I have to say I agree.
I like the plainer stuff, regular potato chips,
popcorn with butter and salt. I don't like flavors
added, or any spiciness on anything.
Okay, I do like sour cream and chive chips, but that's
all....

Like shredded wheat cereal, but love Jalapeno chips, or salt and vinegar chips, not fond of cheese ones but like other flavors. Can't eat popcorn anymore, but love the popcorn that has no shells etc. Love both the cheese and Carmel ones. Like spicy foods, especially Mexican and like most Asian foods--do not like cajun, but like some southern foods.

I agree.... And will go one step farther....I don't like ICE CREAM that pretends to be something else....don't want strawberry cheesecake ice cream or chocolate brownie ice cream. I'll take VANILLA, chocolate, peach, etc. please. Yeah, I know I'm in the minority on this issue!

I am with you. Hate Chex Mix, but like Chex cereals. HATE pretzels and don't like flavored potato chips either. I like caramel popcorn but have to say I LIKE kettle corn. Anything that has a sweet taste, I have to keep that sweet tooth happy!!

I love chex mix but only homemade, not the bagged one. I want to control the amount of pretzels (less) and the nuts (more!). I don't like flavored chips beyond barbecued. And for popcorn....original only, salt and butter.

I only like chex mix at Christmas...and it's got to be at a party...LOL...I try to avoid chips at all costs cause with me their all lays...you cant eat just one...

DS came home with a bag of Snyder pretzels with peanut butter between them...I made him hide them...OMGOSH!! They were wonderful!!

I'm a plain kind of ice cream gal too...Choklit...Strawberry or Vanilla...but mostly choklit...and here lately it's got to be MAYFIELD...if I'm gonna splurge on all those calories...I want it to at least be a little real!!

I prefer homemade. I was just thinking today that I used to send homemade Chex Mix to DD when she was in college. I will have to make some to bring with me next time I visit.

No Kat, you are not the only one. I can add to your list. I love ice cream. I love cake and pastries.

Just don't combine them for me!!

Moni

I make marinated cheezits and is a big time hit with family.

Also caramel cheetos are great!

oh, true, Moni! I like cake... pie... do NOT put
icecream on it! please! lol
sorry Glenda those sound horrid. LOL

I am right there with you Kat. I am very much a purist when it comes to snack foods. Actually many foods. I can't stand seasoned chips, crackers or popcorn.

I also don't like things glopped together. Yes I will eat cake and ice cream but on separate plates.

I don't like my food swimming in things. I am a dipper whether it is salad dressing, most gravy or pancake syrup.

Even though I am purist I am an adventurous diner. I love ethnic foods, organ meats and seafood. Just don't prepare in a slimey, mush-like or a creamy, goopy, wet casserole concoction.

When you start adding things like chocolate chips to muffins they are no longer muffins. Those are cupcakes. There are only two kinds of bagels...plain and egg. If they haven't been boiled they are NOT bagels. They are donut shaped rolls. Sprinkling of seeds can be tolerable. There is no such thing as a whole wheat English Muffin.

Vegetable are delicious. they don't need fake cheese sauce or be covered in grease.

If you need to put sauce on a steak it's time to learn to choose or serve a better cut of meat. If you eat steak without pink ... you don't like red meat. Leave that nice ribeye for someone who appreciates it. Put ketchup on it and I want to kill you.

Mayo is EVIL. Rant over. Thank you.

I don't like Chex Mix (there are several varieties) and I hate flavored potato chips. I've become so picky about potato chips I only buy one brand-Wise. Hate those yucky added flavors-cheeses, barbeque, sour cream and onion, etc. I thought I was the only one. Oh, I am not that picky. I like sour cream and onion dip, and I adore cheddar cheese as a snack by itself or with apples and crackers. Guess I just like things my way.

We stay low carb so we no longer have chips, pretzels or chex mix....but I do make chex mix nuts! I make it with just walnuts, almonds, pecans and cashews, so we get the flavor without all the starch.

There;s one mix I do like-it's homemade and I only make it around Halloween. Raisins, candy corn, and salted cashews. I make a big bowl and leave it in the kitchen. When it's gone, that's it. My kids tend to eat only the cashews.

anyone like "puppy chow"? we used to make it every christmas...or "bird nests" (chocolate and peanut covered chow mein noodles)? last time i made them, was in a hurry so set the tray outside to firm up the chocolate...(it was freezing) lol..the neighborhood squirrels found them and ate the entire tray...

I just sent some to dd (in college,) yesterday. She loves Chex Mix, but only without nuts and pretzels and definitely homemade. I guess the wheat Chex aren't all that bad but the butter that goes on them is another story.

I doubt I've eaten Chex Mix since junior high/spin-the-bottle parties in somebody's basement rec room! Don't miss it either.

I never enter the middle grocery store aisle lined with shelves of poison 'food' (snacks) and beverages.

I also hate these perennial 'holiday dishes': The gloppy sodium bomb, Green Bean Casserole; the sickening Sweet Potatoes with Marshmallows; and *Canned* Cranberry Mold. Even those are not as revolting as the week's leftover vegetables in Lime Jello served up by DH's fraternity house cook. (Only heard about that; never tasted it.) I can only think of one Jello mold that I do like: Bing Cherries in Wild Cherry Jello made with Sherry, with Sour Cream layer.

I'm not too picky, about the only snack I keep in the house is popcorn and then we don't seem to eat it much. I do like homemade Chex mix and would probably eat the store bought too if someone served it. I detest green bean casserole, but love sweet potatoes just about anyway you fix them.

Sue

Me Me Me!! I like all the items that go into it, but can't stand it mixed together or whatever the spice that goes on it. And funny enough, my friend offered my DD some this summer at the pool. She took a few bites and then spit some out.

I like some flavored chips (BBQ or Sour Cream) but a lot are way too covered in artifical spices.
