Oh how lucky to have a DH that shops and cooks! We have just 1 DD and she is in her second year of college. It didn't take me too long to get used to being an empty-nester! Of course, she's home once or twice a month with all her dirty clothes! lol

Glad you decided to join us. We have a good time here and I learn a LOT because everyone is so helpful.

I'm Patti and I live in Ocala, FL with my DH. We moved here a year ago and love the small town feel, while having all the advantages of a larger city. It's horse country so rides out of the city are really beautiful with all the rail fences and horses.

I love working crosswords, cooking, collecting recipes and baking. I have a daughter who lives south of us in Largo and a step-daughter in California. We have 4 grandchildren, the youngest being almost 12.

So grab a chair and sit a spell--or as my kitchen plaque says, "Sit Long, Talk Much". Did you bring chocolate? It's sort of a tradition here. LOL!

Patti43 - you asked for chocolate - as a matter of fact I am trying (oh so hard) to include DARK chocolate in my diet - it is supposed to help my heart, my skin & my mood! Who needs science to tell us all that, right?

The good health habit that I have nailed is red wine... I love merlot! I reward myself with a glass after I work out - what a motivater!

I will post pics of Molly soon - she is a dear & makes us laugh! she helps me garden - when I start to dig she finishes the hole for me...and she loves the veggie garden - her fav is green beans - she eats them right off the vine! (We do pole beans). Her next fav is asparagus - she chomps the baby ones right in the garden.

We live in Western NY - near Buffalo. I saw the post by gazania about the "mother of winters" - I'm sure Mother Nature will prove her right in my area...

Welcome Hostapasta. I have only been posting a couple of weeks but reading for quite a while. I am in Western Australia and will have to google Hostas - not sure if we have them here. I am not a gardener but admire other peoples' work. I certainly share your husband's liking for pasta. I am almost divorced and if there is ever a next time for me - he will certainly have to know how to cook (and clean up after himself!). Beth

I'm Susan and I live in the mountains of Pennsylvania, in an old farmhouse on a dirt road that is throwing up so much dust this fall (since it was worked on by the township) that it's become a health hazard. I've resorted to walking my dogs around the barn instead of on the road.

Hello HostaPasta, from Coastal Texas Area. I love Hostas and who doesn't like Pasta?

I live in the country on one acre with Main Man whom I've been with for about 12 years now. We have 3 dogs and we are very retired. He cooks and shops too, but if I want to eat "healthy", I have to cook.

A great big welcome to you form Gazania. Yep, your Buffalo winter will likely top our winter here just north of Pittsburgh, PA. My sister lives in Erie. Buffalo and Erie often share the same snow storms.

I have DH who is a lot of help with household chores, but sadly, cooking isn't one of them. I also find my peace in the garden...digging, planting, trimming, weeding and general cruising around the yard on my handicapped scooter.
In fact I best get outside now to keep DH from cutting some things back. When he starts the fall cleanup in the flower beds, he becomes weed whacker crazy. I need to get out there and defend some of my babies.

Glad you decided to join in on the fun and compassion here. I have a big supply of dark chocolate that I will be happy to share.

You have all been so welcoming, and after my day at work - it is very appreciated!

o.k. - let's see - feel free to call me "hosta" for short, and I will ask DH to post a pic of our Molly. I will also ask DH to post recipes - any requests? He actually was a chef for many years, now cooks for me and family & guests.

We have a veggie garden, and I preserve alot - canning & freezing. We also have fruit bushes & trees - raspberries, blueberries, pears, cherries, grapes, elderberries, currants & I hope someday apples - we can't seem to get an apple that is not misshapen from our trees.

We both work too many hours, and I am also a grad student -finally getting my Master's! Both of my DDs & I are in school - DD #1 (age 24) for her Master's - she is a teacher, and DD #2 (age 18) undergrad at Univ of Buffalo - who here lives N of Pittsburgh, went to UB & has s sister in Erie? I will look back soon to find out - but I send a special "HI" right now. DH has 2 kids - DstepS is married with 3 kids - a DGD, age 7 & twin GS, age 4. DH has a DD age 33 - lives in Orlando.

A warm Georgia welcome to you, Hosta. Like yours, my hubby is a good cook and also does the laundry most of the time. The Hostas here in the south don't compare to the huge, gorgeous ones we had when we lived in Ohio. Even so, I prefer Georgia.
