If this keeps up, we'll be opening a kennel....2 pix

Sunday AM another stray dog wandered in. This one was too polite to dig her way under the fence to get in, she just stood in the driveway wagging her skinny tail. Geez. She's part collie and so sweet and thin and was covered with grass seeds, burrs, ticks and fleas. So straight into the bath she went after a nice meal and drink of water. For a stray, she is so well behaved, seems to be housebroken and is quite nice. I can't imagine why someone would dump her, but her tags had been cut off her ratty, way-too-large-for-her-body collar.

We've taken her to the vet, she's too thin but otherwise healthy, needs to be spayed, had her vaccinations, got de-wormed, etc. No heartworms, that's a miracle. I guess we're keeping her. Even if we knew where she belonged, we couldn't give her back, she was sorely neglected. She is probably a year old and has had at least one litter already. Poor baby girl. She's living the good life now, getting 3+ squares a day (not counting the cat food she's been STANDING on the kitchen counter stealing! That will have to stop!) and lots of attention. The other dogs don't seem to think too much of her yet, but it's early, only been 3 days. Seems like a year to me, though, because she doesn't like grass. I have to coax and plead and bribe her to go into the yard. Hopefully she'll get over that really soon. She seems to have very dainty and tender tootsies for an Ozark dog.

We've named her Wallis. We took this while she was still wet. She's all nice and fluffy now, smells like a rose instead of a junkyard. (No offense, junkyardgirl!)

Who could turn away that face?

Flamey, who nows has FIVE big dogs and 3 cats. Oy.
