Halloween Party Ideas for 3-4 year olds
Comments (3)Hi Pam, A little late for Halloween, but here is an easy game. It is a variation of drop the clothes pin in the bottle. You take Dum dum suckers, wrap a piece of kleenex over the top, tie just under sucker head with orange or black ribbon, use a marker to make "eyes" on your dum dum ghosts, then drop into a pumpkin or a witches cauldron. Another one is to tie marshmallows to strings, hang at appropriate heights. Then they have to eat the marshmallows off the strings with their hands behind their backs. Can also use donuts or apples too. Yet another. Give each child a piece of paper with the shape of a pumpkin drawn on it, magazine and a crayon. They must place the paper on the magazine, place magazine on their head and then draw a "face" on the jack o lantern while it is on their heads! Have fun, Kathy G in MI...See MoreDisapointed with Halloween this year
Comments (27)We had our usual few shows. The interest has been dropping over the years even though there is an ample supply of children near our house. 15 years ago, we had an opposite problem: professional visitors! There were a few familes from a large city one county away who 'raided' the better suburbs for candy and treats. It was the accompaning adult's goal to collect as much loot as possible, then take it home to meter it out in lunches or fence the goods in their neignborhood. We did have a cute pair of boys, possibly a brother team. One was dressed as a gangster. He held a toy gun to his smaller partner's head and said, "Give us candy or he gets it!"...See MoreA Halloween pumpkin for next year?
Comments (7)You'll need to do some math, I think. Most seed packets/catalog descriptions will tell you the 'days to harvest' for any particular variety, so you need to count back from that plus a few weeks. That said, some varieties will grow better than others in FL during the hot season. I have a winter squash (originally a volunteer that I've saved seed from for a number of years now) that grew all summer long, looking a bit ragged, but giving me loads of blossoms & about 9 fruits from 4 plants. It's not a classic pumpkin tho - looks more like a pear-shaped Seminole pumpkin. You can use this guide from the U of F extension - if you haven't already. Both planting dates and recommended varieties are listed... http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/vh021 HTH...See MoreMailbox Halloween decor this year
Comments (20)I decorate for autumn/Halloween, and took it down on Halloween last year. Will do it again this year. No point in avoiding everything just because I won't hand out candy. A modified version goes up for Thanksgiving....See More- 3 years ago
