Disapointed with Halloween this year

We are getting fewer and fewer trick or treaters every year! Our small neighborhood (14 houses) is full of kids (almost 30 under the age of 13) and the kids on the nearby busy road used to come here as well because we are a cul de sac, so no traffic. One year we got like 35 kids, then 20 or so, this year we got 6 and I know a few of those were repeaters (they came more than once, which is fine). I realize we don't have the optimal neighborhood. The yards are big, the driveways are long. But I always make it worth it for them, letting them take at least 5 pieces each. And 5 good pieces, like 5 Reeses cups!

I learned from one of the fathers that the neighboring town has a subdivision with 200 houses that are on small lots with short driveways, so the kids all want to go there. They must clean up, that's for sure.

So, I bought $21 of candy (eight bags, I think) and have 3 unopened bags and still had a half full bowl. DH is making quick work of it.

Has anyone else experienced the same thing?
