Jamie, I am so glad you will be seeing someone to get help. Please, whatever it takes, keep that appointment. Going the first time will be the hardest for you but will go a long way toward helping you feel whole again.

My sister in law just called me. She set me up with an appt. to speak to someone at her church (Healing Place Church). The lady I will be speaking with is in Pastoral Care. Maybe she can answer my MANY questions. But, I can't see her till next Wed.

Well all be with you Thursday do try to be there youre in the right hands.You will get help we all need it occasionally.Get some meds you'll get some much needed rest.That will help immensley.

A dear friend of mine lost her husband in a motorcycle accident. He had gone on his yearly trip and was 40 miles from home. They were stopped at a stop light and a woman ran into them. He died instantly. It took her months to finally go talk to someone and it was a changing time in her life. Please try to make this appointment. It was the first step for my friend to go forward. We all will be thinking of you..

I understand it can take @ 6 months before a person is ready for grief counseling--a hospice worker told my friend of that stat recently when her mother, whom she was very close to, passed. I sure do hope some way, some how you will be able to make that appointment tomorrow!! Please, try to figure out a way. I'm glad to see you receptive to a religious person as well, as he/she may be able to help you find peace, a little at a time. No magic bullet, just hard work and trust. I'll keep praying for you, Jamie. Hang in there!

On the 10th of this month will make 6 months she's been gone.

Jamie, I am so glad that you are getting help. And yes, do keep the appointments, your life depends on it. Also seek out a parents' group if and when you can, losing a loved one is always hard, but losing a child is a different loss. You need and deserve special care. Hugs to you, Jamie.

I'm so glad to hear that. I know it took energy for you to make that call. Keep the momentum going, Jamie. You're not only dealing with a devastating loss, but also with the shock because it happened so suddenly. Be sure to tell them about being plagued with flashbacks of that one scene. I had a similar situation, and was helped a lot by a therapist using a post-traumatic stress relief technique.

This IS good news! It's a *start*, a first step towards learning how to accept and go on -- as you must do, for yourself, for your DH and DS, and because Rachel would expect you to LIVE your life.

When you feel like it, tell us how the appointment went.

I hope that things went well today, Jamie.

And that things are looking somewhat more bright and cheerful for you.

One of our major tasks that we carry as a parent is to encourage, guide and support our offspring as they move toward independence.

And the reverse side of that is to avoid getting ourselves so tied to them and their welfare that we become dependent upon them. We feel unhappy for a child who remains tied to his/her mother's apron strings after becoming an adult.

We, too, need our independence ... and when something like this happens, it can be terribly hurtful.

I hope that, along with the healing, or as part of it, you will develop some outside interest which will use some of your interest and energy.

While you may not want to embark on such a journey at present, I hope that you will start giving it some consideration, as something potentially interesting to consider getting involved with in the future.
