Christmas shopping...DONE! (Happy Dance)

Last week I scoured Amazon.com for presents and got the last of it delivered today. I love Christmas, and I know it's kinda early...but every year I wait too long and then I either overspend or don't get what I intended. (or both)

This year I planned out for everybody and ordered all at once.

And happily I stayed well within my budget and paid cash.

Done. Done. Done.

Anybody else thinking about Christmas yet?

Good job! I shop for Christmas all year long. I had a huge head start on 2011 because there were some unexpected requests last year. I fulfilled those requests and put the items I had already purchased away for this year. I'm probably 90% finished at this point.

I have no ideas this year! :( My goal is always to be done by Thanksgiving; haven't made it once yet. :(

I despise shopping!

Ooooops! Heth this may be wayyyy too belated but I had several chaos happening/stuff to arrange on the home front. That tiny turnip has only grown from 1/2" to 2" (it's a foreshortened angle so looks smaller than it really is) and it's almost the end of September. My other orchid's baby leaf is at a standstill for 3 months!!!! whereas it's other bifoliate leaf grew like dynamite (within 1-2 weeks)! I still suspect that secondary bifoliate leaf is hiding something??? maybe it is indeed hiding a spike???? It's still spotted! even 3 months later and barely grew whereas it's other bifoliate leaf didn't have any spots on it. Naughty orchid is taking forever! But then I read other people waiting 2 whole years. I'd go beserk! LOL! Whitecat and Orchid126 I am going from happy dance to hopping impatient, hee-hee! Heth my orchids are cattelya hybrids (Lc. Yen Amethys x Blc Varut Greenworth) and (Lc. Longriver Compton 'Golden Star') Here is the link to my first blooms. Lc. I haven't even thought about bulbs this year... we're just now starting to get tulip and daffodil bulbs to intersperse in the new rose beds for early color. I did choose a beautiful dark red tulip variety, and one that looks like burgundy and creamy yellow. They should look nice along the sidewalk. Who is everyone ordering from this season? And what are the really wanted varieties?

Our Smilax is the super-thorny variety that has utterly consumed a quarter acre of woods, strangling several perfectly good trees to death. There are a few fine varieties, but this one ain't one of 'em. Santa's going to be busy over here. Maybe he'll also bring a nice climbing rose or three from Antique Rose Emporium.

Thanks everybody. I didn't start collecting the Hallmark Houses until the early 90's so this was a special find. I have 22 of them now. I have done my best over the years to keep them in business, LOL. Merry Christmas, Candy

I got one up on you. NO SHOPPING necessity from me. My daughters get something when I have something, as well as for their birthdays. This year, I will be working except for Christmas day, but no travel time for me at all. Thus, no Christmas.

Well, I mean, no Christmas presents. Just nice quiet me myself and I time. It's really liberating, when you get off the gift cycle. Found this out last year.

yes and amazon'ed a table and chairs for dgs, and his little sister to be(christmas baby)...but as for the other 8?? nope! i'd love to get the wish lists started, too...(including the kids and spouses)

heard that "black friday" is going to start a lot sooner this year, if any...

Juellie, I'm not a mall shopper either. That's why I keep my eyes open all year long for ideas. Between flash sales sites, Amazon, and eBay, I don't have to step foot in a bricks and mortar store.

I do 90% of my shopping online... I do have a couple small gifts already, but won't really shop until I know what everyone is asking for or needs. I don't buy for a lot of people (maybe 10?). I don't mind it at all... I actually look forward to it!

I give money or gift cards - only 1 present to buy this year, for my 1-month old Grandson!

years ago as the families were growing and growing we all decided to stop spending so much so now I only buy for my 2 sisters and my Mom. We learned long ago the grandkids much prefer money which makes it easy since we have to mail it to them anyway. We love them calling and telling us all excited what they were able to buy with their money and I know they got just what they wanted.
Of course I get something for my husband too and he buys for his Mom.

So that makes it pretty easy for us. However I have not yet decided what to get for them this year. When I can shop online I do!

I have our two grandsons finished, and their birthdays too. The younger one will be 2 tomorrow, and his gifts are wrapped for the trip up there tomorrow. His brother's birthday is Christmas Day, so some presents for him have Christmas wrapping, and others will have birthday wrapping paper.

I have bought a few things for other family members, but the big shopping rush will start once Thanksgiving dinner is done, the kitchen is clean, and the good dishes put away.

I find I buy more gifts online every year, but I do try to support our local merchants. I have learned to shop late and that way I avoid crowds. I head out to the mall about 9pm and take advantage of the holiday shopping hours.

My gift giving has diminished over the past couple years.

I had one more item for my son, and he will have 3 nice gifts from me.

GS, I still haven't decided. And that will be IT!

Forhgtv, I am just like you. If I see something during the year that I know someone will like, I buy it and put it in my closet. By Christmas I have sometimes more than I need, but there are always birthdays!

I buy all year long too and only for my husband, boys and their gf's...Husband buys for his mom, sister and brother...my family is too big and we don't live close...it puts too much pressure on everyone and just isn't worth the hassle...I've been trying to get back more to "Jesus is the reason for the season"
