What's for dinner 10/9?

While some of our northern neighbors are enjoying their Thanksgiving dinner today, we'll have to wait a while for our leftover turkey sandwiches.

We're having white chicken chili for dinner with cornbread. What are you having?

It's been at least 10 years, since I had one, and I did, today. Whopper at Burger King and enjoyed each and every bite.

I had chocolate covered peanuts and a coke. This afternoon I got a perm. which puts the ache back into my shoulders that PT is trying to help. Then I went to WalMart for a few things and they have moved everything around so I had to walk and walk just to find what I wanted. I asked one of the clerks where the laundry detergent was and she told me. It was all the way into another section. I told her they need to hand out maps. She said it wouldn't help because nothing would probably be in the same place very long! All that walking added to my aches and I was tired. So back to dinner: I had a craving for chocolate covered peanuts. All they had was Great Value. Not very good. Sue

We had our big family dinner here and so my big meal was at noon again. We had grilled T-bone steaks, hot dogs and chicken tenders, cheese potatoes, baked beans, sweet potatoes (from the garden), green beans (from the garden), broccoli, taco salad, six bean salad, potato salad, chocolate cake, butter brickle cake, apple pie, and black raspberry pie. For supper I just had a hot dog, since I didn't have one at noon and a piece of butter brickle cake. The kids are coming over at noon tomorrow to help eat up some of the leftovers. Sue

We bought an electric smoker off craigslist for $25. the other day.It was brand new,still in the box and hadn't even been assembled.DS wanted to try it out but looked in several different stores today for a brisket and couldn't find one.Either didn't have them or they were very fatty and expensive.No such luck today! Hopefully someone will have a good one tomorrow.He grilled burgers and dogs instead.They were good but I had my taste buds all ready for brisket!

It's 8 degrees here and breezy and we are on the verge of another storm. You all know how I feel about that so I won't say anything else! ;) Teresa I hope you and your DD don't get sick! Lots of colds and stomach flu around here. I have a roast in the crock, DH has to go to work at 5:30ish so I will have to run supper out to him. I am thinking to make it easier it will be hot beef sandwiches. Yummmmmm. Hope his is still warm when I get it out there! LOL

Homemade veg soup. I use hamburger, and it always turns out great. Really hit the spot today, even tho we enjoyed temps of 70 - 75. Beautiful Fall day.

Breakfast for supper is my favorite. We had biscuits and sausage gravy the other night (except I didn't make my own biscuits). Pancakes and sausage is my favorite, though.

I've never made vegetable soup with hamburger but I bet it's good. I think veg. soup is about my favorite. What do you put in yours?

Glenda, I think I had a whopper once, but my nephew loves them so much he gave them up for Lent a few years ago and I thought he was going through withdrawal. :-) He married a vegetarian--go figure!!

We're having 1/2 a left over tri-tip roast and I thought that I would make these roasted garlic and new potatoes that I found on the Pioneer Woman's site. I went there to get the link today for sooey's thread on chicken soup and well, I started looking around and found this recipe. I have the ingredients so I thought that I'd try it and add a veggie. Sooey's soup made me hungry for it....maybe tomorrow. :-)

Our turkey dinner is tomorrow, so tonite we had Sausages and Red Sauce, homefries and brussels sprouts.

I like. patti, make white chicken chili, and I enjoy it more than I do red chili.

Had my first white chili at a Bob Evan's restaurant driving to OH few years back.

I changed the original recipe up to suit my flavor.
ASo this is mine. Patti's might be a little different.

1 can chicken broth or use your own
1Tbl olive oil
2 boneless chicken breast, chopped **** OR Use WalMarts,rotisserie, and use breast only shredded.
1/4 cup or more chopped onion
1 4 oz can green chiles, chopped ***I puree mine with my hand blender WITH juice
1 19 oz can navy beans, undrained
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp cilantro ***I use instead 2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp oregano
1/8 tsp red pepper
Sauce chicken and onions 4-5 minutes in olive oil **If using Wal Marts cooked, saute onions only till translucent
Stir in spices, broth, simmer about 15 minutes, then add beans and shredded chicken and simmer 5 more minutes, to get the flavors blended.
We love it topped with fritos, shredded cheese, and a dollop of sour cream

My husband will eat almost anything, so I know he will like it, and I love beans, especially white ones, so I am sure it will be a hit !

Sorry I didn't get back to this last night. I posted my recipe on the "I'll Share My Recipe" thread today. Very similar to Glenda's. In it, I forgot I added garlic. I used a clove of garlic minced, even though the recipe didn't call for garlic. 'Cause I like it!

I've been making Glenda's recipe ever since it was posted a long time ago (February 2007). I do make two changes. I cook my own great northern beans. And I use browned lean ground turkey instead of the chicken breast. Thanks, Glenda.
