It would bother me in a restaurant to see that but it doesn't bother me in cooking shows. It's a demonstration to the audience and I understand that they want to look attractive on national tv. I know I would. I don't think anyone really eats the food they make on those shows anyway. But I agree that anyone who makes food for the public should tie their hair back.

I'm curious how many home cooks put on hair nets or tie their hair back specifically for cooking. I do because my hair is nearly waist-length and it can be a fire hazard lol.

The only chef I remember who always tied her hair back is Sarah Moulton. A petite blonde woman.

But yes, Gina, Rachael, that 3 ingredient cook (who I find annoying) and the blonde woman from Texas always has their hair in their face. It drives me crazy as well.....especially when they reach up to pull it away from their mouth.

Another thing that actually turns my stomach is when someone sweats profusely and I have seen that on several different shows, most frequently on Chopped. I pity those judges! I have to turn the station.

meh... I really don't care about the hairstyles or even the makeup of any TV celebrity.

I agree that it doesn't bother me to see that on TV cooking shows, BECAUSE no one really eats the food.

However, at home? My hair is halfway down my back, I don't even walk into my kitchen to get a glass of water without grabbing a clip and securing it. I rarely ever yell at my husband, but the one thing that ticks me off is him walking into the kitchen holding one of the cats. Yes, they walk into the kitchen on their own, but they stay on the floor (they are WELL TRAINED not to ever get on counters, tables or chairs.)

Sarah Moulton--what a lovely lovely woman. I had the pleasure of spending a couple of days at a country inn with her a few years back. She is so sweet, so down to earth. Not at all a 'celebrity' in how she acts. She's such a genuinely nice person.

As far as cooking shows, hair in the face doesn't bother me as much as sweat dripping. I think the worst are the chefs on Chopped and I feel sorry for the judges who have to eat that. There is one Iron Chef who I can not watch because of his profuse sweating. I notice some of these chefs use the same towel to wipe their sweaty faces and also their cutting boards and serving plates.

Makes you wonder what goes on behind the scenes at the restaurants we eat at. Yuck!

Minnie, Sarah Moulton has a new cooking show on PBS. I've always liked her low key, down home approach to cooking.

Azzalea, there are some cooking shows where the videographer crew eats the food. I think Rachael's is one of them.

One show was a real teaching show where the chef would go into detail with a dish and explain how to cut and cook it etc. At the end you always saw the tv crew come over and dig in.

My hair falls out a lot. I just cut it short, but before that it was halfway down my back. In fact, I cut it because I was so sick of finding long hair all over the place. I wear the surgery bonnets that I wear at work when I cook, especially bake. Works great.

Anyone who says their cats NEVER get on the counter, table or chairs should set up a nanny cam. Cats get up there at night when you are sleeping or when you are not home.

OT Rant: I am sick of female news anchors and weatherbunnies with drippy hair extensions and men with jarringly obvious toupees. The camera is very unforgiving. What looks like a nice match/blend on a toupee in 'real life' doesn't fool the camera.

I love it when a camera-man pulls back briefly and shows the viewer one of these fat TV 'talking faces' in full.
