Wow, Nicole, where is that, and is one of those guys your husband? Neat place!!

bigack...thanks...the one to the left is my DH....the one to the right is a professional photographer friend of DH's.....his motorhome's transmission went out, so we were trying to "entertain" him with places he may not of been before. This is "Paint Mines" in Calhan CO.

The paint mines are named for their colorful clays that were collected By American Indians to make paint. Brightly colored bands, caused by oxidized iron compounds, are found in varying amounts throughout the many different layers of clay. When the outcrops erode, a hard capstone allows columns of clay to be preserved beneath them, creating fantastic spires called hoodoos. Selenite (gypsum) contibutes to the color, and white quartzitic crystals dazzle the eye. (quoted from the park brochure)

taigen.....come on down! Like I said to Jodi...before I go visit Alaska I'm gonna pick her brain about where to go & what to see. You are welcome to ask me the same before planning a trip to Colorado. :0) There are still places I've never been, like Estes Park.

alisande....The pro is Mike & I asked the same thing. He uses bracketing, 3 shots, then layer masking in Photoshop. His camera is a 21.1mp Canon EOS-1DS Mark 111 .

Hi Carol I know its been a long time since I have posted but I just wanted to say Your Granddaughter is so darn cute!

nicole, you really should go experience the Estes Park area. Just don't be tempted to taste the water in one of those crystal clear streams. My then, 13 y/o son did and got Giardia.

drewsmaga.....oh no! He didn't! The streams are very clear here, but we carry a water purifying pump bottle when we hike. :0) Good advice tho.

phyllis_mn....He is also a clever jokester! He put a fake comment box under my DH's picture. When you click on the box it takes you to a cheezy David Hasselhoff video. I've NEVER seen anything THAT cheezy! Man! HOW FUNNY! Take a look....
