Yep, but it's a add this and add that kinda thing I'll call "crockpot surprise". Made London Broil on the inside grill yesterday, needless to say HD wasn't impressed..although I marinated it (1st time to cook it) overnight, took out to rest 5 mins and seared in the skillet as directed then placed on the grill, well let's just say,,,HD said even Penny the dog didn't like it that rare!

So today, I've sliced really thin, scored with the dull food chopper and put it in the crock pot to reheat and cook just a little...added a can of cream of chicken soup, a powered gravy mix and a can of potatoes and carrots I normally use to make a wonderful chicken pot pies. I'll be off to work probably before HD gets home, so today, he'll probably eat "crock pot surprise" with whole wheat crackers, a small salad and iced tea. It smells wonderful!

I like your title, Crockpot Surprise! I keep looking for the recipe "Prune Surprise", they mentioned it on one of the British shows, Keeping Up Appearances once. Ha, ha.

I had to go into town for an oil change and buy a new battery for my van. Came home and quilted for an hour so so.

I'm going to have fresh Sa-dandy peas, cream corn, sliced tomatoes, fried egg plant and corn bread. Oh and fried okra. I pronounce okra (oak-kree), that's just how I have always heard it called. Sa-dandy peas are a cream pea that is sooo hard to shell but I dearly love them so I gladly sit and shell them out with lots of snaps. I might cook a chicken tender or two...or perhaps not! I love fresh garden veggies for supper.

Spent the morning doing my 'running around'--bank, visiting aunt in the assisted living facility. Then came home spent the afternoon on odds and ends--paperwork, balancing bank statements, paying bills, making dr's & therapist's appts, etc.

Dinner? Don't know. It's too hot to cook. We'll probably go out and grab something quick and inexpensive--Panera's or maybe Chick Fila--we have a coupon for a free sandwich there.

We're getting ready for our 21 year-old granddaughter's visit. She flies in Saturday morning and we'll pick her up in Orlando. She's just a sweetheart and I haven't had her all by herself since they moved from Florida when she was 3 or 4. Guest room is ready and just need to do some last minute clean-up. I'm so excited!!

She's a great photographer and takes all the pictures for her college yearbook. She made me a Mother's Day card which was a collage of nature photos she'd taken. She's going to give me lessons while she's here so I can post pictures.

Paid bills, made out a grocery list and a list for Wal-Mart. Did the ususal daily stuff--pick up, make the bed, etc.

Dinner tonight is a chicken breast that's in the crockpot right now with a tarragon mustard sauce. We'll have that with rice and DH's favorite--peas. Still have picnic cake. I should have brought it to the KT!!

Not much, we had an egg sandwich and some soup, it's too hot too cook. Took a nap, got up, and it's still HOT, lol.

Laundry was my task du jour. I fixed fresh ground pork patties, along with eggs, toast and a yellow tomato for my dinner. I can't have all the sodium in sausage so my local guy grinds up fresh pork for me instead.......it's always very lean.

I went back to work today, after being on vacation for two weeks. I still felt very mellow, and I didn't have any appt's booked, by some miracle. Then I came home and took the dogs out, and watered my plants before I went to an electrolysis appt. Tonight I'm going to just relax- when it cools off I'll go sit outside. I might even do some weeding if it cools off enough.

I had a two hour visit with the endodontist for a root canal this afternoon. Dinner will be some of yesterday's turkey breast added to a frozen dinner out of the freezer!

We frequently have what DH calls 'Icebox Surprise'. LOL ('Refrigerator Surprise' just doesn't have the right ring to it, and we are so old that our parents called the appliance an icebox.)

In my family we called the fridge an icebox too.

Sounds like everybody is exhausted by the heat...me too.
I have thawed some chicken thigh pieces, and will probably make some chicken fingers with them a bit later. I did soak some lima beans in the crock today, and added a ham bone from easter to it, so it will slowly cook for a few hours, and hopefully be ready for lunch tomorrow for DH.
Ran a few errands today, missed going to one bank, but will do it tomorrow morning while it is still cool.
Worked on DH's resume all afternoon, as he is hoping to get a better job at the company he works for.
He came home and wrote it all different, so I will spend this evening sorting the new info out.

It's been a good day. I am pooped.

We had Tortilla lime crusted tilapia. It was packaged frozen fish from Safeway and it was really good! Even DH liked and he is picky! We also had brown rice and broccoli. The girls had scrambled eggs because they're picky too!

it's still a bit warm for the oven, so got out my waffle iron and made waffles, over easy eggs and turkey bacon...had my 3rd chemo today and if everything goes ok, will only have one more...then we talk radiation?? not thrilled but then then you do what you have to!

tomorrow will plop a chunk of pork loin in the crock pot...

have to make a costco run for a watermelon and chips for dgd's 2n bday. also have to do a jewelry store run for a battery for dh's watch...it's my last day of energy, for a few days...
