'll see that in my other picks! All Fired Up - Bright and it blooms and blooms. Last year, it started in May and rebloomed until the last bloom was mis-shapen due to cold weather. Scarlet Lace - Another frilly red. I got it last year as only 2 fans ands got only a couple of blooms. This year it is 5-6 fans and is giving me 2-3 blooms every day for the last two weeks. Songwriter - Its new in my garden this year and still a relatively small plant. Still, I've gotten huge deep rose-pink blooms. They ought to be wonderful next year. All of the pictures are from my garden, so blame my gardening techniques and my picture-taking if they don't look "right" to you. Larry

What are your favorite shrubs? Why?

Rose of Sharon is not a rose bush. I believe it is in the mallow family a close relative of the hibiscus. Blooms in summer and atracts hummingbirds, grows up to 10' and is a deciduous bush. Comes in a variety of colors, including pink, white and lilac. A very behaved bush, I have not trimmed mine in over 5 years, and it grows more or less vertically. Here are some links for pictures of Rose of Sharon and Smokebush. http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/788/index.html http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/1043/index.html Lee

I'm so drawn to blues...always have been...especially royal blue. When I wear it...the blue in my eyes really comes out and I always get compliments.

When asked that question, I used to always say true red, but when I look in my closet, I see very little red. Today I will say that my favorite color is grey. When I look in a miror, I am always satisfied with how I look when wearing any shade of grey, right up to black.

I don't have a favorite. I like lots of colors. My braids dresses were each a different color...navy blue, hunter green, and burgandy. I like interior house colors of red and yellow. For clothes, I seem to pick dark blues, black and muted shades of red.

I like a lot of colors. Don't really have one favorite. I like red, green, gray, silver, and most any colors you see on leaves.

I don't like blue. Got so sick of seeing it and had so many blue cars I got tired of it.

Yellow. Who doesn't love a sunny day?

I love yellow because it is such a sunny color. Light yellow, not orangy or school bus yellow. But I don't wear it as it washes me out.

Red.......Red is and always has been my favorite. I have owned everything imaginable in my life in the color red ....except....a vehicle. I have always wanted a red vehicle and for some reason, it just never happened.

Salmon/coral. I wish it would become more popular with decorators. It's a nice soothing color.

For clothes, I'm drawn toward bright greens and turquoise. Shoot, everybody looks good in those colors no matter what your hair color.
