My sister Lizzie would have loved that apartment! Most of our adult lives my sister always said after her girls left home she would want to have an all white apartment to live in. Sad to say she never got that chance. Nice place though but I love bright colours too much to live in an all white apartment

To me seems cold and uninviting. No style, but of course a person probably won't spend much time there either.

white or stainless steel appliances in small kitchen?

You folks are all 'amazing' ~ I knew I came to the right place to get help. I thought I should post an image of my kitchen, which I should have done in the first place (but my dishes weren't done) lol. I love both the white and the stainless steel. I took a good look at my kitchen today and noticed that the microwave looks like it has yellowed over a 5 year period. The plastic panel cover on the top part of the dishwasher yellowed. And those plastic strips they put on the frames of the cupboards have also yellowed. Funny, I never noticed that before. I like the white frig with the stainless steel handles too. Thanks everyone. Here is my teensy weeny kitchen.

Stainless Steel or white appliances?
Q

ginny20, I couldn't find a link to the TED talk. Love TED. I love the look of SS appliances and have never understood the fuss about keeping them clean and finger-print free. Maybe I lucked out and got better finishes (even though my stainless are lower-end ones). I dunno. I'm also the first to say "screw trends" (and I've been known to say it with more "colorful" words!) There are some kitchens that just scream for white or black appliances. Or fun colored ones. So get whatever you like best and what works for your space. I've found HD to be reat to work with. If your item hasn't shipped yet, I bet you can cancel without any fees. Or if there is a fee, it will probably be a small one. I'd pay the cancellation fee before I'd pay for something that I know I'm not going to like.

Ruvati RVC2384 Stainless Steel Kitchen Sink and Stainless Steel Faucet

I have the Ruvati single bowl sink. Pros: It's big and holds a lot of dishes. It's sturdy and insulated well enough for me. I like the ledge for accessories. Cons: It has a flat bottom, so I chase food around the sink with the sprayer trying to get food particles down the drain. It has tight corners and hard to clean. The colander has wood, so I'm not sure how long that will last and it has large holes and is open on each end. That prevents you from using it for anything small, like straining spaghetti. I suppose you could use it for larger cut vegetables. I personally have it on the ledge and use it to set my liquid soap bottle, scrubbies and to hang my dishcloth to dry on the edge. I sometimes rinse my flatware and place in there prior to loading the dishwasher. I bought an after market, fine mesh colander that expands to fit the ledge and I store it in my cabinets. The grid for the bottom of the sink I thought was a good idea when I bought the sink. I hate it. The space between grids is too large to prevent anything from falling through. It gets food gunk on it, so I would be constantly scrubbing it and have to take it out to clean the sink. I don't use it anymore. If I could have a do-over, I would not purchase it again. You spend a lot of time at the sink, so allow enough in your budget to get a sink that will make using it less of a chore.

Switch from white to stainless steel appliances in small rental?

Thank you all for your comments. hollybar, I wanted to powder coat the stove because I think a mint green stove would look cute in a 1950s kitchen, and because it's not very expensive. I hope that my current tenants (who have lived there for less than a month) enjoy living in the house and stay for several years. My husband wasn't very excited about mint green, and it sounds like nobody here is either, so I'll probably stick with the more universally appealing white. I hadn't considered burn marks, but the tables were a DIY project meant to last 5-10 years until we get around to changing the window and adding cabinets on that side of the kitchen. The hickory for the butcher block tops only cost $50, and hopefully I can turn them over or plane them between tenants if they are burnt. I agree with you that table height looks wrong next to the window, but it's done now and there is no way my husband could be prevailed upon to change it!

Who cares about the white and stainless steel... I can't take my eyes off that view! It's not worth 95 million to me though. :O)

Makes me feel cold, just looking at it. Why is the bed so tiny, at the end of the room? Is that the master?

Yeah, PM50, I guess if I just played the piano and looked out the window I'd be able to get over the stainless and white....

I'm thinking the owner probably works long hours (away from that view) to be able to afford it.

Would love to know who purchased it for 95 mil....can you even imagine having that much $? I like it....but if I took a bath there I would be thinking the whole time that people with high powered binoculars or telescopes were watching me...lol.

I was thinking about the telescope thing too, because when I lived in midtown Manhattan it seemed as though just about everybody had one. But maybe that building is so tall that the angle makes it impossible to see past the window into the apartment.

betcha the buyer re-decorated!

This reminds me of a colleague who decorated her "dream home" herself.

She used whites, grays, & stainless.

When she wanted to sell, the critiques all said the same thing: "chilly".

Hey, that looks like my place! Lol! I could live with it except for the sofas. I need something more comfy.
