DH having hip replaced

We leave for the hospital in the morning where my DH will have a hip replacement. He has been in so much pain, he it totally ready for it. I have had both my knees replaced recently and I'm not really up to doing this, but gotta do what you gotta do. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We expect to be in the hospital about three days then to a rehab center for therapy for 2 weeks. Gonna miss ya'll. Will take me forever to catch up on everything. Charlene

He will feel so much better after he finishes his physical therapy he will be able to take care of you.
Be safe while driving and know you and your DH will be in my thoughts and prayers during the trip continuing through the recovery period.
Keep us updated when you can.

Charlene, I know this is going to be hard for you physically. Bless your heart. I hope all goes well and he sails right through the surgery and therapy with no complications. I'll keep both of you in my thoughts and prayers. Please be careful and take care of yourself too.

It's wonderful that he is thinking about playing afterwards, but I have a feeling that once it's done, he's going to see the wisdom of getting his exercise in just watching the others play. He may the one in a million that could breeze through the whole thing. Let's hope he's smart enough to take it easy.

Morz------thanks so much for the Zimmer information----I'm pretty sure that is what my surgeon will be using----- We didn't learn too much today---It was basically just a talk about what to expect after surgery ---- each case is different so the instructions were pretty general. Carla---I remember when you had your hip done------As I recall you didn't have any problems. Are you still OK ?? My surgery date is Sept. 17------- I've been told that most people who have hip replacement usually need the other hip done. However I have a friend who had THR a few years before I did and so far she has no pain in the other hip---- She is 81 and looks about 60------and moves great. Hopefully this will be a "piece of cake"----LOL I would just as soon never go in a hospital but thank goodness they have all these surgeries ( I had successful back surgery in Nov 2005 ) or I would be in a wheelchair ----- Take Care, Florence

What a nice surprise to find some old friends here this weekend - Florence, I'm glad to see you're doing well - I think of you! We're getting a little break in weather today (spring has been cool, wet). I pruned roses a little late, then found critical deer had done my job over, which led to me pruning again to straighten up what they'd reshaped. Someone has to come to an understanding around here on who gets the final say on the roses :) My fault, I'd been lax in spraying repellent with the uninviting weather, now this afternoon I've got to get that done so it doesn't happen again. welcome back flo, take care to do exactly what you should be without pushing things and before yuo know it, you'll be better than new! your therapists may seem like they are pushing you, but it's all for the good of your recovery. your gardens will be just fine. good time to have it done when the gardens will be resting (soon if autumn and then winter ever get here). maryanne

Good luck to your DH.....I've heard that hip replacement is much easier to recover from than the knee surgery.

I wish your DH good luck with his surgery.

I'm having a knee replacement replaced Tuesday - it's called a "revision." Am both dreading & looking forward to it to get the pain over with. Then having other knee replaced early next year.

Did you have both your knees done at the same time?
