Another one home from the hospital.....

I got to feeling worse last Friday and my doctor told me to go to the emergency room, which I did. They admitted me to the hospital and I just got home this evening. I'm feeling better, just weak.

Please keep me in your thoughts that my pneumonia doesn't come back.

Greg, Thanks for the well wishes. I do feel like I have been thru quite a bit, but I just keep telling myself "There's always someone out there who has it far worse than me." I try to always have that attitude. After both surgeries I realized how much more difficult my life could be if I permanently lost the use of my legs or my back. I'll tell ya what, I have my good days and my bad days but in general I try to keep myself in a positive mood. I see that you also like the plumeria forums on Face Book! It was nice to be able to put a face with a name. I especially like being able to see all your plumeria pictures there. I need to invest in a good camera so I can take the same kind of pictures! Anyhow, when I do find myself having days when I am in a lot of pain, I like to go to Face Book(and also here!) so I can see all the great plumeria pictures. They really do cheer me up a lot. Hi Qaguy, I will be contacting you soon. I am trying to get my hands on as many cuttings as I can right now. Reason being, they give me something to enjoy and to look forward to! I really enjoy watching cuttings throw out there first roots, leaves, inflos, and BUDS! Hi Mona, The way I see it right now is that ANY day is a good day as long as I am not a patient in the hospital that is!! Hi Irun, LOL, at least there is someone who knows how I feel! I am so glad to be off of the steroids! I was getting them 3 times a day, everyday I was there! Tomorrow I have to be at my first follow up. I have mixed emotions in regards to this appointment. In one hand, I know that there going to remove all 75 staples, and that right there will make me feel much better. The reason I don't want to go is because the nuerosurgeon's office is 45 minutes away and I have to ride in a car up there and back, not including the wait in his waiting room, and then the exam room! You know it doesn't matter if you have had major back surgery or not, and in all fairness, there could be a dozen other patients waiting to be seen, and there appointment could also be a follow up after there surgery. Is there no family you could move in with for a short while? I don't meant to pry, I just am concerned about your housing predicament. Coupled with your health concerns, you are under quite a lot of stress. You need to heal & recover. True, thank goodness, you dodged a bullet this time, but your little body (& soul) has been through a lot Threedgrad! If family is not an option, could you contact that helpful social worker again? You need to be guided to some long-term resources. You can't keep wondering where your next home is going to be & fully recover at the same time. I know you are a hard worker, and you want to be independent, but there is a season to lean on others, too! Please contact some of the helpers in your community. There has to be some kind of assistance for you in your area. Keep us posted!

Trin, Sending good thoughts and prayers for her. I went through the lumpectomy and radiation 6 1/2 years ago, so I hope that she will be as fortunate. The one thing that helped me was following the diet they gave me after the surgery. It said to have lots of good quality protein - eggs, chicken, turkey. I can't remember what else. The diet helped me heal quickly. I'm sure that they will give her good advice. Another thing that helped me is that I started swimming when the surgeon said I could. Swimming slowly helped to stretch the chest and arm muscles.

Thank you all. We went to our daughters, and he ate dinner and did well. The only problem was persistent hiccups. They came yesterday after he got home, then they leave, but come back. He slept 9 hours with out them ,and this morning they started up. Off and on all day, mostly on. As we were leaving, he grabbed some pistachios and they stopped at 10. .We have tried sugar on a spoon, p-nut butter on a spoon, various breathing techniques to no avail. I'm sure it's related to the meds and trauma on his body. If I had a fall like this, they would have swept me up and put me in a dust bin.SIL is a great photographer, and I wanted a family pix. Grandson was complaining I always want to take one, and daughter said that we never know who won't be here the next time. True, but morbid.

Oh Shoot! I was hoping that you could get over this bout on your own! Thank goodness for the hospitals tho. Hopefully this will be the last time you see it for a Very long time!

Gosh, I so hate to hear you are down. You take it easy, and don't get out unless you have to. This is the flu season, and you don't need to be a catchers mitt for every bug out there right now.
Get your strength up, and be good to yourself. We are here for you night and day.

That pneumonia just takes time. When I had it I thought it would last forever, but one day I felt so much better and you will too!! Pamper yourself. Keep us informed!

Thanks everyone. I feel so fortunate to have wonderful friends and family here at home, but the KTers are special. Most of you haven't met me, but are so caring anyway. The cards, good thoughts and prayers make me feel so good and I thank all of you for being such good "invisible" friends.

I'm glad you're home, MaryAnn, and it's good of you to check in so we don't worry too much. I hope your pneumonia takes a hike and that you feel so much better really soon!

I'll get your package off in the mail in the next day or 2! Sorry for the delay, I've been at the Mumster's house for the last little while, keeping her company and being her wheels while Pops is out of town.

Thanks Flamey. It's a wonder we didn't scare you to death when we came to see you. Jammer and I both were sunburned and our faces were very red except totally white where our durags had been. I know we looked really strange. You were probably wondering "Who in the world did I invite to my house?" LOL

Good gravy Mary Ann! I wish there was some way to know these things when they're happening instead of after the fact.

I'm glad you and your doctor are taking the pneumonia seriously, because it can definitely be a serious situation.

Please rest, take care of yourself, and rest some more. We want you healthy.
