What's for Supper?

Our supper this evening is almost like a Thanksgiving dinner. Cheryl had baked a turkey breast and brought it out and with it we are having, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, sweet potatoes, stuffing, coleslaw, cranberry relish, yeast rolls and pumpkin pie. Iced tea to drink. What's for supper at your place this evening?

We're getting ready for our 21 year-old granddaughter's visit. She flies in Saturday morning and we'll pick her up in Orlando. She's just a sweetheart and I haven't had her all by herself since they moved from Florida when she was 3 or 4. Guest room is ready and just need to do some last minute clean-up. I'm so excited!! She's a great photographer and takes all the pictures for her college yearbook. She made me a Mother's Day card which was a collage of nature photos she'd taken. She's going to give me lessons while she's here so I can post pictures. Paid bills, made out a grocery list and a list for Wal-Mart. Did the ususal daily stuff--pick up, make the bed, etc. Dinner tonight is a chicken breast that's in the crockpot right now with a tarragon mustard sauce. We'll have that with rice and DH's favorite--peas. Still have picnic cake. I should have brought it to the KT!!

Yum, everything sounds so good! I love that fundraiser idea, Bob. Was everything delicious? Nicole, your supper sounds great; absolutely like something that I would fix. I've found a couple of recipes and may try one this weekend. Party, I've tried to like Buffalo chicken wings but I don't care for the sauce. I love grilled chicken wings, though, sprinkled with some cayenne! The bleu cheese dressing is a perfect foil for something spicy. I like celery sticks with it, too. Jasdip....there's no way that your supper wasn't delicious! I can almost taste it, now.

Each day of the week has a theme that I follow, and Monday is "Big Meal". That means a large cut of meat so there are leftovers for lunches/sandwiches/stir-fry, and possibly enough for the freezer, and possibly the base for soup. Last night was ham, fresh pole beans from the garden in "Spicy Asian Green Beans". Also from the garden - Potatoes O'Brian (with onions & peppers), a gluten-free banana muffin (from the freezer), and for dessert - I made a 3-minute Microwave Apple Crisp with a Jonathan apple, some raisins, palm sugar, apple pie spice, and a dab of butter. Served with a little whipping cream and homemade granola on the top - which is a Q&E substitute for Apple Pie and Ice Cream at our house (I hate to make pies so I fake them when possible ;-).

Some chicken things from the trader joes freezer case, not that impressed. And I used the spiralizer I got for Christmas to make zucchini noodles. I sautéed them in butter, olive oil and garlic. I thought they looked really pretty and tasted good. Kids not impressed.

Hot dogs. I have hot dogs, buns, sauerkraut, everything already in the house. Just don't feel like going shopping. I hate planning and cooking meals when it's just the 2 of us.

It's cool enough now to make beef bourgogne - so I did.

Are you practicing for next month, Sue, or celebrating Canada's Thanksgiving a few days early? LOL!

We're just having fried spaghetti with peas and Italian bread. It's been a lazy day in the neighborhood!

I made the Lipton's Onion Soup meatloaf. Hadn't done that for a long time. I'd forgotten how good it is!

Also cooked broccoli, carrots and snap peas together.

Breakfast! I made the wonderful Wakeup casserole. I am pretty sure the recipe came from here. The family loves it and it can't be any easier to whip up.

I put a roast in the crock pot all day, then made taquitos out of it. Topped with red enchilada sauce,cheese & sour cream.
