Out of hospital

Thanks to all my wonderful friends.

Thanks for the cards and prayers. I got out of the hospital today and am at a place for physical therapy. I am very weak and can't walk and barely move in my bed. I've been too weak to even use my iPhone. I can tell a big difference today. I'm very comfortable here. Ate my first meal here and it was very good. I ate more than since my Vegas trip.

Bruce... I noticed your absence, but was unaware of your illness. Glad you are doing better. I know all about the pneumonia thing. Came down with a case of it myself, last March, after a trip to Nebraska. The doctor did not put me in the hospital, but I felt like I was going to die. Sick for a month, and almost two months before I really began to feel back to normal. Add staph infection and shingles, all at the same time, and it wasn't pretty. You must have had it really bad! My heart goes out to you. My dad married my step mom 20+ years ago and about ten years ago, she suffered a brain aneurysm. She survived but has never regained consciousness, she's been in a persistent vegetative state (fed through a tube & breathes with a trach) She also has three children that don't see her. Her daughter took care of her for two years because my dad moved out of their house and allowed her family to move in rent free & paid her $2000.00 a month to take care of her own mom. After two years, she quit and my dad took over. To add insult to injury, all of her kids joined together last year to file a lawsuit against my dad to make him account for their mom's money. They are worried about an inheritance (and consider my dad's business, community property. It's not since he inherited it from my grandfather.) When he proved to the court that all of her income goes to her care (and her savings were depleted years ago) and he actually spends over $2000 per month of his income on her care, they all went away. None of them even calls or visits now. My daughter and I take care of my step mom while my dad works. (and my dad was extremely hurt that his step daughter would abandon ship because he was closer to her and treated her like a daughter, even before they were married.) I don't know why children would abandon a parent like that except that they are selfish. They are teaching their children, through their actions, how they should treat them when they are old or get sick. It's very sad and your husband is lucky to have a loving wife. I hope he has a will.

No one can predict if you will have another stroke or any other thing but having a high stress level can add to the problem. It is not unknown to have blood clots, fat, tissue etc. release from areas that are healing. Although not carotid related I have had several friends that have had heart attacks/strokes after injuries to feet and ankles because of how the body heals which is how I learned about this. Talk to your doctor about cleaning out the other side if both were not done to relieve some of your worry.

I'm so happy for you, and I know you will follow all instructions. Keep up the good fight!

I almost closed up and went to bed before seeing this. Now I can go to bed with thankful prayer and ask for strength and wisdom.
Always remember that the body heals while in the resting mode. I'm so glad you like this new place, and the food is good. That always helps.

This is the best post I've read today, knowing you are out of the hospital, in rehab, and on the road to recovery. Prayers have certainly been answered, thanks given, and more prayers will continue until you are home again.

What a treat seeing you post a message!!!

You've been through hell and back, and the "back" part is just miraculous. Take it easy, do everything they tell you to, and don't rush it. You need to build your strength slowly so that you can be back posting regularly, cause we all miss you.

I'm glad you're feeling better MaryAnn. My mom has been going through much of the same thing and is also in a rehab hospital right now. She's made a lot of progress in a short time and I'm sure you will too.

Wonderful News!!Do the therapy and get stronger. KT prayers are powerful. God is good! I am still awaiting test results but I know the prayers are helping. Great News for you!

Some folks had said that we should see you back in a measure of health ... that you were a tough old bird, so to speak.

I have been following along with all of the posts about you and your health. I have been praying and sending along special thoughts.

It sounded really scary there for a bit. To see you here making a post on your own is a miracle! I feel blessed to be able to have witnessed it.

I am hoping for continued healing for you and that you are feeling back to normal as soon as possible.
