Trouble navigating around here...help!

Hi everyone,

I'm new here and I seem to be having a problem with everything moving very slow and also taking a long time to switch back and forth from the different topics.

I'm getting dizzy watching the spinning...LOL!

I would appreciate any help and just hope I can understand

what you tell me.

Welcome! It may be your internet, mine is slower this time of day when everyone is getting home from work/school. There really is no trick, just patience.

mine is slow too I have to keep clicking on the refresh button on top the vutton next to the right arrow

I think I found the root of my problem. This morning as I was pulling up yet another mysteriously dead marigold, I found a grub at the base of the root ball. The root ball was very small for such a large plant, so I assume the grub is the culprit. He is now in grub heaven but how do you get rid of grubs? Is there some type of insecticide to eliminate them? I fear I will lose my entire flower bed if I can't find a solution. I have been having problems with racoons digging up my grass lately, so I think I may have a major problem here. Help!

Unbeknownst to its users, Webshots employed its Webshots Desktop Application (a free program that users can download from their site to manage their online pictures) to install the Kiwee Toolbar as part of a software update for this program. Other than the Wikipedia article (whose references don't appear to have anything to do with the surreptitious installation of Kiwee) and complaints in support forums about problems getting it off a computer, I don't see anything about it being forced on users. Was it one of the many tools bars included with software that installed by default but unchecking a box provided an opt-out? I just don't know. Although several of the search hits I saw included the word "unbeknownst" which leaves me wondering if they were written by the same person or several people parroting the others. In any case, it seems more a case of poorly written code and even poorer judgment on the part of American Greetings than malware. American Greetings does offer instructions on how to remove Kiwee although it sounds like you need to install the latest, greatest version first. I'm not sure I'd be jumping at at offer. Gosh Durn Mike ~ Don't be so rude & judgemental! I didn't get "glitter text" intentionally. Do you have any idea of the number of computers I've looked at with upwards of a half dozen different tools bars installed? Every user claimed they never installed them. Yes they did, when the went click, click, click without bothering to read what was on the screen. Now maybe I got up on my soapbox a little too soon and American Greetings did install poorly written software on their customers' computers without their customers knowledge or consent. If that is the case, I would be writing a nice letter to Mr. Weiss letting him know why he won't be getting any more of my money. Even if it meant giving up a really pretty screen saver.

"On another forum one of the powers that be apparently let it out that GW had come to Houzz and asked them to save the GW forums . " Gardenweb had become part of a failed dot-com business that was acquired by NBC in 2006. A good guess on the transfer would be that NBC either viewed GW as being non-core from a strategic standpoint or not adequately profitable. Neither Houzz nor NBC issued a press release about the transfer, so it's possible that it was not for much money, if any, and neither side saw the transaction as significant. Sites like Houzz make efforts to acquire more "users", and in the case of GW, to hope they migrate and begin to look at the core parts of the original Houzz site. They'll expect some amount of drop off.

See my and others' comments in Kitchen Table. Smartphones work fine, but too many drivers hold them or let them distractingly flop around in the car while doing so. If you have it in a mounting bracket, plugged in, and have an unlimited data plan (navigation gobbles down a lot of data), then you have the equivalent of a GPS device. For regular use, I think a purpose-built device is better, but there are choices.

I know what you mean michelle about the time of day and I'll try clickin' on refresh minnie.

And about me...well, I live in Arizona and I see you do to michelle...alright! Mimi is my 8 yr. old shih tzu furbaby and let's us live with her!

I was referred here by a member that has been here since 1998 and she's right...it's a great place with great peeps!

Welcome Love....and of course we love your mimi too.I will be in Arizona soon; playing "snowbird" this year, but usually live in Southern Oregon where it is much more wet. Have a good time meeting our good peeps.

Here's a tip for working this forum or others like it. When you go open a post to read it or perhaps to respond, right-click on the post and open it in a new window. (Your original window remains open and under the new window.) Read and/or reply as desired. When you are done with the current window, merely delete it (click the X-box) and you will be returned immediatley to the original window (that is already open). This saves a lot of time (and data transfer) in reloading the original forum-post-list and furthermore, you'll be returned to the same place on the list where you were before (since it was not closed).

Second tip: If you will be opening temporary windows as described above, consider this. Before you begin, resize your main window. Make it a little less wide than your screen; leave it full height. Click (and hold down the button) on the top title bar and drag the window right or left until the left margin is near the left side of your screen. If you have you dispaly set to "tile" new windows, the next window you open will appear a bit to the right of window no. 1. Part of window 1 will be peeking out from behind window no. 2. This serves as a reminder of where you are in a chain of opened windows.
