First I made an appointment to get my teeth cleaned, I had to cancel a few weeks ago (go in every 4 months), & was surprised that she had two openings next Monday...which is very unusual. Wonder if The Great Recession is forcing people to cut back on dental work. Then I decided to take a long walk (5 miles up, 5 miles back) to our County Courthouse to do some genealogy research. A lady requested info on a great uncle who left home in Minnesota around the turn of the 20th Century, ended up in California, was rarely heard from again, changed his last name, and died here in 1964 at age 83. She was able to at least obtain a copy of his CA death certificate, but that was about it. The "exciting" part ws I was surprised to find a modest probate proceeding for him at the Courthouse, and since there were no known heirs, a nice sum of money was turned over to the State of California in 1966, which I believe his heirs are still entitled to. I don't know if interest is obliged to be paid by the State on this money, but it felt good to tell someone that they might be getting a little unexpected windfall. So I more than got my daily exercise in & also did my Good Deed for the day.

1. Anything that once walked around on land 2. Anything stuffed inside something that once walked around on land. 3. Anything with sweet potatoes/yams. Especially canned with marshmallows on it. We'll be eating with my boyfriend's family. I have to work that day so it makes it hard for me to contribute something actually vegetarian (I'll try and make something the night before). These kind of meals are difficult for vegetarians when meat eaters sometimes don't quite get that something might not be vegetarian just because it doesn't have big hunks of meat in it, ie....chicken stock, bacon bits, etc. Some people put some sort of animal product in everything they make, even the vegetables. Which is fine, just makes things trickier for me. All my sisters are vegetarians (or pesca-tarians), so our holidays meals are filled with tons of delicious vegetarian dishes, but being the only one is a whole different ball game.

I polished a couple more pieces of silver -- hands will only permit a little at a time. I played with the dog, who came home from the groomer somewhat cowed -- not his usual happy "Admire Me" attitude. I may try to nap a little -- always difficult for me unless I'm really, really sick.

Azzalea, glad your husband came through surgery okay! Yes, worrying just does one it doesn't it. Hope you feel better soon RavenCajun! (knock on wood) I haven't been sick with a cold in a long time. But with taking the Methotrexate I better get a flu shot this year! Just got through with supper, doing the dishes, sweeping the floor again(cat played with her kibble food on floor and I stepped on it.) Put the dishes away, took a shower and now it is MY time! I might sit with a cup of tea and crochet some more on the new doily I started this morning. Deb

Thanks for the food pantry tip, Mamatoad. I'll remember that when the stores have a BOGO on canned fruit.

I can't get to the polls until this afternoon, but DH and I will do it. President Obama is a lock, but there are other state and federal contests congressional contests -- and a couple of judges who need be voted OUT.

The rug men came yesterday, taking all our Orientls to be washed. Phew! The dust! Clean rugs to come back next Monday.

A cleaning service is here today. (My first stab at 'hired help' in a long time.) They're to do the 'usual' plus wash all our floors (hardwood and tile), wash baseboards, dust down the walls, polish some silver. I have no idea of what to actually expect by the end of the day -- aside from a big bill!

I've done three loads of wash -- more throw rugs to go. Our Westie is at the groomer for a much needed wash and trim after recuperating from his minor surgery (and the 'cone').

DH is at a lecture at his university all morning.

I make a list every day...my second job on the list, which I am just getting ready to go out and do is clean cages...I only have 4 possum cages, so it won't take long. I also plan to work outside and clean the bedroom.
